Answers to your questions! 1. Bangla / Bengali (the Anglicised name for Bangla) = language spoken both in Bangladesh (country) and West Bengal (Indian state), both together comprised the region of Bengal which was divided by the British on the basis of religion but the people from both places are mostly of the same ethnicity (Bengalis). The border between Bangladesh and West Bengal is extremely porous and many of us have family/ancestral homes across the border on the other side till this date. Indian subcontinent has complicated history (largely thanks to the Brits who completely messed the whole region up!) and many diverse communities in terms of ethnicities, language, culture, religion, etc, so can be confusing for outsiders not familiar with the region's history. 2. The instrument at 6:56 that looks like Sitar with a bow is called Esraj, a local instrument. Bansuri is flute. Shanai (in Bangla)/Shehnai (in Hindi/Urdu) you have already looked up :) 3. Chiltey Roud is a fusion of two songs, both basically expressing the same emotion - yearning for a loved one - but first one (Chilte Roud) is a contemporary song depicting how urban modern Bangladeshi societies express themselves (more subtle or layered expressions) while the second song is an old traditional folk song from Northern region of Bangladesh depicting how rural people from the villages express themselves (more straightforward, jarring, cuts straight through). 4. Arnob (the first singer in Chilte Roud) is also the main man and music producer behind Coke Studio Bangla, so you will see him (and the house band including Mithun Chakra) in most of the Coke Studio Bangla songs. He is an absolute genius so please listen to his own music too if you can! His music is sure to soothe your soul! Both Bengals (Bangladesh and West Bengal) adore him and now thanks to Coke Studio, the world is getting to discover him too. He also produced and composed the music for Bhober Pagol. Also, the very first time you reacted to Coke Studio Bangla (Ekla Cholo), AGES AGO!, you loved his soft melodious voice when the second verse started (with the words jodi keo kotha na koy) and had asked who he was! :D 5. Nesha Lagilo Re: Bengal is culturally very rich so there is a long history of bards, minstrels, philosophers, poets, preachers etc. including Nobel Laureate Tagore and philisopher poet Fakir Lalon Shah. Hason Raja is one such legendary poet and Nesha Lagilo Re is one of his most famous songs. You will find all platforms and many of our contemporary artists and bands covering, fusing or influenced by many of these old poets and traditional forms of music as they are still very much revered. IPDC is more traditional and theatrical style of production (local form of theatre i.e.). Their presentations will give you an idea of the traditional taste in arts and culture of our gen pop while Coke Studio and Wind of Change are more experimental presentations. We also have a very solid and established rock/band music industry (to name just a few, Warfaze, Artcell, Nagorbaul, LRB, Miles, Aurthohin, Nemesis... definitely deserves a separate podcast!). Bangladesh is made up of rivers, vast agricultural lands and a few mad crowded, bustling bursting at the seams cities, you will find influence of all these elements (but esp nature and rivers) in all our music and imagery used in our lyrics. We are also very political and that is also present in a lot of our music (our national poet Kazi Nazrul Islam is referred to as the Rebel poet for his revolutionary songs, some of which were used to inspire and motivate our people and soldiers during our Liberation War against Pakistan). 6. Hiphop in Bangladesh has remained more of an underground genre, unable yet to break into the mainstream but the artists who have managed to break out over the last 2 decades have a very solid and strong fanbase (though mostly only young urban Bangladeshis, while the more traditional genres are enjoyed by both Bangladeshi and West Bengali audiences). So much kudos to Coke Studio for bringing Jalali Set to such a huge platform and giving them exposure to the masses! But it's popping now alright! :D 7. Yes the music for Bhober Pagol (what a beast of a song!) was composed and arranged by Arnob and the musicians specifically for this track. 8. Instrument at 55:45 that is played like a guitar is called Sarod, usually played in classical music of Bangladesh, India and Pakistan. 9. Bulbuli is nightingale bird :) In the male verses of the song sung by Ritu Raj, the poet (Kazi Nazrul Islam) is requesting the nightingale to be still as the garden is still in deep slumber despite Spring nearly at its door while also lamenting why it hasn't woken up yet and wondering when the flower fairy/princess will finally reveal herself, so the female part by Nandita is like the flower fairy is responding as though she has just been stirred awake as Spring is here (so her airy, light, flittering tone of voice is meant to depict that I think). The tune for the second part/female verse has also been composed by Arnob who is the main composer/musical director for the whole Coke Studio Bangla series as mentioned above, though the musical director for this particular track is Shuvo (whom you saw playing the mandolin in Nasek Nasek and classical/Spanish guitar in this track).

