    Watching this extremely informative video proved to me that my car dealer overcharges for oil change, additionally recently not long after oil change I found out that the oil level was too low and not touching the tip of the orange stick (without leaks on my garage floor) and had to take the car to the nearest shop to add oil because of distance from the dealer.
    Thank you for taking time to produce such a useful video.....may be consumers should check oil level before leaving the shop.

    Thank you. I watched ur vid. and this so-called mechanic told me some crap about my car but i watched your vids b4 so I knew what was wrong, I just didn't want to mess myself up. He wanted to charge me $289!! after I explained what he will do it went down to $15...I watched him do what I wanted and my car ran perfectly. Nothing was really wrong but he was making stuff up. They saw me in my pretty dress and priced to rob me. That was year ago. Thank you!!

    I would just add (after the fact) that when unscrewing the drain plug, put your catch bucket far enough away as to compensate for the trajectory of the oil flow . My oil had a strong stream that went beyond my bucket and had to quickly move the bucket. Thankfully I had a piece of cardboard large enough to catch the spill. I my case I should not have squared up my buck under the plug. Maybe this was bc I was up on ramps, causing higher psi? Also I have a 2016 and 18 mm didn’t fit but 3/4 was snug. Thanks.

      SFN, my wife has a 2019 HR-V, and when I changed her oil, the drain plug is a 17 mm. You may try that for next time...just a thought.

      C company, at what mileage did you end up changing your oil?

    • @WestCoastFront
      @WestCoastFront 3 года назад +1

      @@carlovanrijk4039 I'm now at 11532 miles. Went to Pueblo Colorado in March. Have had my Honda for one year now. It seems like the car needs an oil change quicker then other cars. I have had 2 oil changes already and it's at 50% already? It will say to change oil before I reach 15,000.
      My 2011 Jeep compass didn't need oil changes that fast and I put hundreds of miles in 1 week. I used to do Uber. So I will change my oil when it gets to 10% oil life.

    • @carlovanrijk4039
      @carlovanrijk4039 3 года назад

      @@WestCoastFront does it have the 1.5 liter turbo? In some cases, they’ve had some issues with fuel slipping by the piston rings and causing some oil dilution. In that case, it’s probably a good idea to change the oil every 5000 miles to keep it fresh and continue to lubricate the critical parts. You might check with Honda to see what their warranty covers.

    just a quick question, you said 0 w 20 is full synthetic.. Im just curious, doesn't the full syn oil last like 10k km? My 2018 hrv had fresh oil when I bought in jan and the oil life says 15% right now but I only maybe did 4000 km.. If it 0 w 20 is full synth shouldn't it still be good oil?> Does the engine actually know if there is a different oil in the car so when that oil life % is calculating does it actually know if there is a regular 5k oil in the car or 10k oil or hybrid 7500k oils?

    • @carlovanrijk4039
      @carlovanrijk4039 Год назад

      Metatronix, the oil life monitor meters the type of driving you do by the heat cycles, number of starts and stops, town/city driving vs. highway driving. With highway driving, the oil change interval can be extended out some, but city driving will necessitate a more frequent oil change interval.

    • @carlovanrijk4039
      @carlovanrijk4039 Год назад

      Or…it’s possible that when you had the previous oil change done, the techs may not have reset the oil life percentage. 🤷🏻‍♂️

    • @carlovanrijk4039
      @carlovanrijk4039 3 года назад

      evil morty, I have found that different trim levels have different ways of re-setting the oil life monitor. You may need to refer to the owner’s manual, or even find a reset video specific to the ‘19 LX.

    How bad is it really! if you go back and forth from synthetic & standard oil on a car oil change? What if a shop mistakenly puts in the opposite. Is it that much damaging? Or wrong oil (Same numbers only difference is synthetic or standard) is better than low oil.. idk.

    Jim, I always appreciate your thorough explanations. I would like to ask a question.
    Vehicle: 2005 Tucson V6 2.7L 185,000 miles
    When the driver side door is closed (and open up to 30 degrees in angle), the driver side windows (front and rear) do not move (No click, no nothing!) when I click on the master switch buttons. When the drive side door is open halfway to all the way, these windows open perfectly. After replacing the fuse and the master switch, the same problem persists. There was no accident. Any help would greatly appreciated.
