It also comes with a "battle" setting which rises the power to almost 2000 hp - for 15 minutes full load, but who would go full throttle for 15 minutes. The same "battle" setting is in the German Leopards Two with an similar increase in power. Friends of mine serving in the Bundeswehr back then reported the Leopard One going well over 100 km/h and only at 115 km/h throwing its threads on the Autobahn. Naturally this was only done if an inexperienced commanding officer made the mistake to complain about to slow driving and demanded to put the pedal to the metal......
I know someone who was the Gunner in a PZH 2000 at the operation Medusa. He actually holds the record in fast shooting with it. So the time from determine a target till the fist shot.
I got into a debate with my friend about self propelled guns vs rocket artillery I was on the side of the gun but he had a response to everything I said, range, rate of fire, destructive ability. So I was wondering what are the advantages of self propelled guns? or will they just be replaced by rockets in the future?
John Wright I guess way way lower cost/shell and maybe that the don't produce a shit ton of smoke when firing giving their position away and limiting everyones vision
shells are smaller than rockets, have no smoke trail and usually no internal propulsion, also less IR signature. Rockets are better for moving targets, especially when fiber guided
The main advantage is lower cost of shells compared with rockets.. Also storage and transporting.. You can store a lot more shells in the same area.. You can also transport more shells in your supply vehicles.. Rockets put a lot more strain on your logistics system..
@@AdstarAPAD rockets also take more time to produce in large numbers, i'd imagine. also a well designed gun can be used to direct fire at the enemy, whereas rockets, to my knowledge, tend to struggle with targets at close range as few can be angled downward.
that footageyou are showing at around 10:15 shows the croatian army, who are currently in the process of acquiring 12 live units and 3 for training and parts.
Of course i dont understand all the engineering behind the pzh2000, but wouldnt it be nice to have a gun stabilizer? It could engage on the move, whether its a tank or bunker and maybe indirect fire on the move would be a nice surprise too?
This SPG is a lot quicker then you may realize, even with the power plant being at that level. For comparing it to it's US counter parts, there is no real match there. This thing is the enemies worst nightmare if it comes to artillery. There is no SPG in the world like this, this thing can track different targets, shoot at one and directly after turn the turret to the next target or the entire SPG and shoot again. No way in hell any other SPG in the world would be doing it faster or as good.
Just a tiny bit underwhelmed by this video. You could've mentioned the Modular Naval Artillery Concept (MONARC) which mounted the PzH 2000 turret on a ship to use as a main gun. There are interesting photos about it on the interwebs! Also the producer of the Pzh 2000 already produced its successor, the Donar artillery. A very interesting piece too. Maybe you can do a video on that one? It's the newest of the new stuff.
3:08 Agree with you completely on the international market, Hungary will probably buy 24 of these SPGs along with 44 Leopard 2 tanks in the near future. Finally the 32 T-72 tanks will be upgraded to a much better armored force supplemented with SPGs as well.
There was a terrible accident in 2006 in east germany during a live firing exercise. 2 german soldiers died when the loading mechanism was not fast enough for the crew. They where to fast in placing the powder, so the powder package got stuck inside the receiver and later, during the repair, it exploded. I was in the Lausitz as a soldier only a few months later and other people talked about the accident. I must say, i‘m not convinced about these automatic loading mechanisms after that.

Naturally this was only done if an inexperienced commanding officer made the mistake to complain about to slow driving and demanded to put the pedal to the metal......
I know someone who was the Gunner in a PZH 2000 at the operation Medusa. He actually holds the record in fast shooting with it. So the time from determine a target till the fist shot.
proof ?
Croatian on 9:50 in video :) . Croatian army have 16 of them. great video! Thank you
Trebalo bi još 14.
What is the music/song for this video?at(0:00 to 0:38)Thanks!
0:22 I thought the guy got his hand stuck in the loading system :)
I got into a debate with my friend about self propelled guns vs rocket artillery I was on the side of the gun but he had a response to everything I said, range, rate of fire, destructive ability. So I was wondering what are the advantages of self propelled guns? or will they just be replaced by rockets in the future?
John Wright
I guess way way lower cost/shell and maybe that the don't produce a shit ton of smoke when firing giving their position away and limiting everyones vision
shells are smaller than rockets, have no smoke trail and usually no internal propulsion, also less IR signature.
Great video, thanks for posting!!!
My cousin was a Commander on one of these in the Greek Armed Forces!
Of course i dont understand all the engineering behind the pzh2000, but wouldnt it be nice to have a gun stabilizer? It could engage on the move, whether its a tank or bunker and maybe indirect fire on the move would be a nice surprise too?
What's up with that huge blast coming out from literally everywhere whenever they trigger the shot with a wire from like 10m away?
long story short - explosion
I'm curious with the volcano munition that's precision can hit 80km but smaller bang put can be GPS or layser guided
Oh I was hoping for this one. Thx a lot. M109 would be very much appreciated 😉
Saint Barbara at the breach block, nice touch.
damn thing from a distance almost looks like the silhouette of the legendary Panzerkampfwagen VIII "Maus" from WWII
This is my favourite self propelled artillery gun
This SPG is a lot quicker then you may realize, even with the power plant being at that level.
For comparing it to it's US counter parts, there is no real match there. This thing is the enemies worst nightmare if it comes to artillery. There is no SPG in the world like this, this thing can track different targets, shoot at one and directly after turn the turret to the next target or the entire SPG and shoot again. No way in hell any other SPG in the world would be doing it faster or as good.
10:20-10:24... Where are those soldiers from? Those patches don't seem like German, Greek or Dutch. Obviously somebody else bought PzH 2000.
Croatia who have 20 of them and trained previously to the implementation in Germany.
I get anxious every time I see the loader jab his fist full of an explosive sock into the breach of a 155mm howitzer.
Could we get a K9 Thunder overview as well please?
I love your videos they make me happy. My wife hates them BC she has no military knowledge and she says it sounds like gibberish.
Gotta love the mounted MG3
Can't wait for the Krab 155mm self-propelled howitzer on korean undercarriage review.
What a good looking beast...
Anyone know what the white crosses are on the rear at 1:11
monterlop 0 they are convoy lights :-) they shine a little tiny white light onto the cross at night to allow the vehicle in front to follow! :-)
thanks man saw them on another vehicle thought they were propellers :/ lol!
Nice video. You used a lot of footage with Lithuanian PzH 2000, but forgot to mention as the users.
To be fair, you did quite a decent job at pronouncing it for a Brit (now Canuck).
Excellent video :D
Wut?! o.O
It was indeed a butchering :D
intro and outro music?
Isn't it the chassis of the leopard 2 and not the leopard 1 as you said at around 6:10
Both. Engine is modified from Leopard 1, running gear is from Leopard 2.
Thanks was about to asking for this. :)
This Combinied with the Fennek :)
I had to watch it again. After you liked my Post :D
