I saw you having trouble lifting the wagon tongue, but when it comes to the important things you came through - lifted that soda like a pro to keep you running. lol When your Dad lifted it so easy, it was only because you had loosen it up for him!!!
Throw a ratchet strap over your 3 point hitch to help pick up those heavy wagon tongues. It works for heavy PTO shafts too. Your right they are heavy. Good video.
Best video ever! Showing your work ethic, and skills you have learned on the farm from your Dad. You keep this channel up like this you will be a Rock Star.
Jess, there is something somewhere that no one can lift or move. Leverage is your friend. I bet you'll figure out how to help yourself without getting hurt. You are a very smart worker, seeing the whole picture of what you are doing. That is a process that many do not possess. You Go Girl!!
Don’t go and regularly try to lift and pull on things (like wagon and trailers and tongues) I used to be notorious for continuously doing these kinds of things and now I can’t even push the law more with agonizing pain. I was 6 foot 2 inches and 160 pounds - rather thin, and this is what the doctors said helped to cause my condition. Other than that, it is fantastic that you are involved in the workings of the farm. Hats off to you, girl!!
@@larrycurts710 This, i made the mistake of thinking i could take on anything, that i had the strength to lift or move anything and now im suffering for it... if you cant lift something, DONT there really is no shame in it.. dont hurt yourself
@@Simon-ho6ly it’s too late for that by about 50 years. I’m 65, with disintegrating discs, bulged discs, and growths on discs. Now it’s a combination of antidepressants, synthetic morphine, and a multitude of other prescriptions to keep the pain down.
@Acer Acres you’re right. Right down to using a jack to lift something that you shouldn’t lift by hand. Today’s standards demand smart lifting and carrying with maximum weights that you can carry. My misfortune was working at a factory in a day when those rules were nonexistent or definitely not practiced. I twisted my back unloading a new lawnmower in it’s cardboard shipping box, and that put me on my back in bed for 3 weeks. This, when I was 18. Was never right since.
I gotta admire any girl willing to climb all over farm equipment to lube stuff and air up tires. You help your dad out way more than he has to come help you.. Its a balance thing. And you more than pull your own weight!
I drove a 4040 for cotton farming (I think that’s what it was) back in the late 70s. I even entered into a tractor pull with it at our local fair. I loved that tractor. I called it “Faster Horses.” I actually won a belt and a buckle with its name engraved on it for one of the pulls. Ah, the memories.😊
You are an amazing help to your family. I'm so impressed at the way you learn how to do just about everything. When you're not working you are cleaning up or helping to get the tractors ready for the next time they will be used. You fill in for mom when needed. Any parent would love to have you for a daughter.
Hiya Jess, great video, thank you. Yes asking for help is a pain but not as bad as needing it! I'm 64, I worked hard my whole life as an electrician doing normal work then followed my dream into touring with bands, then film & TV power & lighting. Then in 2001, I became disabled & I have not worked since so yes I feel your pain & yes it's real. Do what you can when you can & take small victories as & when you can! Stay safe...Steve...
Hi Jess! Get your self a boat trailer jack like the ones they use to move boats around,They have a wheel and they crank the hitch up and down, They fold up out of the way when your done.
1. These videos tagging along with you are way better! 2. You can get fairly light weight crank handled, single leg, high lift jacks that are as easy to carry around as a small crow bar. Would easily take the weight of the hitches then you can slide the extensions much easier. It was only stuck and your dad made it look easy because of the plain it was on putting all the weight of the hitch on the sliding extension bar. I reckon you got this! Ask any heavy vehicle mechanic. Technique always trumps brut force!
Jess, you are amazing 👏❤ just talking to my wife about our granddaughters been so picky about getting their hands dirty just with mud, I don't picture them getting greasy hand. You are a great example and inspiration to a lot of younger girls! Keep it Up you are doing sooo good. Great parents right !! Thanks
Jess. Thank You for taking us along with you today. Jess you will get stronger with time you are still growing too. You are doing great from what I see you have a ton of stamina and you are a good worker. Thank You for the video Please Take Care of your self Plus Be Very Care Full around all Farm Equipment.
I did most if not all the greasing, lubricating & tire pressure checks on all our equipment growing up as well. It seems most farm kids also do it. I'm thinking is it because we are "wirey". We are smaller and more flexible and get into those difficult areas.
The draw bar could do with a spring on it to hold it up like the 4 wheel truck trailers/pup , keep up the good work got to get grease every we're it's the law 😂😂😂😂👍
Hey Jess, rule at our place is if girls are supposed to hitch up the guys have leave the hitches on a jack stand. If they don't we don't end of sentence.
Very good video again! Heavy lifting are not heavy if they are done with right way. But you are very good on agriculture already! You have become a good mechanic on regular maintenance👍👌 You are special! FARMER
When I was taught manual handling we were taught to been our legs it's amazing how thing are much easier that way!!! So easy in fact I forgot an that bag was a struggle!!!!
Your doing great Jess!!! I like the 20, 30, 40, 50, 55 series tractors more then the new tractors. I bet you love that tractor because it has power shift. Great Video!!!
Good to see you back at it Jess! Please wear hearing protection when operating all small engines like the 28 pump, lawn mower etc. Your 55ish year old self will thank you. You can use the lift arms on the three point hitch to assist you with heavy tongues/ptos. The Big Swede, Eric of Larsons Farms, swears by the locking grease gun tips. Says they work on the frozen zerks as well. Lumax? It is known grease gunology that they go empty at the most inconvenient time. Say hi to your Dad. Miss his Ag wisdom.
I love you jess you are such a brave girl you dont care to get your. Hands dirty. As long as you get the job done and not dont complain about what ever you got to do in the farm.
Don’t worry about the lifting. I’m 61 with a son at 25 who still relies on me to do the lifting. However I would recommend you remember there is always a workaround. PS try working in gloves (it is important you have the right gloves for the job you are doing). It’s taken me 60 years and a COVID-19 epidemic, now for the first time in my life I have clean hands. I won’t lie it did take some getting use to, however I won’t ever go back to working without gloves.
Hello Jessica. Good vlog. Love the humour you Pepper your day with. Look into other ways to deal with heavy objects. I wrecked my back before I learned. You are most definitely smarter than me. All the best.
Congrats to you Jess! It's nice to see a pretty girl climb right in and help your father. There a lot of boys out there that need a lot of coaxing to get them to help. Nice!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have seen automatic hitch guides that are fairly inexpensive to hitch up a trailer tung as you back into it. Then you unhook it with the pull of a rope. At one time it was featured in the magazine Farm Show. Maybe call the publisher's office for more info.
Hey, try putting a block of wood or a 🪣under the hitch, that way you have some muscle left to pull it out? Maybe?? I hope you marry a 🚜 Farmer!!! You will make your spouse so happy with what you're family has taught you! According to your Pops you're his no.2 farmer behind Sandi! He's got to say that because it's his wife! Shhh LOL 😆 Be extremely proud of yourself! Your a very valuable person!!! God bless, stay safe!
Look at the technique your father use, he lift it up and use he’s knees too push his underarms forward. Sometimes technique beats raw power- you could do it 💪
So were you upset with the cold snap we just got? Did it affect you guys in the feilds? Did it have a negative affect on the work you did? Or are you just happy that you were able to get so much done so early in the year?
Yes I really hate it when you have to grease the seeder and you are underneath in between the rows right in the middle and you have to shinny your way back out and get a grease tube or your battery goes dead Or you can't get the one to move so you can grease the 1 zirk underneath the adjuster handle

