A lot of youtubers don't mention this or take it for granted but similar to Singapore, english is widely used here in Malaysia especially if u compare to most other asian countries
Dominic and I talked about this frequently. We live in South Korea and many people do speak some english but we still encounter some communication barriers. In Malaysia, everyone seemed to speak English and most people spoke fluently. We were in awe at how many people spoke many different languages. I especially enjoyed listening to the radio in Malaysia! It was a real treat to be in a taxi and to understand what people are saying on the radio.
There is indoor theme park at berjaya times square, 5th floor, next to lalaport . If you are a food lover, try Ramly burger, ICC pudu (authentic local food like charcoal egg tarts, Chinese yellow rice wine chicken bun, Fried Chinese rice cake with sweet potato and yam); apam balik,Tau Fu Fa & Koon Kee Wan Tan Mee (at petaling street), Claypot Chicken Rice @ 168 Coffee Shop (near ICC pudu). However, I would not recommend having dinner at Jalan Alor Street Night market, is too expensive and the food quality so so only. Hi guys, happy new year! And _selamat datang_ welcome to KL/malaysia 👍 _Terima kasih_ thank you for the glowing praises 🥰 Hope you two and children have truly enjoyed a memorable stay throughout, and would be eager to visit again - after all korea isn't that far away 😜 Btw, are you guys actually from newfoundland originally? I stayed in the US for about 4 years way back, but never got an opportunity to experience canada. From online pix/videos, newfoundland looks very pretty! I don't mean to be a _kay-poh_ (busybody) but I cannot help wondering what made you guys leave that beautiful place and move to korea instead?
Thank you for the language lesson! 🙏 my husband is from Newfoundland and I am from Nova Scotia. We both work in Korea, so we left Canada for work. We will be back every year to visit though. During the most beautiful months 😆 I don't miss the long winters on the east coast.
@@NewFoundLands excellent! I've seen photos of both newfoundland and nova scotia, and they look beautiful! but yeah, I can imagine how cold it gets up there this time of the year 🥶 Thanks again for visiting malaysia. Stay safe and have a pleasant time in korea, in canada, and anywhere else you'd be ✌️
It looks like you guys landed at KLIA2 which is the terminal for second tier and budget airlines. Hence the terminal reflects that. KLIA (1) is the main one and although not to the same level as Changi in terms of design and amenities but is equivalent in standard in terms of a first tier airport.
It was a fantastic airport! I usually fly in and out of small Canadian airports and KLIA put them to shame. I think we compared to Changi because we were there most recently.
0:45 There are two international airports : KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) and KLIA2. The main one KLIA is mostly for international flights. The second one KLIA2 is for budget airline AirAsia. It seems you are referring to KLIA2.
Go local market, open up children experience, go to Chinese market ICC building (not china town), little india, now near Chinese New Year get the vibe in the mall (local mall). Go malay market too (kampung baru)...and go and visit more locals ....😊😊😊
Hi... you are from canada eh...? I miss Kingston & Montreal. I did study there loooong time ago. 😂 Welcome to malaysia. Hope you'll enjoy your stay here.
Ah so interesting! Ontario and Quebec are beautiful provinces. We are from Eastern canada (Nova Scotia and Newfoundland). We loved Malaysia!! It is a beautiful country.
Actually, the mall is like 5km away from the cinemas. The CBU Cineplex Campus is a stand alone. There is no cinema in the Mayflower Mall and the Cineplex campus is literally just a theatre (that you aren't watching movies in). #VisitCapeBreton LaLaPort is almost as good as the Mayflower mall.
@@NewFoundLands you need to take note whether it's klia, or klia 2. Klia 2 is the smaller airport for budget airlines, but actually it's located just next to the klia. Several years ago it was situated slightly further away in the same locality and that terminal was called the lcct (low cost carriers terminal) which was built primarily to cater for our homegrown budget airline air asia, but pretty soon that terminal became too small to cater for the big jump in popularity of budget airlines especially air asia ofc. In terms of practical shops within the terminal, I personally prefer klia 2, with its food court(s?) and grocery supermarket (jaya grocer)
Welcome to Malaysia. Alcohol beverages and cigarette are expensive because the sin tax is high. The government doesn't promote alcohol drinking and smoking in Malaysia due to health issues and to curb drunk driving.
Interesting! We will be coming back to Malaysia and exploring different places for sure. As Canadians, we are very familiar with the high tax on alcohol! We have been living in Korea, so we had some sticker shock.
@@NewFoundLands canada has federal tax plus provincial tax. I lived in manitoba once upon a time during my student days. Canada is beautiful but too cold for me.
@NewFoundLands it is more Healthier to live in warm weather. My nose bleeds in Canada, dry and cold. Also perhaps my kidneys function better in warm weather. Manitoba is prairie area. Very cold. Same as alberta, saskechewan. Coastal areas are OK like bc and maritimes.