Okay to clarify it a little bit for you guys- Bangladesh - is the country Bengal- is a state in India Bangla/Bengali- is the language spoken in BOTH these places Bangali- are the people that speak bangla I hope this helps a little😅
The language spoken in Bangladesh is Bengali, and Bengali is spoken in Indian state of West Bengal as well. Shaan, Shreya Ghoshal, Arijit Singh, many famous singers belong from this state. I'm Indian Bengali as well. During our independence, Britain divided us in religious lines and made muslim dominated area into Bangladesh, and Hindu dominated area is now in India. But basically we are the same.
Britishers never created Bangladesh. They created East Pakistan which got liberated from Pakistan with the help of India in 1971. Keep your facts right
@@sohailahamed7957 bro, I know my facts. But I ain't got the time to type out everything all day bro. Kintu dhonnobad, bhool ta point out koraar jonno. 👍
@@sohailahamed7957 the British divided Bengal into two in 1905 under governor Lord Curzon West Bengal was Hindu dominated while East Bengal was Muslim dominated. So i would count thee 1905 Bengal partition as the inception of modern Bangladesh as a seperate entity .
Actually not a lot of people know this but the official language of the state of Tripura is also Bangla. The Most spoken Language in Andaman and Nicobar Islands is also Bangla. My Family is From West Bengal and Andaman :))
Hi! Being a Bangladeshi, I feel incredibly proud of this podcast. Heartfelt regards go to both of you for doing this. There are so much more that you can unveil. Hope you get to do more Bangladeshi music reactions in future. Thanks again ❤️
@@spilltea4241 Son the name is Bangladesh. The land of Bangla. Whom do you expect to have more accurate Bengali experience than Bangladesh? Don't know where you are from but there ain't any country can represent Bangla like Bangladesh. Just dig it.
@@FarhanHasan007 England does not have more English accuracy than Great Britain just bcz they have English(Eng) in their name. Lol. No offence, but Bangladeshis(like an average person) pronounce some words differently even in the shuddho bhasha. Example: ছ is pronounced as a "S" sound even tho it should be "Chh". করতেছে is used instead of করছে etc. Not to mention how much Urdu- Bangladeshis have incorporated into their language.
@@s.majumdar9388 Mate, Bangladesh is quite diverse with its local accent. Do you have an evidence to show the motherland of Bangla origin? There are lot of things to argue. And, it's really awkward to judge স with ছ। I can pinpoint a lot of pronunciation errors from West Bangla, Assam, Tripura and rest of the Bangla speaking areas. But, in reality there is nothing wrong with that. It's the people who has changed the way of speaking over time. There again, we got two classification of Bangla language. সাধু ভাষা এবং চলিত ভাষা, In Bangladesh people prefer to use more casual way of speaking, but in terms of writing it’s more formal. Absolutely depends on person and the background. No offence, don't be so judgemental.
So glad to see you discover Bangla music. Bangla is the language spoken both in Bangladesh and the Bengal region in India... Hope you will also check out some music from the Bengal region in India. Actually, Bengalis both in Bangladesh and India love the same music. Growing up, I was a big fan of Bangladeshi bands like LRB, Miles and Nogor Baul, and also bands from Bengal like Mohiner Ghoraguli, Fossils, Cactus, Chandrabindoo etc.
Dear friends, the music from Bengal - both the country Bangladesh as well as the Indian state of West Bengal (they were the same piece of land and culture before 1947) - is so so reach that it's actually unfathomable. Keep exploring and you can't but fall in love with every aspect of the music of the land.
Bengali or Bangla is the language. Bengalis are the ethnic demography that speaks Bengali with 110million speakers in India & 170million speakers in Bangladesh. Bangladeshi is a nationality (like Indian). So not all Bengalis are not Bangladeshis and not all Bangladeshis are Bengalis (u must remember this) As u know just like rest of India, Bengal was too partitioned in two on the basis of religion. The muslim majority part became independent country while the Hindu majority region became a federal state in India called West Bengal. Hope this helps clear out ur confusion ❤️ Joy bangla Hope this helps
Tell u what...The singers of the second song r actually full time & well respected actors !!!!👍 BD has been way ahead in the band culture in south east Asia..I would say...since a long time back...like the 80s.....!!!!!

