It's good to hear about the much improved security in El Salvador. I taught with a woman whose family came from there and she mentioned how dangerous it was. Amazing what a quick turnaround...shows how we can make changes and improves the lives of everyone. You two make great ambassadors wherever you travel....that's a great skill that very few people have. A smile and conversation will do wonders.
Yes people in the country really saw a change in their daily life for the better. They mostly experience a super positive change. As long as you don’t have a relative who get wrongly arrested
@@NextMeridianExpedition if a relative gets arrested it will be for a good reason. No one is being arrested without criminal charges. There is a small percent of people wrongfully arrested however have been ralease, around one thousand out of 60 thousand. The margen of error is very minimal. Any who anyone in jail will always say was convicted wrongfully and claim to be innocent. However a court always decides otherwise. In El Salvador these rights haven’t been taken away.. they all go thru the process. It’s just a quicker process instead of waiting for years before getting convicted or release. If anything this quicker way of the judicial system it’s better than old judicial system, the old judicial system could be easily bought. We Salvadorans are happy about the change and want to keep it that way. Thank you for sharing the reality of our country El Salvador.
El Salvador was a dangerous place, people had to flee violence etc, old governments never worked for the people, they worked for themselves. Anywho little by little El Salvador is changing.
I've met many El Salvadorians that had their families brutally murdered by ms13 Its no joke, and liberals LOVE to downplay gang violence.... El Salvador did the right thing by arresting the gangs

I am glad to see El Salvador is becoming safer. Maybe I can fulfill a dream to surf "La Libertad area " in El Salvador. Also thanks for the tour as it is one of the best tours I have seen on YT.
On the Pacific side, yes. The Atlantic side is more mixed because the terrain is often very flat and makes a swampy transition to the sea. There are some good beaches on the Atlantic but it is not the whole coast unlike the Pacific coast.
Thank for the El Salvadoran experience, Mathilde and Nick. Great coverage, as always-superb drone shots, colourful subject matter, and informative facts.
Good video. Just got back from El Salvador yesterday. It has been six years since last visit. Much safer now. The Salvadorans, whether in El Salvador, or in the USA where I live, are some of the nicest, most honest people, I've ever met. I felt safer in San Salvador during this most recent visit, than I feel in most big US cities.
Another great video and very educational. You really show us the way of life and no matter where you go you fit in well. You show us exactly what it's like and you do not judge!! 👍🏻👍🏻✌🏻