You guys had to try our special Malaysian burger and it's called "Ramly burger". Usually open between 0500 pm- 0100 am depending on the stall. when you found any of the Ramly burger stall my recommendation what To order is Daging special (beef wrapped with egg) you also can order as double beef, there's also chicken variations if you didn't like beef. Note: Malaysian like their foods spicy, so if you can't handle spicy foods make sure to tell the person selling it "no chilli sauce"

Thanks for the tip! Have you ever tried tonys noodles? He is pretty great too. It's been so nice to be able to try out real Chinese food. Back in canada it is not real Chinese food.
The airport you landed at is not the main airport. Thats KLIA2, a "low cost carrier" airport. The main airport is KLIA1, next door. BTW, enjoy your stay here. U guyr will leave Malaysia at least 5 kilograms heavier, uve been warned, lol.

We took our time this vacation and are really enjoying getting to know KL. We will be back in Malaysia quite likely next spring and we want to try out Borneo then. The more we look into Malaysia it seems the more there is to see and do. -Dom
KL looks great but if you happen to visit Manila, stay in BGC, the MOST modern little city in the world. That's how many bloggers described it because frankly, it's like a big MOVIE SET, quipped one of the blogger. It has one kilometre of wide boulevard without cars but full of world class food restaurants and others. 😊
Welcome to Malaysia. Basically by demographic roughly Malaysians 65% local natives, 25% Chinese, 10% indians.. try to explore all related places to understand better about Malaysia. Malaysians not asimilated to one culture but everyone keep practicing their cultures

The winter monsoon starts in october and ends in february. So 5 months of crazy rainfall
We have been so lucky! Today was the only day where it rained most of the day. We've had really great weather.
@@NewFoundLands it rains at 4pm usually
Welcome to Malaysia 🇲🇾 there’s plenty for u to explore ❤
Thank you!
DEC - FEB is the coolest time
It was great. We are not hot weather people haha
Bukit Bintang also call Star Hill.Mostly KL old folks know the name but some are not..😊
Oh that's interesting! Thank you 😊
Nice content..
Thank you 😊
Hi guys, happy new year!
And _selamat datang_ welcome to KL/malaysia 👍
_Terima kasih_ thank you for the glowing praises 🥰
Hope you two and children have truly enjoyed a memorable stay throughout, and would be eager to visit again - after all korea isn't that far away 😜
Btw, are you guys actually from newfoundland originally?
I've seen photos of both newfoundland and nova scotia, and they look beautiful! but yeah, I can imagine how cold it gets up there this time of the year 🥶
Thanks again for visiting malaysia. Stay safe and have a pleasant time in korea, in canada, and anywhere else you'd be ✌️
The weather in Malaysia is unpredictable.
You arrived in Terminal 2 not the main terminal. Food is more expensive in the airport.
It always is! We realized. I how we see the main airport eventually!
I think you may have entered the low-cost carrier airport which is KLIA Terminal 2
I believe it was!
0:45 There are two international airports : KLIA (Kuala Lumpur International Airport) and KLIA2. The main one KLIA is mostly for international flights. The second one KLIA2 is for budget airline AirAsia. It seems you are referring to KLIA2.
😂Bienvenue au Malaysie mes ami....Oh Kanada my home and native land...
Go local market, open up children experience, go to Chinese market ICC building (not china town), little india, now near Chinese New Year get the vibe in the mall (local mall). Go malay market too (kampung baru)...and go and visit more locals ....😊😊😊
Thank you for the recommendations! The locals were so kind! We met some really amazing people
Malaysia truly asia❤❤😉
We are loving it!
Hi... you are from canada eh...?
I miss Kingston & Montreal. I did study there loooong time ago. 😂
Welcome to malaysia. Hope you'll enjoy your stay here.
Ah so interesting! Ontario and Quebec are beautiful provinces. We are from Eastern canada (Nova Scotia and Newfoundland). We loved Malaysia!! It is a beautiful country.
That Mall looks nice and all, but have you been to the Mayflower Mall? It's got lecture halls in the cinemas!
Maybe @xxeebbk needs to attend a lecture there, cause they've been schooled! 😂
@@thomlundrigan370 it is an ongoing joke 😅
Actually the airport in your vid is for the budget airlines. We have also KLIA which is the full fledge airline airport.
Dominic did say that he thought we were at the budget airport. Very impressive for a budget airport, I hope we can see the KLIA one day!
The price is fair to human being like us.. For me high price is unhuman at all😊😊😊
Go to Times Square. the kids will love it
They really did!!
Looks like a good start to a Malaysia trip.
10:14 Those ARE local Indian food.
We've ordered from this restaurant several times. It's so good!!
i like to recommend Sunway Lagoon.
your kids should these water park.
We were considering this! We've been going to the pool daily with the kids. It looks super fun!
@@NewFoundLands if you plan to visit it, you need the one whole daytime to explore all the area.
