I've used the TGTB and LLATL , and though both are good choices, I changed to the Spectrum grade 2 reading, lang arts, writing and spelling. It's been much better for our child with the wiggles who just wants the bare bones. These workbooks are straight and to the point, and with some additional literature reading, you can point out the things they are learning so as to reinforce concepts. The two aforementioned curricula are great and have worked well for my older child, now in grade 4. Both also do TGTB math and love it.
I have the language art, math, and reading. So far I’m loving them and like you I think I’m going to buy the rest of the books. My only con is I wish the math had a teachers guide.
Thank you for sharing this! We have been looking through numerous curriculum options, and we really like the format of Spectrum's books. How many pages do you aim for your children to complete per week in math, per se?
I originally planned for one entire lesson per day, but realized it was too much once we started the school year. So I'm scaling it back to 1-2 pages per day, so about 1/2 of the original scheduled lesson. That's about 2 1/2 lessons a week for us, but we are taking time on that more challenging sections when needed.
I have used the spelling and reading program, with good success. We are fortunate to have this excellent curriculum at a very afforable price.

Are all the books in the grade enough for a whole school year, or are these books more so supplements? Thanks for the information on them!

It's not a bad idea to go with state standards just in case you decide to put them back in public school.
I totally agree with you on that
How do this last all year when it be only having like 15 sessions in the whole book?
Thank you for sharing!
