- Horst Weber was born 1925, his dad was badly damaged by years of hard, forced labour under the French, during WW1. The nazi's promised a way out of this. He was very fit and even joined a NAPOLA to become the new regime's future. I found him sill in trouble between the career the 3rd Reich gave him and the way they stole his youth for a fantasy.
Horst Weber still has the bearing and straight back of a soldier. A very interesting look into history from the other side. He’s spot on about politicians. Always examine everything they say and do with critical thinking. It’s a pity he couldn’t have been there, as he said with some of his British prisoner “comrades.”

I'd rather have English subtitles. I like hearing him speak as I know a little German but can't listen to both and audio levels are matched thus competing.

I'm surprised he survived the war.
After Arnhem he was sent to the collapsing east front, and he even survived a year of Soviet pow camp. The Soviets made it extra harsh for SS folk. He escaped and made to the westzone. Thanks to his sister, she had married a German communist and he managed some documents for Horst. Quite a history indeed.

@@semsemeini7905 No question, they got what they deserved. The suffering on the Russian side was incredible. This explains why so many Germans feared the Soviets, they knew what beasts they themselves had been in the east. Make no mistake which side I am on. Fxcking nazis arrested my father and sent him to a forced labour camp end of 1944.