Hello, 16:18 the Time signature is 7/8. This rhythm is called Tewra. It has 7 beats in it like this:- 123 | 45 |67 . In this composition, sometime, they break it like this-- 7 beats * 4 circles = 28 beats. 123456 123456 123456 123456 1234. Now count this at double speed. and you'll understand how they made it sound triplet. 49:23 That instrument is called Esraj. It has a fretboard like sitar with 15 sympathetic strings, but is is played with a bow. The North Indian flute (Transverse Flute) is called Bansuri.
To all the bangla friends listening. I always get excited to hear Bangladesh national anthem whenever i watch cricket. I think it is th emoat rythmuc melodious national anthem i hv heard. Best. 🙏

That wind instrument at 9:58 is called a Shehnai or Sannai in southern states. It’s used in Indian and Bangladeshi weddings. Here it invokes melancholy.

Unfortunately this one has no CC] You can check out some Bangladeshi/Bengali songs from films: - Jao Pakhi Bolo Tare ( ruclips.net/video/78coD49Cd8g/видео.html ) [This is the most famous version] - Orey Neel Doriya ( ruclips.net/video/Pcl2KKJcBus/видео.html ) [This version is sung by an Indian-Assamese singer called Papon on a Bangladeshi music show] - Takey Olpo Kachey Takley ( ruclips.net/video/Nly8TUAGyYI/видео.html ) [The song is sung by a Bangladeshi singer for an Indian-Bengali film] - Jontrona ( ruclips.net/video/9NwAD2Dje1s/видео.html ) [It's a song that isn't what you would usually hear in the Bangladeshi music scene but nonetheless an amazing song] - Tapur Tupur ( ruclips.net/video/LTsxOzNdbRQ/видео.html ) [An Indian- Bengali song] You can also check out Nish a Bangladeshi-UK singer and Muza a Bangladeshi-American singer/producer who makes more urban type of songs: - Maney Na ( ruclips.net/video/gUfbntspi40/видео.html ) - Homecoming ( ruclips.net/video/Bae4ZWU8o84/видео.html ) - Bangla Medley🇧🇩 ( ruclips.net/video/dzICcFxN4HU/видео.html ) [It's a medley of some iconic Bangladeshi folk songs] - Bhromor Koyio Gia ( ruclips.net/video/W9PZx55dayw/видео.html ) [This is a modern cover of a traditional folk song] Just so you know many of the traditional songs are Baul based, a genre of music from Bengal. Although I didn't recommend some "sub-genres", I hope you slowly discover Rabindra Sangeet (Rabindranath Tagore songs), Lalon Geeti (Lalon Shah/ Lalon Fakir songs) & Nuzrul Geeti (Kazi Nuzrul Islam songs), they are icons for us Bengalis and have a huge impact on our traditional music. Also some information about Bengal. It's a region from where Bengali's (an ethno-linguistic group) are from but it is not the only ethnic group, maybe the majority but not the only. Bengal is divided into two, West Bengal (which is a state in India) & East Bengal aka Bangladesh, we call our language Bangla but there are many dialects of Bangla as well as other languages spoken in Bengal. West Bengal is a Hindu majority state whilst Bangladesh is a Muslim majority state, so that would be the biggest cause to some of our differences in lifestyles otherwise we all belong to one ethnic group and are pretty much the same. If you want to talk about Bangladesh specifically the correct terminology would be 'Bangladeshi' whilst 'Bengali' can refer to things from both West Bengal & Bangladesh (East Bengal).
The last song 'jodi thake nosibe' is very emotional song 'this songs summary: if someone is destined to b with, eventually he/she will. Don’t force her/him to love u. But even though we know those our heart really doesn’t' wanna listen. We become stubborn & egoless when it comes to love' 🥺🥺🥺
I can still remember when you first react coke studio bangla song and you were emerged to hear a voice and told " whose voice is this wow! The voice is the man who play the guiter in white shirt, The Arnob, Musician, Magician and the producer of the coke studio bangla this season

