Deaf Day of Play 2024

Rochester Institute of Technology’s National Technical Institute for the Deaf (NTID) and The Strong have partnered to celebrate National Deaf History Month with a Deaf Day of Play at the museum. Pro-bono interpreting services were provided by NTID senior students throughout the day.
Families learned about butterflies from a museum biologist in the Dancing Wings Butterfly Garden, enjoyed ASL story times with the Rochester School for the Deaf in the Storybook Theater. In the Play Lab, kids created stop motion ASL videos and joined the ROC HCI research group to learn about their Tabletop Interactive Play System.
