In "Me and the Sky" the lines: "...the one thing I loved more than anything. was used as a BOMB." That line gives me chills every single time. The happiness of the entire song simply shatters at that one word, and you're thrown back into the reality of their present situation... Amazing writing. Amazing play!
My dad is a retired commercial pilot who was still working when 9/11 happened, and that part of the song might have actually been written by him, because he said almost those exact same things afterward. He said that after 9/11 all the fun went out of being a pilot.
this truly is an extraordinary show. i can't believe how such a tragedy, like 9/11, goes to be some kind of lesson to others : show kindness and respect to one another, no matter their background, religion, sexual orientation, etc.

We will never forget the horror of 9-11 but if that is ALL we remember it is a victory for the terrorists. Come From Away is probably the best response to terrorism I can imagine.
For me, the moment that always get to me is how two people who speak different languages and are from different parts of the world using the bible to communicate. Whoever got the idea to communicate with each other through the bible was a genius. They managed to calm so many people nerves through one simple action.
It actually happened in a church with people from Moldova, not Africans on the bus according to the documentary. Also the gay couple didn't break up due to this, but to something else several years later. Still, I love the 'suddenly we're speaking the same language' part!
Something's Missing is such a powerful song. It goes directly from a happy, amazing song to this soul-crushing realization of the events of what brought them to Gander. It quietly plays the tune of 'I am an islander' and that part absolutely broke me.

Newfies are special people. I was stranded in London trying to get home to Texas. We were left to find our own hotels, make arrangements, and were told to be at the airport for any available departure for 5 days. For the people of Gander to suspend their lives for 5 days is an amazing act of human kindness. If any city deserves a piece of the WTC steel, it’s Gander.
This show hits hard for me. I did not live through 9/11, but that tragedy ended up bringing my parents together. That was the first day they met each other. They went to a bar to try and console themselves, and they started talking. Sometimes bad things happen, but sometimes you find good through them. I just wanted to share. "Never forget"
Honestly, I've always been proud to be a Canadian, but honestly this soundtrack makes me so So SO much more proud to be a Canadian. Like, we've done so much for the world, been so helpful and nice, but everyone seems to forget because we don't boast about it. It's... actually really nice to see at least on of the things that we've done put on stage, and it's going to be turned into a movie. It really does make me cry a little, in a good way.

As an American who was alive during 9/11, thank you. I was 13 at the time and I'll never forget that day. It was like the world was going mad--and now, all these years later, I think it did in a lot of ways, because it's never been the same since. And yet amidst all the horror, there were the helpers and the countless acts of kindness and compassion from people to total strangers. What's said in the musical is true: We honor what was lost when remembering 9/11, but we also commemorate what we found, how the human spirit withstood such evil on that day and has continued to stand against it since.
I barely remember 9/11, since I was only 5 at the time. But whether you see it reflected in the media or not, I can honestly tell you that from personal experience, I think we have a great deal of respect for our neighbors to the north, both as a nation and as people. Political differences aside, most of us care more about what a person does than what they believe.
The same things has happened to me. Before, I didn’t really care about being Canadian, but now, I just feel so proud! Even though this musical isn’t about my province, I still feel so proud to be Canadian!

This has been my favorite musical since I saw it in New York last summer. I suggested it to a friend who liked history. I then listened through it with him and cried like a baby remembering the show and the emotions I felt then and now. Such a beautiful show. I hope it's still open after the shut down so I can see it again.
I've seen a lot of great shows on many trips to NYC, but this has got to be my favorite. Before Covid, I sprang for a front row seat and went back to see it again!
Never Forget. Listening to this on the 17th anniversary makes me realize how huge this tragedy truly was, since it happened before I was born. God bless America.❤️🇺🇸
"Listening to this on the 17th anniversary makes me realize how huge this tragedy truly was, since it happened before I was born." And that's crazy to me. As someone who was alive on 9/11--I was 13 at the time--it's insane now to think that enough time has passed for an entire generation to have grown up after it. No matter how many years go by, people who saw that day unfold will always remember exactly where they were when they first heard the news. I had just come in the house from taking my dog for his morning walk, as I did every day before going to school, and I saw my mom had the news on.