As a Bangladeshi I'll just tell you to check one band called "Warfaze" and from there you will enter into the band music scene of Bangladesh which is probably the most underrated music scene in the world.
That Bass player's name is Resalat Rasheed. He has a very different day job in London. Arnob lured him back to playing bass during the production of Coke Studio Bangla and hence we are blessed with his playing again.
It just makes me so happy to see you guys enjoying my country’s musics. And obviously we want you to enjoy more songs of Bangladesh 🇧🇩. Just feel comfortable to listen to anything you like. Seeing you guys vibing makes me feel happy ^-^
Whatta miracle!! I was missing you people today so I thought I'd go check out if you guys have reacted to any Coke Studio Bangal music lately. As a Bangladeshi i must help u clear up the confusion, so India, Pakistan and Bangladesh used to be one country and when they broke up a part of the bengal state went to India which is now known as "east bengal" and the other larger part went to well obviously Bangladesh which amongst us Bengalis is known as "west bengal" and this was only about 75/76 years ago so the last 2000/4000 years of history is still shared between us ☺️☺️
Also plz check the following songs also: 1.Ei Obelay by Shironamhin 2.Kobita by James 3.Jao Pakhi by Krishnokol 4.Haste Dekho by Ayub Bacchu 5.Ami Chanchalo hey by Jayti(from REKKA)

