Hello Tony, Thank you for your channel, which is really interesting on the history of Lotus. I live in France, and since November 2013 I've had a Lotus Elise S1 111s and I loved seeing the story of the Elise's construction in your videos.
@@lotuscarguru3656 firstly - forgot to say - really enjoyed the videos. watched them all before going and buying my first Elise. now on my 2nd. thank you! anyway - the question - ... seat runners. on the S1 they're all knackered from brinnelling in the seat runner, so there is a lot of play in the seat now. I'm trying to work out how to fix this... I was wondering if you might know who supplied the runners so I can transplant the seat fixing parts (and the extension/foot bit at the front) to new runners and finally not be rattled around the car!
@@michaelc5437 Sorry for the late reply. Ah, the old seat rattling problem! Sorry but I don't know the supplier but I know they are not the finest piece of engineering! Basically all Elise/Exige models suffer the same problem regardless of year. Lotus did release a tensioner spring (A142V0001K) that kind of worked but not a 100% sure whether they fit Series one seat runners. Lotus should have carried out a complete re-design to fix this but any changes to seats, runners or related hardware meant they would need to re-submit the car for crash testing to certify the safety. Not an inexpensive process, so it was never done. Sorry I cant give you any more than that.
Great to see you back, Tony! Love watching all of your videos sharing decades of invaluable Lotus wisdom. Question - did any of the S1s have factory installed air conditioning? I'm considering an S1 sometime in the next two years or so possibly, but lack of air con where I live with brutal summers (South Carolina, USA) is something I will definitely have to factor. My 2005 Federal Elise's air conditioning actually holds up very well IMO.
Thanks for the info. Pricing is v useful. It would be interesting to know where some of the Elise parts originated from ie. does the heater matrix come from a London taxi? Do the wing mirrors come from a Metro etc? Cheers for now.

Hi there, Thanks for your kind comments! Some series ones were fitted with A/C but not many. To be honest it wasn't a very effective system.
Thank you very much for sharing your unique insights with the community. I'm looking forward for the next part.
