Finally a good analysis of the weapons in this game that’s not Metal blade good, rest of weapons bad. There’s more nuance, even if the metal blade is the strongest weapon. I think that I’m more inclined to use different weapons, because using different weapons is fun. And hey at least the Metal Blade actually makes people who don’t use boss weapons use boss weapons, so that’s something. Sure maybe all of the weapons aren’t useful, but in every Mega man game I only use 4-5 weapons on a normal basis, so it’s no big deal. So far this is my favorite of the classic series although I have only finished the first 5 games.
First off: quite a nice video here Secondly: Here is where I stand in terms of what I think for mega man/Rock man 2 In most parts, it does improve a lot compared to the first entry while also bring in new aspects that will be a staple in the mega man franchise (official and fanmade.) So while I will say that it is in fact the savior in the mega man franchise, it doesn't hold up well in some areas like the bobeam boss, some of the level design, the bosses being around okay to mid at best, etc. But that doesn't mean it's all bad however as there are in fact some good too like the ost, the graphics improved compared to the first, some of the level design at least being good in some way, etc. So while I will say that it is the savior in this case (being better than 1) it's just that the other entrys are better later on
Looks like some of my feedback on the last video got applied, and pretty well, I may add. As usual, a nice comprehensive look at an old classic that, once more, taught me some things (like the fact juggling Flash Man with Metal Blade exists, that's funny). The improved pacing with the pro/con mixing and counter combined with your avatar appearing more with a new emote makes it feel more alive. Good job! As for my take on this game, I think the bulk of its problems either occur or become more pronounced in the endgame for pretty much the reasons you brought up (minus them being easy on the whole). Makes it a bit of a hard sell for me to revisit it as a result, even knowing what you need to do, but I still appreciate what this game has done for the series and where it does otherwise shine.
20:20 Not in Mega Man game but Capcom pulled off something relatively similar in Resident Evil 4 2023. Spoiler Alert: During the last chapter of the castle, the merchant asks Leon to throw an egg on Ramon's portrait in his throne room as an optional challenge. In the throne room there is a Golden Egg locked inside a drawer. And most player uses it to throw at the portrait. However, if the player is patient enough, there's a chicken there that lays eggs afrer some time. So the player can pick it up and use it instead of wasting eggs. And saving the Golden Egg. But now, why is the Golden egg so important? Because later in That Chapter there's a bossfight against Ramon. And it is very difficult boss. However, if you throw the Golden Egg at it, it takes away more than half of it's health. Not quite similar but very genius. Also as a sidenote: It is possible to make it out of Boobeam Trap with 2 Crash Bombs.
Nope, 24 pros and 13 cons. The metal blade is definitely a positive. It's the best weapon in the series for those who need it, and it isn't required to beat the game for those who want a challenge.
MM2 ending just hits different. While I do think MM2 is a bit overrated,I can respect it for improving upon many things MM1 couldn't get right. Honestly I'm glad this game took off the way it did,I probably wouldn't be a Mega Man fan lol.
This game was good, mecha dragon is hard, and wiley 6 should've had a weapon pickup to refill the bubble lead (you literally saw me force myself to get a game over from running out)
So, another one was fixed Mega Man Maker too: Metal Blade no longer most overpowered weapon that couldn't be nerfed from Mega/Rock Man 2. But in Mega Man Maker - a weapon was nerfed for couple reasons, for one - his damage boost are decreased like little bit, then well.. It dosent fells like trying to be OP like original game, and seriously downgraded little bit, still, it's best weapon use.
this game should've ended with Dr. Wily being the Alien at the end that would've made more sense than an evil human maniac bent of world domination. Capcom you had an idea and you killed it off.... a super robot fighting all odds of evils in this world and at the end fighting an Alien for the first time ever, that would've made for an epic finale. it was pure genius until, wily pops up in the background revealing he was just controlling a robot cyber cube...... the idea of wily being an would've freaked many fans out knowing that no human on earth would think about destroying humanity using robots and that idea would've been much answering in a sense that you the Super Fighting Robot defeated an Alien that threaten the world. and that it would been a perfect ending. clear example: your a Super Fighting Robot you fought 8 and 6 Robot Masters created by Dr Wily, an Evil Mad Scientist you fought The Yellow Devil, The Organic Ball Drone, and your Evil Self and finally you fight Dr Wily, who at the end, reveals he's an Alien. that would've scared the f out of me if that story was well told and used. but no... that idea was killed off, but it would've been an amazing idea to use over the years of making Mega Man series.

Also in 24:30 to answer that question: If you want to do a new series, try Castlevania or Ninja Gaiden! It can expand ur horizons!