The Bulbuli song was written and composed by our national poet "Kazi Nazrul Islam". He fought in the 2nd world war and was posted in the middle east. That era had a big influence on his compositions. After returning from the war, he composed some music influenced by Arabic and north African music. Don't know exactly how he was influenced by Spanish music, but sure he was. Though he mostly composed music based on Indian Ragas, he surely did some experiment.
Flamenco music and other Latin music vibes were created by people of Romani Ethnicity in Europe, who were actually genetically and culturally same/descendants of Aryavarthan (aka Indian) people. hence, Latin music is 2nd nature, and mixes easily with music of Indian Subcontinent (ie. From Iran to all the way to SE Asia).
Thank you so much for reacting and loving our music...you don't have any idea how big fan i'm of your reactions of hindi music but i always dreamed when you two will react so many songs of us and feels the warmth and love for music from us.. Today after seeing you upload a whole video about Bengali music ( despite not getting much views than other popular reaction) i felt the most happiest things happens today just because of you.. Love from Bangladesh and please react our stuff more.❤️🇧🇩
Bengali is spoken in Bangladesh and West Bengal. British didn't create Bangladesh was created through an independent struggle in 1971. Yes India did help in Bangladesh but at the very end in the last month i.e. when India so that independence was near. India just wanted to take the ultimate credit. Most of the freedom fighting for the independence of Bangladesh was done by the Bangladeshis
55:50 its called - Sarod.... A brilliant classical music instrument... My favourite.... 90% times used in classical music setup...Ustad Amjad ali khan was a very famous sarod player.... U guys can watch/listen to one of his youtube vidoes.... And one more thing, i think that instrument efra is calling as - bansoori is actually called - sarangi/esraaj...its also a marvelous sounding instruments..bansoori is actually hindi name of long or short bamboo flutes.... At 57:48 its called santoor.... Another classical instrument of indian subcontinent.... Recently deceased pandit shivkumar sharma was a santoor maestro....u should react to one of his videos as well.... And that papon's song was kind of a ghazal styled composition with moderon alt-rockish rhythm setups....ghazal is a semi classical genre music, sung about love, pains in a specific poetic style... The lyrics of ghazals are called 'sher' or 'shaayeri' and the lyricists are known as 'shaayer'
I was waiting for you to react to Chiltey Roud!!!! That performance takes you places and if you saw the bts of that performance you'd see that ALL the artists talking about how emotional they became because of Boga's singing. They said they kept getting distracted by his emotions and couldn't focus on playing their own instruments. Arnob is also a genius bc he produced this performance as well as most if not all the Coke Studio Bangla performances so far! Bangla is such a beautiful language and artists from Bangladesh are so underrated especially since our folk music and instruments are unmatched. Our music comes from the soul and unites the entire country.
@42:40 you were asking what is the current pop in BD. In that case, I recommend you check out Pritom Hasan's Moray Jak. It was released a few months ago. This particular track honestly stunned me. Pritom collaborated with a French singer in this track
Maybe the reason you've found Spanish vibe from "Bulbuli" is because it's a Ghazal. And while evolving throughout the centuries, Ghazal was influenced by Spanish culture among others (correct me if I'm wrong).
*Hey, don't let the words Bangla, Bengali, Bangladesh, etc baffle you too much! No need to sweat over their differences - it's pretty simple really.* 🤣 1. Bangla and Bengali is the same thing, ie name of the same language! Bangla = Bengali! Like English = Inglês, I guess. The authentic native form of the word is "Bangla", while "Bengali" is its anglicized form. That's all. 2. "Bangladesh" is the name of a country. It's not the name of the language. It literally means though - _Land of Bangla - or - Land of the Bangla speakers!_ "Desh" means 'country'. 99% of the population of this country are native Bangla speakers. This is the only country in the world where the overwhelming majority of the population speak Bangla aka Bengali as their mother / native tongue; this is the country where probably two-thirds of all Bangla speakers in the world live; the only country where the sole State / National / Official language of the country is Bangla / Bengali. Nevertheless, there ARE native ethnic and linguistic minorities in the country, amounting to a couple of millions I think (not sure). The first song from _Coke Studio Bangla_ -- _"Nasek Nasek "_ is from one such ethnic and linguistic minority community called "Hajong" from the 'Mymensingh' area of Bangladesh. 3. While 'Bangladesh' as a _country_ has a defined geographical border, _"Bangla / Bengal i"_ as a language, like many other languages in the world, has not. Many people (less than Bangladesh though in both number and percentage) in its neighbouring country "India", mostly in the bordering (bordering Bangladesh) Indian states of West Bengal, Tripura and in a part of the Indian state Assam, speak Bangla / Bengali too. It's one among 22 scheduled languages of India. This is why you see Bengali / Bangla singers from both Bangladesh and India!! Just like, say, the English (British) singer John Lennon from UK and Elvis Presley from the US who also sang in English. 🤣 4. While "Coke Studio India" and "Coke Studio Pakistan" are named according to their respective country names, I don't know EXACTLY what reasoning went behind the naming of this "Coke Studio Bangla" (according to the name of the language instead of the country name - Bangladesh) -- since it is really a version of Coke Studio that is based and produced in and focuses on songs and singers from "Bangladesh". I have a hunch / guess as to why, but I don't know for sure, so don't want to speculate on that here. This got some Bangladeshis pretty confused and upset though!!! ha ha ha... You can email and ask Mr Arnob of Coke Studio Bangla, if you want to. 🤣😂😆 Hope this helps!
Before the independence of Bangladesh, India, Sri Lanka, and Pakistan, this whole region was called Indian subcontinent by Brits. At that time, West Bengal and today's Bangladesh were a single kingdom called the Bangla. But it was divided into a nation and a region in India after the independence of these three countries.
The instrument Efra keeps telling bansuri is actually Eashraj And also Coke Studio Bangla mentions the music director and producer "Arnob" everytime Yes Waleska was right Arnob the music director of Coke Studio Bangla is always involved in the performance as a vocalist or instrument player
Being a 90s kid,we Bangladeshis were more into rock genre songs,it's still the most popular genre we listen to.Warfaze,Aurthohin,Artcell are among the most popular bands till now.
dear you should have researched Bangladesh music... We are quite rich in all sorts of Rock/metal Band music... Best in whole south asia. To add More, we have a rich cultural history roots to indian sub continental music. Thanks for your thoughtful comments.
the second song you guys reacted (Nisha lagilo re) is a very popular Bengali Folk song by Hason Raja (1854-1922) who was a very prominent Bengali Folk poet and songwriter. Bangladesh is a very small country, but the diversity in the music is just magnificent... from folk to hard rock metal, you will find everything in this small land!
Love your in-depth dives into music and the details that you guys point out. And above all, your enthusiasm and the energy is so infectious, you have become on e of my favourite youtubers in a very short time span. Wherever u read the word Indian subcontinent, it includes India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. That was previously known as Indian subcontinent and the three countries have more or less same musical instruments.
@@sarahnasir2869 People of Sri Lanka, were Vedda, now Sinhala and Tamil, Vedda were people from North and Central India, King Ashoka's son and a daughter were sent to Sri Lanka later to plant a seed of Bodhi tree that created the base for Nepal becoming a Buddhist country today. Sinhala language unlike other Dravidian languages were a offset of Sanskrit. Some parts of Nepal was considered as a part of Ayodhya kingdom, and Panchala during Mahajanpad time, Ayodhya later called as Awadh, and then Oudh during British time. Also, if you know about Siddharta Gautama, the creator of Buddhist pant, he was born in Lumbini and once upon a time Nepal was a part of Magadh kingdom among famous ones....Also know as Kyrat region of Bharata, during a certain period of history. Nepal only got isolated after Turkish invasion. Nepal's king even offered Nepal to be annexed with India in 1950s, but Nehru refused for some reason, maybe he wanted a buffer between India and Tibet. Only country that is different from whole of India is Bhutan...But if you really know the India of 1st century, then it is not as different as you think.....You can check the dresses during Mauryan period of Bihar(Magadh region), Gupta period like for some instance...they had some similarities... You can check the national anthem of Nepal and Sri Lanka, you will understand most of it....Bhutanese culture is based on Tibet, but Tibetian language is also a sort of mixture of Sanskrit(Prakrit actually), and Chinese. okay YALL WTH WHY DIDNT I KNOW ABOUT THIS. I binge yall all the time, just korean ones, and waleska and efra already have a reaction of my country's music, am I getting emotional? totally.
Ariba Ahmad said everything clearly. I would add that the whole region is Bangla/ Bengal. We call it Bangla locally. after the British divided the region on the basis of religion in 1947 the west part became Indian West Bengal/ Bangla province. East part became a part of Pakistan and later became Bangladesh in1971 through a bloody liberation war. England is the land where people speak English. This way Bangladesh is the land where people speak Bangla (as we call it locally instead of Bengali). Land= Desh= Country. This is how Bangla+Desh became Bangladesh. Both Bangla speaking people from Indian West Bengal and Bangladesh are from same ethnic group called Bengali/ Bangali as we call it. But for nationality people of Bangladesh are Bangladeshi and Indians from India. Coke Studio is named after Countries like CS Pakistan or CS India. but since Bangla is spoken by people from both Bangladesh and India, it is not called CS Bangladesh, instead called CS Bangla so that brilliance from both side can come together. Different countries but Bangla speaking people from both countries share shame culture and History. Thank You.
Bengali culture n the language is always romantic n the girls here r so caring n soft, boys here r the one who will sing his heart out to win the love of his beloved.
The commentary to this was hilarious. I love how it bought so many feelings, reactions and emotions in you guys. Bollywood tends to dominate in that part of the world, so it's refreshing to see stuff like this once in a while. Please react some of the late Ayub Bachu's work.

