it saves you some money... 300-350 yards of line is all you need when live baiting. So with the 100 yards of 20lb mono backing you can spool 200-250 yards of braid on top and doesn't sting as much if you get a birds nest or bust a fish off and loose a bunch of line. Re spooling 200yards of braid won't cost that much. The reason we don't with the vertical jigging setups is sometimes we jig in 400 feet for Tuna in the spring and if you hook up neat the bottom to a big fish your going to need that extra line. Our jigging setups have close to 400 yards on them. You can most definitely spool your entire reel with braid if you don't mind spending the extra cash.
I use the same setups here in Pensacola Florida
Awesome video as usual! Your guys are one of the beat down here in SFLA...I have been loving this series! See you guys at the summer slam series.
Thanks for the nice words! Yes we'll see you at the EKFT Summer Slam!
I got a good deal on a 6'6 M trevalla and thought about putting my okuma komodo 364p on it for light jigging and trolling small lures.
Can’t what to go with u guys again I had such a great time. Will you do the same vid just for inshore fishing
Thanks David... Yes we'll be doing an inshore one soon.
I love this series. You should do a compass vs outback offshore comparison. I feel like that would get a ton of views
declan casey we appreciate it and that’s a great idea! Stay tuned
Is there a reason you use a mono backing on the livebait setup but not the vertical jigging? What’s the reason behind the backing?

Deep Blue Kayak Fishing thank you for the very informative response, it makes sense.
