Once again great video! This is where I decided to build my first turbo fuel power plant and I’m so glad I did. My facility churns out about 50,000MW! Why didn’t I do turbo fuel earlier! Thanks again for all your fantastic content. You are currently my favorite you tuber!
Did some calculations on an alternate recipe. If you were to produce heavy oil residue and then turn that into turbo fuel, you would end up with nearly double the turbo fuel fuel and power output (1280 turbo fuel -> 42.7 GW). However, doing that would also involve building 82.6 refineries and 284.4 fuel generators, which is absolutely wild.I mean, if you like massive construction projects, that would be the way to go.
The limiting factor is the sulfur for compacted coal, which is a fairly scarce resource. With Heavy Oil Residue and Diluted Fuel, it is better to just burn the ridiculous amounts of ordinary fuel you have. But turbofuel is good for a first oil power plant because you are guaranteed the recipes and you can package some turbofuel for your car.
Awesome video, the only comment I would make is that if you wanted to save on resources, you can actually decrease the potency of the output conveyors on the fuel refineries based on which direction they're going. E.g., if they're flowing left to right, then the left-most only needs a mk1 between its splitter and the next (with the output being 30p/m) as does the second, and then after that you need 2x mk2 belts, then 2x mk 3 belts, etc. It's very picky, and may not be worth the effort to be fair at this stage in the game
Hello Darren..love the series. I posted a comment way back on the coal power plant upgrade video. I am stuck and was wondering if you could help...here is what I wrote...i have been following along step by step with you. I got a little lost when you first set up the big coal plant, but thankfully and mercifully you released your save which i promptly downloaded and started using from that point on. Now I am at the 1st expansion of the power plant and i followed you with the powering up of the number of water extractors, I upgraded the 4 miners to Mk2 and over clocked to 200% giving 240 coal per minute. I upgraded all the belts to Mk3 up to the first set of splitter where they change to Mk2 belts and then to Mk1 belts leading to the lifts taking the coal to generator. All of the generators are under clocked to 88.888% Some of the generators all the way to the left of where the belts come in are starved for coal. The first three all work at 100% and have 100 coal in them..the others actually get to 0 coal and go offline until 1 coal comes into it..I have tried force feeding 100 coal into the generators that are missing it and for a while I get a straight line and 4800mw production, but soon after the coal dissipates again from certain generators. For example the far back generator are all working at 100%. Any idea what could be wrong? Appreciate any help you can provide. Thanks
Great series. Honestly the best, most concise, easy to follow how-to for ANY game I've ever played. One question: I don't seem to have the option to build mark two pipes with no indicator. What have I done wrong? Pressing R doesn't give me the option either. I can build mark 1's with no indicator no problem. Just no option comes up for Mark 2 no indicator....Odd.
The no indicator variant is unlocked in the Awesome Shop, just like the Mk.1 pipe no indicator. Things get added to the shop as you unlock milestones so it would t have been visible in the shop until you unlocked the base pipe And thank you!
@@WhatDarrenPlays Thank you. I figured it out a day before your reply. Can't believe I completely forgot about the awesome shop. Been awhile since I cashed in any tickets I guess.
Thanks so much for this series, I was really overwhelmed when I first started playing this, I'm completely new to the genre, so building along to start with really helped to ground me in how things worked and what was possible, now I'm much more confident creating my own builds, although still find certain new builds you do like this one incredibly helpful as I navigate how to progress the game, I love seeing all of them and the creativity of course, it's a great series overall :)
Love the vids, that being said when you flipped the belts for the residual plastics, the plastic refineries were the ones going the wrong way...at least on the BP I downloaded...
Just doing my largest oil power plant myself, decided against turbo due to logistics for compacted coal but using alt recipes can get 20000mw from just one pure node at 600 crude oil pm. Will definitely put your method to use though as do want to stockpile some turbo fuel anyway. Enjoying the videos and hopefully get to see nuclear 🤞
@@WhatDarrenPlays Yep seems to be the most efficient way for normal fuel, just took a while to unlock the recipes. Hopefully keep me with enough power until I can unlock the last few milestones
Hi Darren, i am a big fan and player of Satisfactory. Your series are super fun to watch just keep doing what you do. For the life of me, how do you quick select a blueprint (pipette). I think I've seen you do this a couple of times throughout this let's play. Thanks for the entrainment!