The music director you're talking about is the man 'Shayan Chowdhury Arnob' himself. He is the mastermind behind and along all of this.🤍 And please do a Part-2. Please Go deep as you can there is whole bunch of stuff for you to be surprise. Happy journey 💜
before 1947 Bangladesh, India and Pakistan was together and we share lots of cultural, religious and historical stuff. in 1947 before British leave the continent they divided the the land in two country india and pakistan (east pakistan & west pakistan), eventually in 1971 east pakistan gained independence and became Bangladesh. im not here to give any history lesson, said these stuff to make you understand why our style of music and film feels same. #important fact:- the fast conflict between east pakistan and west pakistan took place in 1952, and reason was Bangla, yes love for a #language(bangla) made people come to road, shed blood and fight to gain right to speak and use our mother tongue Bangla thats how important Bangla is to us.
Bangla is the main language that is mother tongue of Bangladesh ( apart from regional or folk language) ...and In india only some part of their language is Bangla ( like Calcutta from where like you mentioned Shreya and Arijit came from... ) Bangladesh is a country where majority is Muslim religion...and Indian Bengali's are majority of Hindu religion... We both love the Benglali culture and the language..
Bangla is a language spoken mostly in Greater Bengal. Greater Bengal consists of West Bengal, which is a state of India and Bangladesh, which is a sovereign country

