      I think the audience was really lazy that year. No one got a standing ovation. Maybe it had something to do with the writers strike; everything was austere and toned down.
      And ever since this ceremony, everyone seems to get a standing ovation: Octavia Spencer, Mo'nique, Jennifer Lawrence, Sandra Bullock..

    • @Danny-is5if
      @Danny-is5if 10 лет назад +45

      He doesn't need a standing ovation, everyone who has seen his movies will all agree that hes the best actor of all time, bar none. I can't even describe it, when I saw what he actually looked like after watching Gangs of New York I was confused and thought there was another Daniel Day Lewis, hes just that good. Nominees for an Oscar would be lucky if he doesn't make a movie in that year.

    Man...I remember watching this live that night and rooting for Johnny Depp, because I was (and still am) an avid fan and just KNEW he was going to win for Sweeney Todd. I knew he would. But this man, whom I honestly didn't know much about until that night, swept in and got it for There Will Be Blood. I was so pissed. But then something about that baptism scene they showed stuck with me and I had to watch the film...and I could not stop talking like Daniel Plainview for like a year after. My momma was sicka me screaming "I'VE ABANDONED MY CHILD!!!" all the time 🤣🤣 Oh my goodness, I *immediately* withdrew all hate and fell in love with his phenomenal acting!! Love Johnny, but Daniel Day-Lewis did his thing in There Will Be Blood and I am heartbroken that he has retired 💕
