This episode is why I love your YT channel. Tidbits of information that are so useful: knit socks and Musselburgh hat slightly smaller due to natural stretching of the fabric. As a newbie knitter, I need all the help I can get. Thanks.
I am so close to finishing my 11th pair of socks for the year. My goal was 12, so I don't know that I'll make that, but considering I had only ever knit ONE pair of socks before, I'm thrilled. Using your DK Vanilla pattern, magic loop. I've never made DK socks, never done magic loop anything. I'm using a mini set, and your videos encouraged me to not worry about making them all matchy. So I just enjoyed the process on the first sock, weighed the yarn, and figured out how to make the second one with what I had left. It would never have occurred to me that I could do that. So this is my thank you note to you. Also, I am a mix of comfort yarning and "learn something new" projects. I don't want a huge challenge really, but I really do need to have at least one WIP that is pushing me to learn a little something new.
Happy Friday!! Love that green from knitpicks and that yarn able colorway is so fun! I have so many projects but right now my major focus is the mine Cowell that I am trying to get off the needles for mom‘s birthday next month. I also have a Musselburgh hat on the needles as well as socks that I have for my Church knitting. Have a wonderful weekend.
Love your videos :) - I have a goal for 2025 to knit a pair of socks every month and today signed up for my first yarn club - it has a gods and goddess theme.
I just finished my first Musselburgh and am loving it! I used non-super wash yarn for extra warmth. We live near the beach and it’s very cool and humid in the winter. Your lovely hats have inspired me!
Working on a Musselburgh hat. I just finished my Christmas socks! My husband is also a Dr Who fan and am knitting him a blanket with an advent from FolkYarn Studio named “All of Time and Space”! Each day comes with a quote from one f the Doctors!
Your blanket looks so cozy and pretty, perfect for lap knitting this time of year like you said..... I really enjoy playing with scraps and minis so I may have to add that pattern to my list for a long term project 😊
OK. I don't feel so bad. I haven't finished my November yarnable socks yet. Thanks for the "permission" to be behind one month; hahahaha. Straight garter stitch allows for experimenting with different types of yarn which is so great. Knitting is calming for me as well.
I just discovered your channel after I decided to research knitting socks, I'm a crocheter but kind of new to knitting and I want to knit something I will actually wear. These videos give me a lot of inspiration 😄
Kayla thank you for the number.I asked the stitch count earlier for the blanket because I had to pause the video to attend the senior breakfast at the Y before the blanket segment appeared. Hopefully I can start sometime during the holiday season. Who knows, maybe even today while watching Hawaii Five O reruns.
Would you please consider making a video for us when you make your next muscelburg hat. Id love to see how you start it with your cast on method. Love the color!
Nope, I won’t be doing any videos for that hat. I just cast on the stitches you start with (it says in the pattern) and do it magic loop. Close up any gaps when I weave in the starting tail of yarn. That’s all there is to it.
Lovely episode as always. I enjoyed a cup of coffee and finished up the last repeat on your Slip Away cowl pattern that I'm making for myself. Such an addictive pattern! I love the scarves you're making. They've picked great colors. God bless❤
Love those tiny scissors. I gave them as gifts last Christmas with some other items and everyone loved then! I has a great time watching you this morning ❤
I’m definitely team vanilla projects 😂 and I’m completely on board the knit all the Christmas themed yarns until the end of December, I have like 3 more pairs I would like to get made by the end of December beginning of January but we shall see 🤣
Definitely with you on starting off with a snug Musselburgh hat, my favourite hand dyed one has grown, thinking about a little tumble dry. That colour is so pretty
I truly love knitting… All knitting. But there’s something so calming about lots of time with straight stockinet. I call it my mindless knitting, not a very complementary project name! Enjoy the video as always, it’s always so fun to open up the computer computer and find a new video usually filled with socks!
I’m focusing on holiday knitting this month too! And while I do like learning new techniques vanilla knitting is my go to for self care. Always have vanilla socks one the needles and garter stitch blankets
I agree that knitting is calming but also like to be able to extend my knowledge and ability. So I always have several projects on the needles in varying degrees of difficulty. 🇬🇧
I’m accumulating a lot of row one minis so I’ve decided to start a dk weights Cozy memory blanket knitting from both ends just like you do. Glad I got some signature size 5 needles before they closed shop. I looked on your ravelry project page but you didn’t have the number of stitches you cast on for dk weight. How many stitches did you cast on? I do 46 for my fingering weight blanket.
❤❤good morning ,kay🎉 Nice and early ,,,, Love all ur makes,,,the scarf really looks great,, I like to do mostly vanilla projects,,too,,,, Nice and calm,,, Have a good weekend,, Elaine 🏠💕
Hi Kayla, lovely episode the Musselburgh hat, my mitred square blanket is going well, my sister and I made an advent with our minis and will be putting mine in the blanket. Congratulations to the winners. Have a great weekend ❤❤❤❤
I am with you. I love the look of a beautiful lace or cabled sweater but I just want simple knitting to calm my mind and keep me busy when I have down time.
A pleasure as always, Kayla! 🫶🏾I also wanted to say thank you for your Instagram highlights. It gives us our crazy sock lady fix for the month of December. 💗We’re not missing anything by your not doing vlog mas 😉Enjoy your family! Oh, PS. Has Wyatt been wearing his sweater this season yet?💛
Not sure if you mean a border on the blanket or the start and end of rows on a square. I have details for how I start and end my rows on the ravelry project page.
@CrazySockLady sorry, I meant a border. Not all my edges came together as neatly as I would have liked. Just feels like it needs something to make it look finished.
Hi Kay. The winners listed was in such small print I couldn't see. I only have my phone and couldn't make it larger. Can you please let me know if I won? Thanks. Love your channel. I am an avid sock knitter myself. Thanks.
I am sure it's me but when you (or anyone on RUclips ) says it will be in the links below. I can't ever find them! How do I access them? There was so much today I want more information on. 😟
Would you have a recommendation for straight needles that may be similar to the Signature ones? By the time I knew they were going out of business the sized I'd want were all gone! I can't seem to find shorter straight needles.