As always so fun to travel vicariously through you. Your commentary about El Salvadore are very heartfelt...I am happy for the change and sad for any innocent people being jailed. Though it seems to happen everywhere. That waterfall was stunning and the drone shots of the volcano...amazing. Thank you! Made my morning.
Theresa my dear , there is no inocents people being jailed, I can promise you that , is the yellow papers always informing the wrong stuff , If a person is being jailed is because it deserves it , how can they be inocent with many tear tattoos on their face, you know what they mean I hope.
I Watch your video because it was in English, I tend to see what the world is saying about my beautiful small country, and for the most part I am very thankful and happy when outsiders visit, BUT I felt that from the opening few seconds of your video, every good you said was countered with lots of negative, beach was crowded, river water was dirty, pupusas tasted like ham, cheese and bacon, as you mentioned El Salvador USED to be a very violent and dangerous place and if you didn’t experience it, it’s hard to understand the trauma thousands of people lived through, street vendors were getting killed for not paying rent to gangs, if your brother or relatives lived a few blocks away and you were unable to visit because you were considered a rival and could easily be kill, for just visiting, any ways if you never experienced it you can’t understand, therefore YOU saying that innocent people are jailed , get informed and get a small glimpse of what these people lived through for many decades, I was very disappointed with your video and was kind of glad you left quickly, we need optimism not pessimism…..thank you….
Hi Rafael, we are sorry it came across this way to you. We repeated several time we really enjoyed travelling in El Salvador untill the last minute of the video that is the conclusion : super positive time . I think if you read the comments people see it is a positive feedback for the great majority. We explained for instance it was super busy because it is Holy Week That s just because that was our experience. As you say as well, We surely cannot grasp all of it as, as you say, we can’t understand all of it in this short time. I would expect someone visiting my country to criticize the dirtiness and paris, moodiness of French people and how the government handles demonstrations if that’s what he or she feels from his or her experience. But again I am sorry if you felt too much negativity in this video. It was not meant that way and I hope more people will see the positive aspects highlighted. All the best. PS: we think you are right to raise those points. And your pov is fair. So we hope this response does not trigger negative debates either 😊
Rafael, it’s good to have other points of views; over all it was a good point of view. I do understand that they would have needed to live what we Lived as Salvadorians to understand the reality of the process we are going thru. Good video about El Salvador, however, I did take objection with one of your comments. There are innocent people being accused of committing a crime and imprisoned all over the world. For example, in the US, where I lived for most of my life, in France, etc. No country is exempt from this and no judicial system is perfect. All the state of emergency did was extend from 3 days to 15 days the time the authorities have to detain you and prove you committed a crime because of the high number of cases as detainments increased. Also, if they have probable cause they can go into your house and check your phone and other personal belongings. For those of us who lost a family member to gang crime, we see things differently from others because we focus more on our lost ones and the potential victims than on the criminals and the few innocents who will be freed once nothing is found against them, as has been the case of some of my friends.
Once I visited my dad in Santa Ana on december 2017 and I saw a gringa walking around street and I said she's brave nowadays more gringos are coming to visit this tiny country and they feel safe so welcome and have good time.
The issue of violence and gang problems were more for the local people, those whom had to endure gang activities in the communities etc those whom had to pay “rentas.” And not for foreigners, if anything foreigners were good for business. I visited many bars in Acajutla, bars run and control by gangs, and foreigners were treated well, saw many sailers from other countries had a good time while gang members were inside the same bar. So the issue was more for locals, not for those traveling or visiting and of course for those whom didn’t look close to being a gringo 😂.
There is always so much to see, as we are on a world tour we make choices and just discover each place partially but in the end we can always come back! we loved it
In 1970 I travelled to El Salvador for work. My brother who operated McCormick Spices there told me if driving never to stop if I hit something or someone as every Salvadoran Carries a machete and will kill anyone hitting their pet or a person. It was violent then and up to just recently.
@@NextMeridianExpedition definitely. If you ever decide to go back. Don’t hesitate to message. Heck if you just want authentic pupusas. Come to the states and I would be glad to have my mom or aunt whip up some for you along with other cultural dishes. The one thing about El Salvador that makes us stand out is the farm to table flavors! Everyone loves a good cheesy pupusa when done right
I'm disappointed that you guys didn't eat the "Traditional" pupusa 😟 The ones you guys had were made of rice not the typical CORN. I'm confused why you guys didn't see pupusa restaurants or stands? They are sold everywhere at any time of the day. Maybe next time, enjoy your trip and have fun! 😉
Because they were not interested in the country. It wasn’t the intention to visit the country. They just want more views. Very superficial French traveler’s. Normally French are not like that. They are interested in other cultures. Very superficial.
I know !!!! we tried ! but often we go in towns the morning and early afternoon but then we go and find a place to sleep in the nature. so maybe when we are in town it s too early to find the pupusa!!?
Yes we have accumulated quite a bit of delay during the surgery in Mexico. The countries are beautiful but we can get a good grasp of the places in one week even though we don’t see it all. So we are keeping on the move. We did stay a month in Guatemala !
It is very sad that the international media always belittles Central America, but we are happy that you came and hopefully one day you come back.

In 1970 I travelled to El Salvador for work. My brother who operated McCormick Spices there told me if driving never to stop if I hit something or someone as every Salvadoran Carries a machete and will kill anyone hitting their pet or a person. It was violent then and up to just recently.
En San Salvador si encuentras pupusas para el desayuno que raro que Santa Ana no hagan pupusas por la mañana
Para nosotros también era raro. pero preguntamos a 5 personas en la ciudad y todas nos dijeron esto ...
My family is from Usulutan El Salvador and we eat pupusas at all times of the day. Morning afternoon, evening doesn’t matter!!
Oooh we should have gone there! That s what we were told in Santa Ana !
Everyone loves a good cheesy pupusa when done right
Very interesting. The possible price of the crackdown on the innocent is worrisome.
Good job El Salvador
Ubiese sido bonito más videos de El Salvador vendisiones en su viaje
Si nos gustaria volver un Dia.
You're getting through Central America very fast. Two more countries and you will be in beautiful Costa Rica.
Yes we have accumulated quite a bit of delay during the surgery in Mexico. The countries are beautiful but we can get a good grasp of the places in one week even though we don’t see it all. So we are keeping on the move. We did stay a month in Guatemala !
@@NextMeridianExpedition You are both doing a great job.