2:30 I,m glad that quickhitches has been standard on tractors here in sweden since the sixties. Those old forkhitches are a pain in the ass!

To get any grease off use cooking oil and a rag and it will come right off. And it leaves your hands feeling soft.

Dawn dish liquid works good to bring grease off your skin.
We always have Dawn dish soap in our shop. It does a great job at getting the grease & oil off.
Vegimite on toast helps build guns hahaha 😄 enjoyed the video. ✅
Jess, having trouble lifting the wagon tongue, next time try using a car/tire jack...
The hitch add a little oil on it , it will slide better for YOU .

I love leverage! Start asking your dad to show you how to use a jack leverage is what men use when they can't lift something!
18 ? I thought you were 25,,so valuable to have watched your dad for super training ,,I did too 70 yrs ago....yah

grease is cheaper than metal! good practice shown by jess all round! try greasing the slide on the trailer hitch!!
Only problem is u have to keep greasing the tongue then, old grease and road grime makes things worse
@@mesh1248 the biggest problem is that it probably only gets moved 2 or 3 times a year

Believe me....You are "pretty" strong.......😇
I like working on the farm
Do you have a merch store yet?
Yeah!!!
You can eat spinach like Karl-Alfred so you can lift anything haha ..... although I do not like spinach so I can not be so strong.
What are you spraying with?
Not a lot of girls will get their hands and arms dirty greasing farm equipment. What an asset to the farm
Have you tried using a jack to help you lift it?
Didnt need to pull the hitch back i dont think lol just needed to pick up and pull right then left onto the hitch
Are you spraying on the field?
That first tire looked like it was cracked on the left side
And the pole is a little heavy . Lol
WhoooooHooooo NEW Video
At least the grease will prevent your hands from getting more dirty!