I just saw this musical with my synagogue in NYC after visiting the 9/11 memorial, it was so powerful and the music is amazing. I’m going to see it a second time in my hometown!
i saw this show with my theatre studies class with the australian class earlier this year, and let me tell you, i was in as many tears watching the show live as i am every time i listen to the soundtrack all over again. it's such a powerful musical with such a strong message and story and it's just. so important. i'm glad i was able to see it and i'm honestly never going to get tired of it. ☆
If you guys get a chance, watch the documentary "You are here: A come from away story". It's so cool to hear a lot of stories that didn't make it into the show and also see Nick, Diane, the Kevins and all these characters in real life.
I found this musical last year. I think I am developing a habit of listening to this soundtrack on my birthdays which happens to be September 11. If we count the time zones(I'm from Europe), I was born about an hour or less after the tragedy... So this musical, and everything that happened 19 years ago makes me reflect on my life in a weird light... It's kind of making me feel like I'm strangely part of a circle of life (quote intended)... This musical helps me think about all that.
Thank you for uploading this! My son and I just saw the National tour in Southern California this past Sunday and were amazed. It was fabulous! I'm already booking tickets to take my mom to see it in NY this summer. I cried but I laughed so much more and I was so touched by all the stories and have just fallen in love with the show. Now, 9/11 has an added meaning and I am thankful.
Stand-out lines from every song: 1. "Jesus H. Oz, turn on your radio!" 2. "Hooooly Shit." 3. "I need something to do, cause I can't watch the news. No I can't watch the news anymore!" 4. "Tom, who was in the air?" 5. "Someone says he got questioned. Someone says he got searched. And now, he's on our bus." 6. "I'll help you find a phone as soon as we get...wherever we're going." 7. "And that's when we started speaking the same language." 8. "I didn't even think--they haven't seen any of it yet." 9. "Pick up!" 10. "I've been going all night, but I can't stop. None of us can. I splash some cold water on my face and just keep going." 11. "All I know is you are there...you _are there._ and I am here." 12. "So many stories gone, just like that...I needed to tell someone." 13. "You don't look American!" 14. "Let's make these people honorary Newfoundlanders!" 15. "And then they brought the cod." 16. "And the one thing I loved more than anything was used as the bomb." 17. "I don't want to go." 18. "Where the continents once crashed together before they went their separate ways forever." 19. "We've just crossed the Canadian border, welcome back to the U S of A!" 20. "...He's gone." 21. To the ones who’ve left: You’re never truly gone . A candle’s in the window and the kettle’s always on."
saw this show a few days ago. AMAZING! Best new musical I've seen in forever. Cannot say enough about how well this was done. I was choked up right from the start.
I’m from gander, and the creators of the show brought it to gander before it was put out, so I got to see it at our local arts and culture Centre! It was amazing and everyone cried because everyone there lived the story, knew the people, I know everyone who had a character based off them! It was so moving and so uplifting!

I am so thankful this musical; is out there although i know the entire tragedy of 9/11 it show's that humanity and kindness is real. While everyone was so focused on what was going on an entire town was taking in hundreds of people showing them kindness and generosity. Just the story of how to this day they lal visit back warms my heart.

Saw it again last Thurs. matinee from the front row. Got autographs after and pics of Jen Colella riding away down 45th st on her scooter!
I needed this show again, while COVID-19 is disrupting life - almost the way the 9/11 emergency did.
I will agree .. all We " Stay at Homes" needed some wisdom from some "Come from Aways." Funny this clicked after I spoke to some Canadians who are actually worried for some of us in the States. That and once I took my Vitamin C.