I completely agree with you. The calming of my mind during vanilla sock knitting can’t be beat. So soothing!

That musselburgh looks so good on you! Totally a keeper
The new Yarnable gives me Buzz Lightyear vibes. And yes, your stash your rules!
Love seeing your advent minis in the blanket- it’s working up so pretty!
The scarf looks great! I love the color Wyatt picked out for his scarf!
Love those tiny scissors. I gave them as gifts last Christmas with some other items and everyone loved then! I has a great time watching you this morning ❤
“Placed a knit picks order like you do….” I feel this! Lol
😂🤣 no one has to twist my arm!
Omg love the Christmas with my gnomes socks! I plan to do some Christmas knitting in July so i can have them ready for Dec 2025
Your Musselborough looks really nice on you Kayla! Love the Yarnable wool this time. Take care x
I’m definitely team vanilla projects 😂 and I’m completely on board the knit all the Christmas themed yarns until the end of December, I have like 3 more pairs I would like to get made by the end of December beginning of January but we shall see 🤣
🤣we may need January too for Christmas yarns! 😂
@ I’m thinking yes! 🤣🤣🤣
Fun episode-as usual. Thank you so much. Congratulations to the winners
I also enjoy knitting for the relaxing calm properties. I knit socks, hats, a few scarves and dishcloths
Loved this yarn. Merry Christmas 🎄
Definitely with you on starting off with a snug Musselburgh hat, my favourite hand dyed one has grown, thinking about a little tumble dry. That colour is so pretty

Hi Kayla, lovely episode the Musselburgh hat, my mitred square blanket is going well, my sister and I made an advent with our minis and will be putting mine in the blanket. Congratulations to the winners. Have a great weekend ❤❤❤❤
I have many scarves on my list for 2025. I hope I can get them all done.
I've made that Dr. Who scarf, also for my husband, it's just garter stitch, but it just keeps going.
I just finished my Smells Like Christmas socks! Love them!
Loving the blanket!
Thank you for another great episode! Currently, I’m working on my second Musselburg hat and another of Ysolda Teague’s pattern, the Forth Hat.
I used your link for Yarnable, got in quickly and received the December box. Thank you for the link.
♥️♥️♥️ you’re so welcome!!
I am with you. I love the look of a beautiful lace or cabled sweater but I just want simple knitting to calm my mind and keep me busy when I have down time.

Yep he has!
You should keep that blue Musselburgh hat. It looks wonderful on you, particularly with that sweater you haveon today ❤
How do you finish the edges of the coziest memories blanket? I don't crochet and have not decided on the best method.
I love watching your videos. Can you tell me where to purchase those scissors? Thank you
I have them linked on my Amazon storefront.
I would suggest some fingerless mittens for Wyatt to go with the scarf if there is enough left 😊
Hi Kay. The winners listed was in such small print I couldn't see. I only have my phone and couldn't make it larger. Can you please let me know if I won? Thanks. Love your channel. I am an avid sock knitter myself. Thanks.
Your name was not one of the winners. You an always screenshot and then zoom in if you can’t see it on your phone.
I am sure it's me but when you (or anyone on RUclips ) says it will be in the links below. I can't ever find them! How do I access them? There was so much today I want more information on. 😟

That hat looks great on you!
Enjoy your knitting time ❤
Your blanket inspires me ….. i started one years ago …. I was annoyed at the stripe on the joining row ….any tips on how to avoid that ?
😊
I’m sorry, I’m not sure what you mean by stripe? You mean on the wrong side of the blanket? Like the seam? I just let that do its thing.
You should keep that musselburgh hat for yourself. It looks great on you and the color brings out your eyes.
Thank you ♥️
Keep the hat for yourself! The color in the hat makes your eyes pop!!!!❤❤❤❤❤❤
Thank you! ☺️♥️
hi i always enjoy watching you
Good morning 😊
Love the color W chose for his scarf! Has he been wearing his sweater?! 💚
Yep!
@ That’s wonderful and I KNOW it makes your heart smile!
You should keep that hat. It brings out the color of your eyes.
Love your video, do you think you'll reach 100 knit socks in a year just asking thank you
Mor'n, 5 ft wide and as tall as you from head to toe. Talk about snuggling.
Please keep the hat, the colour suits you to a T.
