just watched lindsey ellis' yoko/lennon video last week - this is the perfect companion!! thank you so much for another creative and fascinating vid :)
It may be worth investigating the work of Richard Thompson, especially in the mid 70s. A convert to Sufism, his music is completely interwoven with its themes and poetry in a manner that is very inspirational to my own craft. Also an incredible guitarist, my favourite.
Now 'Tomorrow Never Knows' is perhaps my favorite song of all time for a short sing with outstanding lyrics that hold for more truth than most in such a short timespan. Did not know George had such an influence on this as I always thought of John as the writer and one who had such deep thoughts into the true meaning and values of this song. Thanks
Did you know that according to Georges best friend F1 champion Emerson Fittipaldi George accepted Jesus Christ at his cancer retrear in Switzerland?Emerson says George was filled with the Holy Spirit and played Jesus songs on his eukelele a few weeks before his death!the testimony is on youtube@@FilipHolm
He's my favorite Beatle and his Indian inspired work is some of my favorite music ever! Really thankful that you did this video on him. I've also been listening to a lot of Alice Coltrane recently and I would love to see a video on her
This is the best video explaining the musical/spiritual journey of GH and his significance to modern music and culture that I have ever seen. 108 Thank yous. I will check out your music. And rewatch this video. Thanks also for the book references in the description. 🙏🏻
My sweet George was a guiding light along a colorful spiritual path that led to the freedom of Advaita Vedanta and the heartfelt expressions of Bhakti…. I Am and will always bow at the feet of this most musical guru…✌🏼❤️🙏🕉
A great subject for a video would be the hardcore punk subculture of Krishnacore. Bands like Shelter, 108 and the Cro-Mags that blend hardcore punk and Krishna Consciousness.
I've always had a particular fondness for the way "My Sweet Lord" presents an almost synchronized spirituality, using both Abrahamic Christian and Hindu Hare Krishna chants to praise God.
Thank you Filip. Yes. Music as devotional practice, with chanting also. People make a distinction between Love and Knowledge. Closer movement may reveal the interdependence of each. Was the snippet of music at the end of this video in 6/8 time? I'm not musically trained, but have always been drawn to interesting "eastern" rhythms. One I particularly like is called Kopanitsa - from bulgarian folk music I believe. Perhaps even more ancient. Many thanks, I will look out for the new release come friday.
George did however before his death in Switzerland became a Born Again Christian finally accepting Jesus Christ according to his best friend Brazilian F1 champion Emerson Fittipaldi who was with George when it happened and he said George became filled with the Holy Spirit and played Jesus songs on his eukelele! Its on youtube!
