From the album Kid A: • Radiohead - Kid A (Album)
    Red wine and sleeping pills
Help me get back to your arms
    Cheap sex and sad films
Help me get back where I belong
    I think you're crazy, maybe
    I think you're crazy, maybe
    Stop sending letters
    Letters always get burned
    It's not like the movies
They fed us on little white lies
    I think you're crazy, maybe
    I think you're crazy, maybe
I will see you in the next life

This is one of my least played Radiohead songs. Not because I don't like it but because it's one of the most powerful pieces of music I have ever heard and I want to try preserve that feeling it gives me for as long as possible.

Wow, that is this song summed up. Even kind of makes sense since he’s using red wine and sleeping pills to try and numb the pain at first and he’s all sad and shit, but then the harps kick in when he makes the decision to go through with the thing that makes him pain free but lose contact with everyone. Maybe the letters that have to get burned are the ones of his family trying to reach him. And maybe wanting to see them in the next life is him talking to the people he loves that’s he has to leave behind. Wow, is this canon?

Connor Johnston It's already been 5 years, but the memories resonate like it was yesterday. She was a lot like Ian's girl; whimsical and intuitive, more spiritual than most. I was convinced we were meant to be together, but she had reminded me that "friends can be soulmates." I've kept that statement in mind when moments of doubt creep in the recesses of conscious thought, realizing we'll meet again; hopefully sooner than later.

    • @canadawesome1996
      @canadawesome1996 9 лет назад +20

Well, you think that in the film, 7 years go by and Ian is still traumatized by the events in the elevator, I think it's completely fine to still remember her vividly. I feel the people who affect us the most, that change our lives are those who challenge our point of view, who breach our comfort zones and make us explore new things or have us think about how we see the world. I feel the people that make us happy come in more an abundance than those who make us appreciate our happiness. Don't let the memories of her go. Sounds like she was great!

The last day was magical from the moment I first saw her till the last time I saw her alive. We were happy and in love and excited because it was her birthday and I had just picked up Moon Shaped Pool. We were going to celebrate together that weekend. I still miss you Claudia.

Despite being released eight years apart, 'Creep' and 'Motion Picture Soundtrack' were written on the same day. The latter song existed for many years as an acoustic bootleg before it finally surfaced as the pedal organ-led closing track on 'Kid A'.

+Kenneth Leverett My interpretation would be: he knew her before birth... Like, I think, an angel incarnates here on Earth, she meets this friend of hers from back somewhere on another plane - another of her kin incarnate on Earth - but the incarnation into human form changed her - she is given a flawed body or a flawed mind somehow, and he doesn't recognize her - she's very imperfect, a human, basically, with all the flaws, maybe she's physically ugly or something, she repulses him - or seems stupid in a way, say, she stutters or has some kind of mental ilness ..., or "crazy", like he sings, might mean she's fragile, she can't cope with the shit in life, or whatever, she just doesn't fit his ideal somehow and so he rejects her. Or something like that:)

The song didn't really click for me until I truly knew what grieving felt like. I've had distant family members die before and I remember them fondly, but this was something different. My dog was there for every high and low point since I was 8 years old, and at my lowest point in life, she passed away. This song really does feel like the final moments in your life before you take your last breath, and it really fucked me up once I made that connection. The beauty of this track is its sense of pain and loss. Despite whatever it means, a loss of innocence, a death of a family member or a break-up between two lovers. I personally am vibing with the lover interpretation. The last line of seeing someone in the next life is indicative of a karmic connection, usually karmic connections are unstable and continuous if it feels like they did not fulfil their purpose behind the union. Thank you Radiohead for making this song so I can cry to it like a little baby when I am all alone in my house and no one can see me. Need to let it out somehow and this is helping.

My opinion differs from everyone about what this song is about but there is no clear indication to what it could be. I believe that the women he loves sends him letters as some sort of romantic act. However he doesn't understand the purpose he knows its truly foolish. He tells her I think you're crazy and to wake up because it's all lies. He says sleeping pills and cheap sex because he doesn't find the light to his life and doesn't find the answers to his understanding, he doesn't feel satisfied, he feels disappointed. "Ill see you in the next life" means he hopes it's better in the next life. He just hopes for a better life that makes more sense. Romance, relationships, and life aren't truly represented like how they are in the movies, reality is sadly disappointing.
The way Thom conveys this feeling is just something no one else I believe could achieve.

This song sounds like slowly bleeding out in a dark alley, gradually feeling your body give out as you stare up at the stars above and find yourself smiling, though you don't know why.
Behind you, ambulance sirens sound off in the distance.
They're not there for you, though, and even if they were, they would not get there fast enough.
You think of your mother, your sister, their faces play through your dimming mind like degrading film stills. You can't for the life of you recall their voices.
The moon is so much brighter than you've ever seen it.

This song takes me back to a point in my life where I followed my heart and utterly humiliated myself to the point of looking and feeling totally crazy. I questioned my sanity maybe I had dreamed this whole romance up and it was unrequited all along. For a time, I would spend my time with people I didn’t really love…”cheap sex” and drinking _a lot_ “red wine” nevertheless the void persisted to get where I belong.
Once I heard the whimsical harp play, a satisfying sadness filled me. Despite looking crazy I was brave enough to be vulnerable and give it my all.

Repeat to yourself that they're not really gone
Time has proven that fooling yourself into believing a lie is the most effective way to deal with things you have no control over
Keep listening to the mixtapes they made you
Overanalyze every single word you hear
"Was this a sign that things were going wrong?"
No, no, you were the one that cared too hard, not them
Stay up every single night staring at your phone
Either attempting to gather up the courage to turn these demons, these constant reminders of your loneliness into nothing more than a bad dream
Or praying just for one second you could feel the warmth of equally returned love
Go out for coffee four times a week by yourself
Always bring your notebook, never stop writing
Leave little comics and thank you notes with your tip
Watch them smile as you get in your car
Talk down on yourself whenever possible
"My life is shit because I deserve it, right?"
    You must have done something really bad;
It's nearly impossible for you to cry now
Avoid your friends for weeks even though they're the only sense of consistency you have left in your life
If they really wanted to see you they'd come, but they won't
    Who cares?
Allow yourself to lose interest in the things you love
Watch as you begin to take a backseat to the world around you, don't fight it
Become a secondary character in your own motion picture
But most importantly drown every single one of your feelings in old stolen rum
Learn to love the taste of it dripping down your throat
Find comfort in the warmth coming from your stomach
    You're drinking bottled love now
You don't need other people to drive away your loneliness
You just needed to find a way to talk to it