I hope you also Go kuching sarawak you will enjoy it
Looks lovely. Perhaps we can get there on a future trip
@@NewFoundLands welcome to malaysia✌✌
Thank you for visiting Malaysia, the richest country in Southeast Asia...You need to know that Malaysia is the richest country in Southeast Asia
We loved Malaysia! It is a beautiful country
Welcome to Malaysia. Alcohol beverages and cigarette are expensive because the sin tax is high. The government doesn't promote alcohol drinking and smoking in Malaysia due to health issues and to curb drunk driving.
It makes sense! It is a good thing.
Cameron.getting.bukit tinggi cold ❄️
We like a bit of cold weather!
Several islands in malaysia are tax free example pangkor, langkawi, tioman, forest city, labuan.
Haha Manitoba in winter is so opposite of KL haha
@NewFoundLands it is more Healthier to live in warm weather. My nose bleeds in Canada, dry and cold. Also perhaps my kidneys function better in warm weather. Manitoba is prairie area. Very cold. Same as alberta, saskechewan. Coastal areas are OK like bc and maritimes.
welkammm
🥰
You guys had to try our special Malaysian burger and it's called "Ramly burger". Usually open between 0500 pm- 0100 am depending on the stall. when you found any of the Ramly burger stall my recommendation what To order is Daging special (beef wrapped with egg) you also can order as double beef, there's also chicken variations if you didn't like beef.
Note: Malaysian like their foods spicy, so if you can't handle spicy foods make sure to tell the person selling it "no chilli sauce"
I will keep an eye out for a stall!

Farm in the city to see animals and Selangor pewter the kids can go and try knocking stuff
Nice vlog ! You should try a local Chinese foods restaurant opposite of lalaport by the name Teochew.😋😋😋
Thanks for the tip! Have you ever tried tonys noodles? He is pretty great too.
It's been so nice to be able to try out real Chinese food. Back in canada it is not real Chinese food.
Alcoholic drinks including wines, beers, liquor plus cigarettes have high taxes here in malaysia
In Canada as well! We were spoiled in Korea. I think we should be able to survive happily without those things though 😅
@@NewFoundLands 👍 time to sober up (all the time) 😬
The airport you landed at is not the main airport. Thats KLIA2, a "low cost carrier" airport. The main airport is KLIA1, next door. BTW, enjoy your stay here. U guyr will leave Malaysia at least 5 kilograms heavier, uve been warned, lol.
You are right! We have eaten so much!
Are Singapore and Kuala Lumpur better than New York and Chicago ?
I've only been to Singapore and KL! I haven't been to those other cities, but I will bet here is better haha! -Dom
Chicago and NYC are huge cities compared to singapore or kl. Smaller cities have their advantages.
Try Ramly Burger. Street food is safe to eat and so much cheaper. When you order food just double confirm if the spicy is kid friendly level.
Thank you! We will look for a stall. We have felt healthy our whole trip even after street food. The food has been so good!
New sub 👍
Welcome!!
Take them to genting highland...😂
We plan to!
💖
Happy new year!!
Hello, welcome to Malaysia , it's great because u arrived when our law enforcers just cleaned up those illegal migrant that makes our country looks bad and dirty . especially bukit bintang and Chinatown nearby area,I'm not gonna hide or lie about my country, but always beware of your surrounding , especially kids , nothing much but that's it . ❤ . Enjoy your day 💖
Thank you
Next time may be u need search a ramly burger. Its diffrent taste from your burger
Next time! I have heard of it. I saw a cart but it wasn't open. It is on the bucket list!
🇲🇾🤗✌
🥰
❤❤❤
😍
just go find roti canai multi variant and you will happy forever😂
If you do your homework well, you'll have the best bang for your buck in Malaysia. Don't just hang around in KL. Go visit places like Genting Highlands, Melaka, Ipoh, Cameron Highlands, Penang and if you like beautiful beaches, go checkout Langkawi and Redang island.😂😂😂
We are going to check out Genting Highlands this trip but we will definitely be back to Malaysia!
We intentionally mostly stayed in KL this time around. We did really condensed holidays earlier in 2023 and it was not restful.
We took our time this vacation and are really enjoying getting to know KL.
We will be back in Malaysia quite likely next spring and we want to try out Borneo then. The more we look into Malaysia it seems the more there is to see and do. -Dom
@@NewFoundLandsDefinitely plenty more to do in Malaysia. Borneo doesn’t disappoint! Canadian living in KL
I really want to get to the phillipines in 2024 - Dom
Welcome to Kuala Lumpur The Metropolitan Of Diversity.
Thank you!
Be careful when youre walking your kids at behind
Welcome to Malaysia.
Basically by demographic roughly Malaysians 65% local natives, 25% Chinese, 10% indians.. try to explore all related places to understand better about Malaysia. Malaysians not asimilated to one culture but everyone keep practicing their cultures
I loved this about Malaysia. It was very diverse. Thank you!