I'm actually worried about the Ganderites now, since a lot of these people are older now. And I hope at least Beulah is still okay...
@@adrimare1 It looks like they're getting on with life and coping with the pandemic. And still sticking together, as always. twitter.com/townofgander?lang=en
I swear they will write a musical about COVID and the year
@@amandablakey9062 YESSSSSS
I just spent the last hour in bed, total darkness, listening to this. I have no words. The replay button is haunting me. This is beautiful.
Prayer is my favorite song. I'm Jewish by descent and Christian by faith, so it was beautiful hearing those prayers mixed together.
I cry during the Prayer song every time...so beautiful.
Same here with the holocaust survivor telling his story.
Oseh shalom bimromav. Hu ya'aseh shalom aleinu. V'al kol Yisrael V'imru. Amen.” (They who make peace in their high places, may they bring peace upon us, and upon all Israel. Amen. - it gets me every single time.
I'm a volunteer at the Elgin and Winter Garden Theatre Centre in Toronto. Come From Away played there in 2019 from February to the beginning of December, and when I worked shifts I saw the show a dozen times. It lifts my spirit and it doesn't get old. When I need a lift, I play this and sing along.
I'm here on September 11, 2019. Never forget.
September 11th is my brothers birthday!!
I come back to this every 9/11
Abby Rozengarten
I came back too, every year I revisit.
This has been my favorite musical since I saw it in New York last summer. I suggested it to a friend who liked history. I then listened through it with him and cried like a baby remembering the show and the emotions I felt then and now. Such a beautiful show. I hope it's still open after the shut down so I can see it again.
I have never even heard of this musical.
Am I gonna listen to this entire soundtrack?
Hell yeah
I've seen a lot of great shows on many trips to NYC, but this has got to be my favorite. Before Covid, I sprang for a front row seat and went back to see it again!
*COME FROM AWAY* IS THE NEWFOUNDLAND TERM FOR A VISITOR!
I WANT TO BE A NEWFOUNDLANDER!
@@emreva1357 Go to Newfoundland and politely ask a local if they can screech you in.
@@randomfandomfan5080 okay
@@randomfandomfan5080 can you actually do that?
@@cassandragebis7238 get screeched in or politely ask.
Just saw this in Toronto and is fully deserving of all the praise it has received.
Never Forget. Listening to this on the 17th anniversary makes me realize how huge this tragedy truly was, since it happened before I was born. God bless America.❤️🇺🇸
"Listening to this on the 17th anniversary makes me realize how huge this tragedy truly was, since it happened before I was born."
And that's crazy to me.
@@AliciaNyblade i guess its probably weird. 18th anniversary next month. Now they're Adults who grew up without somthing that defined your lives. we didn't even see it.
Go bless Newfoundlanders
I have never cried listening to a soundtrack until now
And I've heard over and over again the past twelve months. And I still cry. Just listening on RUclips.
Ikr I cry listing to this alot
Who else cried
No just me
The Musical Is Just So Beautiful And You Can Learn So Much!!!
me
I didn’t, but as a Canadian this did make me feel good!
Edac Enarc almost every time I listen to this - but seeing on stage- I was a blubbering mess.
I have only listened to only about half of the sound track and I have cried at "Prayer" so far.
When come from away tours I really hope they come to Newfoundland. I would really love to see it😊
do u live there?
They came to Gander before Broadway but I didn’t get to see it because I had to work.
You can always drive out to Toronto and come see it
orangeborangebaz Tv it’s a bit of a drive from Gander to Toronto....
@@Duessa2000 I mean u could fly or you know is about a few days drive
I CRIED WHEN NIC SAID HE PROPOSED honestly their whole relationship makes me so happy
I really REALLY hope someone makes an attempt at an Animatic out of something from this Musical. Just because you could get some really nice art out of some of it.
I didn't know otters were prevalent in Newfoundland.