Bangladesh and West Bengal have been together till 1971 and after that it got separated by British on the basis of Religion. Bengal as a whole have been culturally very significant be it singing, dancing and poetry. It is the land where Guru Rabindranath Tagore was born and who also received the first Noble Prize for his work on Gitanjali. Gitabitan has 2233 songs which is written and composed by him and is called Rabindra sangeet . Rabindrasangeet is broadly classified into many divisions which we call as paryay. The songs are based on romanticism, humanism, structuralism, introspection, psychology, romance, yearning, nostalgia, reflection, modernismand nature, in all her myriad forms and colours, and of the relationship between the human being and Nature and how Nature affects the behavior and the expressions of human beings. His songs are based on hindustani and carnatic ragas. Some songs are also based on jor ragas like Iman-kalyan, Shyam-kalyan, Ahir-bhairav, etc and they are blended beautifully. Rabindranath Tagore also wrote many dance dramas Bhanusingher Podaboli, Mayar Khela, Balmiki Protibha, Chitrangada, Chandalika, etc. Many of his songs were written in Brajbuli language which has some sanskrit influence also. He has created six taals which are known as 'Rabindra srishta taal' (taal created by Rabindranath Tagore). We all know that taals can be expressed by taalis (clap) and khaalis (without clap). But these taals have one significance in all and that is, they dont have any khaali. The book forming a collection of all 2,233 songs written by Rabindranath is called Gitabitan ("Garden of songs")and forms an important part of extant historical materials pertaining to Bengali musical expression. The six major divisions or paryays of this book are Puja (worship), Prem (love), Prakriti (seasons), Swadesh (patriotism), Aanushthanik (occasion-specific), Bichitro (miscellaneous) and Nritya-natya(dance dramas and lyrical plays). Hope you make a video on Guru Rabindranath Tagore and his songs. It is a universe of music .
Shanai (in Bangla)/Shehnai (in Hindi/Urdu) you have already looked up :)
Very well explained. I think you covered everything!

Okay to clarify it a little bit for you guys-
Bangladesh - is the country
Bengal- is a state in India
Bangla/Bengali- is the language spoken in BOTH these places
Bangali- are the people that speak bangla
I hope this helps a little😅
West Bengal is a state in India. Bengal is a region that includes both West Bengal & Bangladesh (East Bengal) & Bengali is an ethnicity also
@@royaltrblx
There is nothing called west Bengal. Its called Gour Bengal.

@@sohailahamed7957 the British divided Bengal into two in 1905 under governor Lord Curzon
West Bengal was Hindu dominated while East Bengal was Muslim dominated. So i would count thee 1905 Bengal partition as the inception of modern Bangladesh as a seperate entity .