Question. I understand the current unlock limitations: But for future proofing context. Why chose this method of Oil >- Fuel >- Comp Coal/Sulfur in assemblers >- Turbo Fuel. Isnt Oil>- HOR>- Fuel>- Pcoke>- Sulfur>- Blenders = Turbo Fuel more efficient? (space/production/power draw wise)
Yeah but Blenders is something I haven't unlocked yet, I did mention at the beginning more advanced players will use Blenders as it is more efficient. It yields the most power out of the Oil possible.
dear darren thasnk you so much for your helpfull content . i will try to build this in somewhat the same fashion . the info you add in your videos is very easy to understand and really helpfull i cannot wait to catch your next upload greetings from the netherlands
Vegetation does grow back. But it takes something live 200-400 in game hours. Eventually, you will have to come back to destroy the same trees. I've got trees growing through the first roads already
I believe vegetation doesn't grow back, its to do with the game updating and also how it handles saving that vegetation can come back by accident. It's not timer based, it happens all at once in certain world tiles. That's my understanding anyways. The official wiki by CoffeeStain says that vegetation will never grow back.
Hey Darren, amazing build! I'm curious, when you put down the turbofuel refineries, why don't two rows share the same junctions & splitters (where the four rows do not face the same directions, but there are two groups, each with two rows facing each other). Just aesthetic preference?
Its because I wanted to keep things in groups of 4 - 4 groups of generators is the main constraint because they are 2.5 foundations wide, so a line of 17 generators is 42.5 foundations long. Going any longer distance than that is of course possible but itd be quite tedious to run down a line that long. So i have a line of 17, facing another 17 getting fed from one pipe. Thats one group of generators. To keep it simple for viewers, that one group gets fed by one group of refineries. That way each has their own pipe and it can make troubleshooting a bit easier and the layout more simple to follow. Hope this makes sense (itll be clearer in the next video) and thank you!
I can't run my assemblers 100% efficiently in 1.0 with this setup on a Mk.4 belt. :( Also, if you're reading this post 1.0, you can only do 22 fuel gens per array of turbofuel refineries because they consume 7.5 turbofuel now compared to pre 1.0 that consumes 4.5 turbofuel
Looks like ya only bridged the input sides between the compacted coal blueprints. The outputs don't appear bridged, at least on one of the rows of 6. May want to check the power lines as well. :) Great looking build though, and relatively easy to understand.
@@WhatDarrenPlays 1:03:15 and 1:03:42 for the first row. 1:09:08 and 1:09:28 for the second. Can't see the third and fourth rows, but habit is, well... habitual, I guess. :)
I have set up huge turbo fuel stations to power 450 fuel generators. And I have set up huge dilluted fuel stations to power 400 fuel generators. I just dont think its worth it to produce turbo fuel for anything other than the jet pack and the turbo ammo.
The main reason is I find it quite complex. I wanted this to be a relatively simple way to build an Oil facility if you haven't before. In the future, I'll probably tap all of the Spire Coast to do the Blender Diluted Fuel recipe. This seems to be literally the most efficient thing to do, but you need Blenders and more recipes. I don't even have the alt for Crude Oil to Heavy Oil yet.
@@WhatDarrenPlays I do agree with the complexity opinion about this! I am just finished with my power plant (570oil -> 19.000MW) doing this packaging horror and man that was some work. At least the debugging at the start was minimal. :) Love the way you approach this game Darren, keep up the great work!
I've been trying to follow this assembler setup in 1.0 and I'm scratching my head as to why the last 2 in the array of 6 assemblers are struggling to hit 100% efficiency with the Mk.4 belt. Idk how you made it work but 22.22*24=533.28. I only have Mk.4 belt at this point and I feel like my sulfur and coal delivery ain't enough to make my assemblers go 100% at all times. The intake is just not enough for 24 assemblers to deliver the compacted coal to my turbo fuel refineries.
