From scaring people on the plane by wearing a motorcycle helmet to leaving your backpack at an overlook you've had quite the adventure on that Vespa 946. It's the sort of riding that I dream about but have not had the opportunity to make. My own adventures have been crowded into single days for the most part with only a few involving overnight stays. That scooter is unique and beautiful. A work of art. And seeing the indication of a 72 MPH speed made me think you must have fallen off the side of a steep cliff somewhere. Thanks for sharing part 1. I'm looking forward to part 2 and the Blue Ridge Parkway!
What an adventure. I've never been much into scooters, but when GloChix said she would ride her own if she didn't have to shift gears, deal breaker. Her first scooter I bought up in Nashville, a little over an hour and a half north of home. Took the car, she wanted ME to ride her first scoot home for her. When I was going down the on-ramp and hitting 70 mph before hitting the flat rock, I knew she would be able to keep up with me on long rides. She has gone a bit over 80 mph on the interstate as we were on long distance rides. Silly me, I always pictured scooters as lucky to hit 35 mph. Hahahaha. I look forward to the rest of your adventure.
@@KrakensGarageandAdventures Yeah, some of the smaller scoots can barely go the speed limit on the interstate. GloChix has a 300 and it will fly faster than I thought possible. I talked to a guy with a Suzuki Bergman, I believe that's what it is called, it was a 650 and he said he had it up to 100 mph. Impressive for a scooter. One of my former professors in grad school had a Vespa. He said he loved it, but he was much of a rider, really. His wife and him liked riding around town "pretending we are cruising the streets in Tuscany." Hahahaha.