Not the one spoken in Bangladesh tho
No offence, don't be so judgemental.
not one of , it is the sweetest
So glad to see you discover Bangla music. Bangla is the language spoken both in Bangladesh and the Bengal region in India... Hope you will also check out some music from the Bengal region in India. Actually, Bengalis both in Bangladesh and India love the same music.
So not all Bengalis are not Bangladeshis and not all Bangladeshis are Bengalis (u must remember this)
As u know just like rest of India, Bengal was too partitioned in two on the basis of religion. The muslim majority part became independent country while the Hindu majority region became a federal state in India called West Bengal.
Hope this helps clear out ur confusion ❤️
Joy bangla
Hope this helps

Hello,
16:18
the Time signature is 7/8. This rhythm is called Tewra. It has 7 beats in it like this:- 123 | 45 |67 .
In this composition, sometime, they break it like this--
7 beats * 4 circles = 28 beats.
123456 123456 123456 123456 1234.
Now count this at double speed. and you'll understand how they made it sound triplet.

That instrument is called Esraj. It has a fretboard like sitar with 15 sympathetic strings, but is is played with a bow.
The North Indian flute (Transverse Flute) is called Bansuri.

Just so you know many of the traditional songs are Baul based, a genre of music from Bengal.

No need to sweat over their differences - it's pretty simple really.* 🤣
Hope this helps!
I'm British Bangladeshi and watching u from UK 🇬🇧
The instrument Efra keeps telling bansuri is actually Eashraj
And also Coke Studio Bangla mentions the music director and producer "Arnob" everytime
Yes Waleska was right Arnob the music director of Coke Studio Bangla is always involved in the performance as a vocalist or instrument player
Being a 90s kid,we Bangladeshis were more into rock genre songs,it's still the most popular genre we listen to.Warfaze,Aurthohin,Artcell are among the most popular bands till now.

the second song you guys reacted (Nisha lagilo re) is a very popular Bengali Folk song by Hason Raja (1854-1922) who was a very prominent Bengali Folk poet and songwriter. Bangladesh is a very small country, but the diversity in the music is just magnificent... from folk to hard rock metal, you will find everything in this small land!

Bangladesh is the Root of Modern indian and Pakistani Music
Prarthone from coke studio Bangla should’ve been in the podcast too.
And Shaan’s Bengali/Hindi song Thomkiya with Akriti Kakkar is something you must check out.
Wherever u read the word Indian subcontinent, it includes India, Pakistan and Bangladesh. That was previously known as Indian subcontinent and the three countries have more or less same musical instruments.
Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan watching from aside :)
@@deepanshu00730 well I don't think they were a part of Indian subcontinent.
The Script which is used in Tibet as well as in Bhutan is derived from script of Sanskrit...you can check if you want...if you try hard then maybe you will be able to read them.....
@@deepanshu00730 Ok, thank you

I am from Bangladesh🇧🇩🇧🇩🇧🇩
thankyou Bangla song reaction for watch,,, Love💝u
Yes it would mean the world....do a 2nd part
I'm so happy and proud that you guys liked our music this much😊
The commentary to this was hilarious. I love how it bought so many feelings, reactions and emotions in you guys.

nisha lagilo re The song with the Man in white and the lady in the red sari. Is from a Bangla movie. The lady is the red isn't only a singer but also actress.
The music director you're talking about is the man 'Shayan Chowdhury Arnob' himself.
He is the mastermind behind and along all of this.🤍
And please do a Part-2.
#important fact:- the fast conflict between east pakistan and west pakistan took place in 1952, and reason was Bangla, yes love for a #language(bangla) made people come to road, shed blood and fight to gain right to speak and use our mother tongue Bangla
thats how important Bangla is to us.
Bangla is the main language that is mother tongue of Bangladesh ( apart from regional or folk language) ...and In india only some part of their language is Bangla ( like Calcutta from where like you mentioned Shreya and Arijit came from... )
Bangladesh is a country where majority is Muslim religion...and Indian Bengali's are majority of Hindu religion...
We both love the Benglali culture and the language..
Bangla is a language spoken mostly in Greater Bengal. Greater Bengal consists of West Bengal, which is a state of India and Bangladesh, which is a sovereign country
or u can say bangla is the language of bharat
@@dkdc1882 Bangla is a language of Bengalis . Language doesn’t belong to land, it belongs to people. Stop making idiotic claims

অনেক অনেক ধন্যবাদ!! I wish you guys had reacted to "Prarthona" that song is an experience!! Thanks a lot tho ❤️🇧🇩
