  • We built this ground mount off-grid solar system over 3 years ago and it has been running 24/7-365 no problems until now!

i have experienced this also. the weak design of the mechanical circuit breaker can be avoided with the newer design disconnects and if you want a fuse then use an actual fuse to protect the wiring. My buddy lost his charge controller due to this same problem and the controller was damaged by no battery input and still having solar input.

Yes that’s what happen here but I think our cc has a protection mode so it was saved lol

Same thing happen to me with a breaker. I went to a 40 amp ANL fuse. Going for 2 years on it no issues now.

If you want to be safer with high voltages, consider wearing insulated gloves

Or is the fuse a circuit breaker

I'd say stop using those china name breakers, I had the same problem with automotive breakers all the same, you need to get a breaker that is sold in the US that is UL listed and been tested, or you can keep having a bunch of failures with those things they don't sell in this country lol, you call em fuses I reckon because they get thrown out alot but they are suppose to be breakers LOL. Seriously you may burn your place down with those breakers, big clive on YT showed some of these taken apart and how they were cloning an actual brand or something like that and ripping people off with garbage. BUSSman makes a automotive breaker model 187, I think eaton bought em and it's under their name now, they are pretty nice I use them on my bus to RV conversion to shut off the batteries, including the starter for the engine, they do as advertised.
I've only seen 3-4 of your videos, who is this "we" you keep mentioning?
Sorry I'm a jerk but I do like watching, thank you.

Thanks for your comment we (lol) will look into it.
When I say "we" I am referring to the whole team that makes this channel happen I'm just the voice and tech guy lol

Fuse, breaker, fuse, breaker, fuse, breaker...
    Dude, seriously?
Terminology matters in the electronics/electrical field.

It sure does. What's up with your old glory being inverted? If you really want to appeal unto heaven you might want to try burning that useless masonic idol they tricked us all into worshiping and it's unnamed wicked "god". Everything the murikan flag stands for is against God just like this perverse nation we live in.

He's confused it's a circuit breaker not a fuse. Language is important for electricians

Probably your fuse will burn your house down. They constantly heat in order to shut off. Better place high amperage switch instead.

The fuse is just a small portion of the system, we also have a 400A T class, and another 40A ANL

@@DIYKAI Small but dangerous part, placed in this place. If you need means to separate battery from the rest of the system... high amperage switch. This is my opinion.

@vinylapplying please check out other video out of the walkthrough we have a HUGE manual disconnect switch between the battery and inverter as well this system is over engineered and has been up and running over 3 years 24/7 fuses are not lifetime parts and are expected to degrade over time.
We do appreciate your comment and concerns!

@@DIYKAI I see it. This burned fuse is only for charging. But these fuses heat constantly even with 7-10 amps, for me it is hazard. I also have similar system which is DIY with cheap DC-to DC step-down converters . It is 12 volt system and solar panels are connected in parallel to have bether efficiency in low light condition, they reach 65 amps from time to time . I use 200A diode for battery and clamps for terminals. No charge controller, only inverter for AC. I tried 63A fuses but even in triple configuration they stay hot.