Foundations of all sizes align their center to the world grid X, Y and Z axis. So using a 2meter foundation, or 4, aligned to the world grid is fine. If you try align a 1m foundation, it’ll be 0.5m offset on the Z axis.
I started playing satisfactory recently and i cant see the reason to not centralize every resource by dragging long pipelines and conveyor belts to my main location. Can someone explain why building connected factories in different locations is any good?
I guess the way you’re describing is more along the lines of fixed levels vs being able to upgrade the belts in an area easily to accommodate new tiers with more speed
I recently started playing the game, I already get scared by seeing your videos, seeing the scale of this game and then today you say "for very advanced players they'll do crazy......., but we're not there yet" 😂 I'm scared beyond belief.
Ha, you just have to break things down to smaller components! We've almost unlocked every feature the game has to offer in this playthrough, just trains and drones left to go. Then its just a matter of building bigger scale I guess!

@@WhatDarrenPlaysthanks for the reply, i don’t have as much stuff in my world as u, but i have many long conveyer belts so i’ll try cut down on those. thanks anyway
What do you think about RUclips satisfactory last video? There's a lot of thing that wouldn't came to 1.0 and some endgame recipe changes, and biomass burner stollen from mod community
I have very low expectations of 1.0, and I personally didn't expect any of the things they said wasn't coming. I have never beaten the game, so don't mind them changing end game recipes. I don't mind them changing recipes at all to be honest, as long as people agree the changes feel like an improvement. And unless they literally lifted the model from the mod community, I wouldn't call it stolen. I think taking ideas from the mod community and putting them in game is great. Taking assets or code from the modding community is not the same, and I wouldn't want that unless they were paid for it.

So here’s why: I havent unlocked blenders. I havent finished tier 7, or the space elevator phase. Even if I had, I have no aluminium production or radio control units to even build blenders. @@WhatDarrenPlays Well, as I'm been watching your video and I can say I've learned a lot of things from you already: - Mk 3 poles, whoops I forgot to unlock them... Probably would have helped on my 6, 58 (I prophylactically always take off the tip, so I never do the max possible, which I think is 59) Gen turbo fuel builds; - I didn't make a little blueprint for my refineries... So I hand built 60 with the feeds... Dumb; - you can blow up trees instead of going down to the ground... ...and at least 3 other things so far I've already forgotten, I have to take notes... Ffs... "this is the _first_ oil facility ive built" I read that in the title of the video got overwhelmed by the amount of info I was watching and immediately forgot your intention in the video. I didn't mean to nitpick, I was just curious and if I remembered the title of your video, I could have answered my own question. However, doing that would also involve building 82.6 refineries and 284.4 fuel generators, which is absolutely wild.I mean, if you like massive construction projects, that would be the way to go.
Yeah I considered it, but for a “first” oil factory I considered this big enough but not insane/super overwhelming
I wish we had terraforming (even if it was limited in some fashion) I want to have nice landscaped lawns around my factories and basements etc.
WIll you be redoing your blueprints in 1.0? 5x5 now sounds even better!
Things get added to the shop as you unlock milestones so it would t have been visible in the shop until you unlocked the base pipe
And thank you!
@@WhatDarrenPlays Thank you. I figured it out a day before your reply. Can't believe I completely forgot about the awesome shop. Been awhile since I cashed in any tickets I guess.
31:04 cant you just press ctrl or alt or something to replace the merger inplace?
Thanks so much for this series, I was really overwhelmed when I first started playing this, I'm completely new to the genre, so building along to start with really helped to ground me in how things worked and what was possible, now I'm much more confident creating my own builds, although still find certain new builds you do like this one incredibly helpful as I navigate how to progress the game, I love seeing all of them and the creativity of course, it's a great series overall :)
it looks good, but not turning oil into heavy oil residue to then convert it to fuel... you esentially would double your fuel amount...
41:48 Loch Ness Monster of Satisfactory!?!
43:20 Is that a Bean Egg? Is that where Beans come from?