One plane then an otter,
Then thirteen planes then an otter,
Then nineteen planes then an otter,
Then twenty six planes then an otter,
Then twenty nine planes then an otter,
Then thirty two planes then an otter,

MY SCHOOL'S GOING TO GO SEE IT AND I'M SO EXCITED
Saw the show in NYC last weekend...so amazingly good! I laughed and cried and we all cheered at the end. Can't wait to see Come From Away again.
Lucky...
Married to a Newfie I cannot be prouder! This musical warms my heart. Visit Newfoundland and witness what its all about!
"FOR JESUS SAKE STOP BRINGING TOILET PAPER TO THE LIONS CLUB"
"WELL YOU ASKED"
You don't get just how funny and ironic this is again.
Then covid 19 hit and they said "nevermind bring all tp to the lions club"
Show is so pure allows a terrible land to create something beautiful.... everything is for a purpose even if people died for us helping or just at the wrong place at the wrong time. This show is pure beauty true events with real people come together by a single horrible event..... I could have never been happier with musicals
Gamer Drawn literally listened to the whole soundtrack at 3am and that’s the part that made me cry
This was the most breath taking thing I've ever seen live. After seeing it, I was speechless, but I couldn't stop going on about it!!!
I just saw this musical with my synagogue in NYC after visiting the 9/11 memorial, it was so powerful and the music is amazing. I’m going to see it a second time in my hometown!
Omg, i saw this with jewish day school after i went to memorial
i get chills every time she says “the one thing i loved more than anything was used as the bomb” i LOVE this show
the moment hannah says hes gone.... ok im done brawling my eyes out.
i saw this show with my theatre studies class with the australian class earlier this year, and let me tell you, i was in as many tears watching the show live as i am every time i listen to the soundtrack all over again. it's such a powerful musical with such a strong message and story and it's just. so important. i'm glad i was able to see it and i'm honestly never going to get tired of it. ☆
Thank you for shopping at Walmart would u like to come back to my house.....it killed me
You must have seen the actual show. A lot of great material didn't make it to the sound track.
that was the best line of the play 😂
If you guys get a chance, watch the documentary "You are here: A come from away story". It's so cool to hear a lot of stories that didn't make it into the show and also see Nick, Diane, the Kevins and all these characters in real life.
I'm not worried about quarantine, I'm not worried about how much weight I've gained, I'm slightly worried about how much I listen to this soundtrack!
"Near, far, WHEREVER WE ARE!"
That line always does it for me.
Prayer hit me square in the feels and got me blubbing such an amazing story and show
Why did i never listen to the entire soundtrack until now? This is amazing!
I so badly want to see this musical! I'm already obsessed with it!
I also want to go on a trip to the East coast, it sounds like so much funnn
I found this musical last year. I think I am developing a habit of listening to this soundtrack on my birthdays which happens to be September 11. If we count the time zones(I'm from Europe), I was born about an hour or less after the tragedy... So this musical, and everything that happened 19 years ago makes me reflect on my life in a weird light... It's kind of making me feel like I'm strangely part of a circle of life (quote intended)... This musical helps me think about all that.
This is one of my favorite musicals and I have memorized every song!!!
My new favorite musical! So beautiful how the people can come together after something so tragic happened.
So proud of my fellow Newfoundlanders.... 💞
I got to see the show in NYC, it's truly powerful and chilling. I loved it
This is one of the most underrated shows ever and it’s so good. I wish more people got into it because truly it’s a masterpiece
I needed to hear this today 9/11/2020!!! Thank you!! God have mercy on us all!!
Best show! I saw it with mommy friends, I freaking LOVED IT!!!
*my, not mommy
Hahaha! Lucky...!
Aww, I wanna see it! Lucky! XD
I saw this when I went to New York with my school's band, such an amazing show, love it!!
Stand-out lines from every song:
1. "Jesus H. Oz, turn on your radio!"
2. "Hooooly Shit."
