A $600k data engineer - that must have been one gnarly data pipeline. Thanks for sharing- few companies make decisions based on data in Asia. It mostly comes down to office politics or what the big boss thinks
I think this can be analogous to data science as well. The better we’re able to handle this data and the more decisions our insights enable, the better we’ll be compensated
I think a lot of that salary had to do with the company you worked at and not necessarily the fact that the data was used on machine learning. If you work at a company that no one's ever heard of and produce machine learning data sets... Guess what? They ain't going to pay you a lot.
Sir can you please make a precise roadmap of how to become a date engineer with all the required skills tech stacks and specify the resources that would be really helpful for us.. ❤❤
Your insights into identifying value-add opportunities are very insightful. It raises an important question, though: When searching for new roles or opportunities, how can one ascertain this information in advance? Understanding the specifics of the role, especially regarding the kind of impactful data work involved, is crucial yet seems challenging before applying. It would be immensely helpful if you could create a video detailing a step-by-step guide for job hunters. Such guidance could empower applicants to make informed decisions and navigate interviews more effectively, ultimately leading them to roles where they can truly make a difference. This kind of content could provide invaluable clarity for those of us in the midst of job hunting.
I benefit from this talk . And I would like to ask that What’s your opinions on a data engineer invests time in learning machine learning models ? I am à current student in Canada with working experience as a data engineer before. I ask this question as my summer break is coming and I haven’t found an internship for me to improve my data engineering skills . All I got is an admission from a research institution where I can have 2 month intensive machine learning course during summer. As a result , I am in a dilemma that if I should spend two month full time learning machine learning models or spend time studying data engineering in my summer time.

Droppin' golden nuggets :) thanks!
Great point I didn’t thought of. Thank you for the great short content
What does the term producing data mean in this context? I feel like it might fit my current job description, I like the way you explain it.
Number of decisions times $ impact / decision = ... But yeah, ML decisions like pricing gonna max out that equation as well.

Blog.dataengineer.io has the roadmap for free. I wrote it a week ago or so.
This is gold.❤
If only we had the option to choose 😅😅

God i love this blatant constant misuse of the term “engineer”. Especially in the IT field