Same place as I built my first turbofuelplant!
Oh nice! Are you using the diluted fuel method with Blenders?
18:42 the way he just doged the "bullets" 😂😂😂
Hi Derren I was wondering what mods you use for satisfactory and where do you get them from.
These videos are so good my friend is new to the game and this is great for us to play along to
I had all these plans planned for the weekend... guess I"ll be playing satisfactory instead :D
The only good plan is Satisfactory ! Lol cant wait to play 1.0
Excellent content as always Darren! I can only hope to catch up - still doing copper logistics 😂
You TEASE !
Cant wait for next one !
Stoked for the U8 Turbo Fuel Episode!!
Wow great job Darren! Setting up a first fuel power plant has always been the most annoying logistical part of the game for me 😅
Deffo move them domes back a bit, like centreline on the first refinery pipe output
dear darren thasnk you so much for your helpfull content . i will try to build this in somewhat the same fashion . the info you add in your videos is very easy to understand and really helpfull
i cannot wait to catch your next upload greetings from the netherlands
Glad it was helpful!
i just relized why your video sounded so nostalgic and you just play minecraft in background
@WhatDarrenPlays I dunno. I find random trees just grown back when other sections are still gone. Like they were never chopped down. It's weird. 😊
41:48 "did you see it?"
Great Video! You inspired me to rebuild mine turbo fuel factory
Do you use any mods? If so which ones. This really made me wanna get back into the game, and i think mods would help alot
good video!!, i have a cuestion, how many hours that file have?
Just hit 200
I have owned the game for years now, and I am always intimidated to play. It feels so complicated
Hm will look into this! And thanks
@@WhatDarrenPlays 1:03:15 and 1:03:42 for the first row.
1:09:08 and 1:09:28 for the second.
Can't see the third and fourth rows, but habit is, well... habitual, I guess. :)
I didn't know you could have pipes with no indicators. How do you get them? Or are they just off the main build menu
Awesome Shop, think it costs 2 tickets
@WhatDarrenPlays that makes sence now 🤣 good ol awsome shop
@WhatDarrenPlays that makes sence now 🤣 good ol awsome shop
I’m new to satisfactory and I have no clue how he gets these equations
I have set up huge turbo fuel stations to power 450 fuel generators. And I have set up huge dilluted fuel stations to power 400 fuel generators. I just dont think its worth it to produce turbo fuel for anything other than the jet pack and the turbo ammo.
Thats awesome! Something I'm looking forward to attempting in my 1.0 playthrough
why didnt you u make 270 Oil into 15000MW with Oil->Heavy Oil->packedfuel->fuel->turbo fuel. Thats so damn good kk minus the production costs
I am looking forward for the next episode
Same !
44:47 Bro you forgot to connect the output pipe and belt of the oil refinery that you disconnected for the research.
Fixed it!
Whats not good about using a 1M foundation?
Thank you.
You're welcome!
cant wait to see the power plant
Same !
minecraft music is fire
I'm getting ~20,000 MW from 600 OIL with diluted fuel and heavy oil residue recipes
I need this episode so much. I hate power...
hey darren, My game crashes every time it saves. i know it is because i have a lot of stuff in my wolrd, but i have a good pc(i9 13th gen, 4070 Super, 32Gb RAM). Are there any mods or fixes u use? thanks
Unfortunately I don't know. If it's crashing when saving, you may have hit the games object limit.
@@WhatDarrenPlaysthanks for the reply, i don’t have as much stuff in my world as u, but i have many long conveyer belts so i’ll try cut down on those. thanks anyway
The blender based recipe can go up to 50,000 Mw
I dont think its ideal for the first oil plant, several tiers before unlocking blenders :P
@@WhatDarrenPlays I agree but I use this very same spot and those two sulfur nodes to make a massive turbo fuel power plant.
@@WhatDarrenPlays would you start from the beginning (again) when 1.0 comeout?
I mean we as ficsit employees of course wondering what hapen to Sam ore, the glowing ball and superman stone. And it feels wrong when you play story mode when tier 7-8 already unlock
how did you get the trucks on a timer?