3. "I need something to do, cause I can't watch the news. No I can't watch the news anymore!"
4. "Tom, who was in the air?"
5. "Someone says he got questioned. Someone says he got searched. And now, he's on our bus."
6. "I'll help you find a phone as soon as we get...wherever we're going."
7. "And that's when we started speaking the same language."
8. "I didn't even think--they haven't seen any of it yet."
9. "Pick up!"
10. "I've been going all night, but I can't stop. None of us can. I splash some cold water on my face and just keep going."
11. "All I know is you are there...you _are there._ and I am here."
12. "So many stories gone, just like that...I needed to tell someone."
13. "You don't look American!"
14. "Let's make these people honorary Newfoundlanders!"
15. "And then they brought the cod."
16. "And the one thing I loved more than anything
was used as the bomb."
17. "I don't want to go."
18. "Where the continents once crashed together
before they went their separate ways forever."
19. "We've just crossed the Canadian border, welcome back to the U S of A!"
20. "...He's gone."
21. To the ones who’ve left: You’re never truly gone
. A candle’s in the window and the kettle’s always on."
Simply love this musical. I can't wait for the theatres to reopen so I can take my partner to see it again.
saw this show a few days ago. AMAZING! Best new musical I've seen in forever. Cannot say enough about how well this was done. I was choked up right from the start.
I just saw it last night with my school. It was so good, I loved it!
Okay so where’s your school and how do I enroll
I’m from gander, and the creators of the show brought it to gander before it was put out, so I got to see it at our local arts and culture Centre! It was amazing and everyone cried because everyone there lived the story, knew the people, I know everyone who had a character based off them! It was so moving and so uplifting!
Heard this for the first time today. Absolutely incredible. A lot of people the world over need to hear this right now.
No more appropriate day to listen to this FANTASTIC show again!!
I saw this in Toronto last Fall. It is truly wonderful. I have never been to a musical that evoked so many feelings. I would see it again if I could. So proud to be Canadian and yes! Newfoundlanders are really like this!!❤
I saw this on a band trip to Toronto live, and it was phenomenal!! Just the soundtrack truly doesn't do it justice
I just saw this on Broadway. It was honestly one of the most amazing things I have ever witnessed!
So good. This musical is truly an inspiration.
I love this musical so damn much I would do anything to see it!!!!
the song the prayer is just so powerful i am crying omg its so amazing that they can show the differences between religions and people but also its all harmonizing and oh my god its crazy
So proud to be canadian!! We would do it all over again! 💜❤️💕
Just saw two of the people from this sing two of the songs on the boardwalk and it brought me and my mom to tears.
I get goosebumps whenever I listen to "Something's missing", such an amazing song
I'm in the middle of revising for exams, and I think responsible for about 200 of the views, i've been listening to it on repeat for 4 days straight, and i'm still having an absolute party in my head, when I'm an islander comes on
"Lead us Out if the Night" is SUCH a powerful song......it's soooo sad too..AWESOME musical!
Man I saw this live a few years back and just found this in my recommendations...I cried 4 times lmao
thank you so much for having no ads♥️♥️♥️♥️
I just watched it on Broadway with my dad. It's so amazing.
Saw it in London some weeks ago. It was... well, I cried, and laugh, and had such good time. Would definitely see it again!!
I was able to see it on Wednesday at the Schoenfeld Theatre. It was magical! I would definitely see it again if i could!
By far one of the best soundtracks I've ever heard.
I saw this in New York last week. Now I'm on a plane listening to this near tears. Incredible show.
Saw this in NYC, no idea what to expect - couldn't clap hard enough during Screech Out. One hour and five minutes of amazing.
I just realised that Kevin really didn't ever kiss his boyfriend again after the fish.
I don't know why, but I find it hilarious that Kevin legit broke up with Kevin cus he was being such a partypooper
@@tevvytevvy2672 I believe there were more problems between them.
