Talk about closing the circle! The Beatles performed at Shea to 55,000 fans in 1965 and were the first major stadium concert in the world. Half the audience weren't born when they broke up but everybody knows the songs! In fact, the band had rehearsed " I Saw her Standing There " in case Paul made the show. But " Let It Be " was totally unrehearsed and they nailed it! Love the roar of recognition when Paul plays the opening chords! A rapturous experience! ( Much better sound system than in 1965! )

I lived 3 miles from Shea Stadium (Flushing) and me and 3 of my friends snuck into that concert in 1965. I was 15 and it was my first concert. The cops helped us get in back then and I can tell you that we couldn’t hear a thing and neither could the Beatles. The entire stadium was shaking and every single girl was screaming with many crying also. Never saw anything like that in my life. The Beatles stopped doing live show shortly after coz the sound systems were not advanced like they are today and the fans were so loud they couldn’t hear themselves sing. They ran the music through Shea’s PA system but it was not loud enough. I think they did one other live concert at the Hollywood Bowl and called it quits on touring.

@@dolphe.chiarino6142 Dolph, I hate to say this but some of your info isn’t accurate. After the concert at Shea, the Beatles did 15 more concerts in the U.S. in 1965. During August, 1966, they did 18 concerts in the U.S. before they finally quit touring. I have been a Beatles fan since 2/9/64 and my first concert was the Beatles in Atlanta on 8/18/65. I could not hear them at that concert for all the screaming and crying girls. I was only 10 years old, but I thought it was pretty stupid. The thing about the band being able to just pick this up and play it... any professional rock musician worth their salt grew up listening and learning some Beatle songs, especially guys who would be in a band with Billy Joel. So they have no doubt played along with this song and played it to themselves a 100 times in their lives. That's how it is when your songs are so enormous, so important and so fundamental to the world of music. Thank you, Paul McCartney, for all you have given us.

    • @denisvalente6844

any pro musician has the ear to pick the key and basic chord progression in the first verse and play along. The song is well known enough for most to know the structure of the song which is just verse chorus, no bridge etc. I certainly don't have that talent but I play with 3 or 4 guys who'd have no problem picking up bass, guitar, drums or keys and playing on the fly with pretty much any song. Add visual cues the band members give each other and they'll know when to stop, when the solo kicks in and so on. Impressive but by no means unheard of at all. I mean of COURSE they know the song, but even if they didn't musicians of the calibre that stand on stand with Billy Joel can certainly pick up a song in real time
