I would say this definitely - can - be a good beginner bike if you respect it and take your time. The "Urban Mode" delivers a significantly less amount of power & throttle sensitivity and for this reason i used it heavily for the first 2-3 weeks to get comfortable with the bike. Once you get used to the everything and feel confident with it you can switch to sport mode and shit your pants whenever you reach 7k+ RPMS. Or set it to "Touring" and find a nice middleground. It's a great bike to use for pleasure driving, spirited driving and everyday use.