After you have completed a route and saved it, you can go to the truck stops and interact with the pause node that is placed there. By interacting with it, you can set a time to wait in seconds.
Im so confused, wheres the floor plan?
What do you have against blenders and diluted fuel? It only took me 2hrs of retries to get the alternative recipe... (I'm now waiting for one last alt recipe for my closed loop nuclear power... Only about an hr and a half of restarting... Instant plutonium cell... cause I do like instant Quaker Oats...)
Curious to see if I missed* anything so I'm gonna watch your videos and thanks for sharing Blueprints without the ransoming of your viewers. I've learned a lot from inspecting your stuff, after the confusion wore off each time... The first step to understanding is being confused... Lucky, I learned that early in my STEM life... Now as an older man, I use games like these to keep my mental faculties challenged... But I've noticed I'm still losing my marbles, even as I consistently pick them up if I notice a few fall out my ears.
__________________________________________________
* Holy crap, I learned alot of stuff I didn't know I didn't know (but I know Idk a lot), from MK3 power poles I forgot about, to being able to place explosives on the trees without going down to the ground to chainsaw them to death... Thumbs up on the video!
So here’s why:
I havent unlocked blenders.
I havent finished tier 7, or the space elevator phase.
Even if I had, I have no aluminium production or radio control units to even build blenders.
As some people are playing along, this is the *first* oil facility ive built, so I’m going with a relatively simple recipe for this first oil based power plant. Gotta walk before you can run!
@@WhatDarrenPlays Well, as I'm been watching your video and I can say I've learned a lot of things from you already:
- Mk 3 poles, whoops I forgot to unlock them... Probably would have helped on my 6, 58 (I prophylactically always take off the tip, so I never do the max possible, which I think is 59) Gen turbo fuel builds;
- I didn't make a little blueprint for my refineries... So I hand built 60 with the feeds... Dumb;
- you can blow up trees instead of going down to the ground...
...and at least 3 other things so far I've already forgotten, I have to take notes... Ffs...
"this is the _first_ oil facility ive built" I read that in the title of the video got overwhelmed by the amount of info I was watching and immediately forgot your intention in the video. I didn't mean to nitpick, I was just curious and if I remembered the title of your video, I could have answered my own question.
With the aluminum production, I would never do it without wet concrete and the alt recipe for aluminum ingots ever again... That was a pain in the butt and I never could balance the water well at all, and I can add, subtract, multiple AND divide!
Thanks for the video, it's helped me and I didn't finish it all the way through yet!
is this listed as "the coke factory" in the blooprint downloads?
No, this is turbofuel factory
@@WhatDarrenPlays I am just now getting started into oil/plastic/rubber and it is a little difficult to find what im looking for in your play through. I feel like you went from not having plastics to just having it lol, maybe im blind idk
@@PercyOBJ Need help?
Turbo fuel is such a waste as opposed to dilute fuel, i need my sulfur for other things.
is this game ever going to be a full game instead of a early access game I've seen post from 4 years ago so this game should have been a full game by now
The next update is 1.0 full release. Probably in a couple months time.
@@WhatDarrenPlays Its coming on 10 september
why not diluted fuel? to make even more turbofuel
Because it requires blenders. This is a “first” oil power plant. It would take a lot more to get to Aluminium, Blenders to then make a power plant with diluted fuel.
@@WhatDarrenPlays idk if it isnt more efficient to make a standard power plant and then make an efficient one later, you can rush to aluminum really fast and you dont nearly need 20k to make it happen imo

Oh I've just noticed that when working out the output for the Turbo fuel you've calculated it using the underclocked one.
@@XxBR00KSYxXGamingglad I’m not the only one who noticed that. I was like what? That’s not right! Lol
I gotta watch this at like 0.75 to be able to follow what you are saying lol.
Please do not use valves and buffers in this sort of situation - at best they do nothing at worst they create or hide problems.
actually when used right they can be helpful - valves prevent backflow, which usually helps with getting full 600 pipes, and buffers can be used as "water towers" for a similar purpose.
