Shen jiu never grew up to think about it..he just knows he needed to survive he never had a chance to experience what growth means and how to heal, he just knows that the world is cruel everyone is cruel I mean he only knows peace when he in the brothel. It’s just sad seeing how his character was down played by others
This was a wonderful take on shen jiu's character! Truly shows how he became the scum we know today. Although his actions are inexcusable, you can't deny that you wouldn't do the same in the situation. Absolutely love the clean artstyle, the expressions, the monochrome palette (with the striking red) and the song choice! #ShenJiuApologists
I agree he is my favourite character and the only reason I read the whole novel because he is such an interesting character to understand. I really like how it shows the ugly sides of trauma and depression. In the way the world never gave him anything nice and always punished him for trying to be good so why would he and why should he if he can’t be happy why should other.Of course this is not helpful and the right path or any path to happiness at all but it is the only path he knows and the one he took to survive.

Im obsessed with this art, the color choices used. And the scenes. Green, comforting and muted when SJ is with Ning Yingying, a dark green that looks almost blackened, contrasted with orangey-red, then this bloody bright red for LQG's death.
Specifically, the way child-Jiu's arm was dark blue, it was like looking at a corpse.
This whole animatic was just a really excellent use of framing, color choice, and the amazing artwork to portray this beautifully. You have great talent!

And this song is so perfect for Shen Jiu, and you executed it wonderfully 🥺🥺 Also, I love how (especially towards the end of the song) it was very much directed towards Qiu Haitang-- I don't know why, but I totally thought it would be sung sort of in the direction of YQY (like the "you always said how you loved dogs" part), but this angle is very welcome and worked very well!! I love love love the designs for all of the characters/how you draw them, it's soooo lovely to look at!! thank you so much for sharing!

Absolutely wonderful!!!! Really captures the pain Shen Jiu went through. Then the composition itself is amazing: the cuts to the beat, the colors, the expressions, the everything. I feel like such a sap saying all this but I really do love it ❤❤❤

Btw, Shen Jiu is by far my favourite in entire svsss. I just love him as a character and he has a special place my heart. He's so tragic, and yet it's so satisfying to see him get his revenge and climb to the top. He is a terrible man, and yet you can't help but root for him. He's so harsh, tenacious, vicious and strong, and yet he's so brittle, traumatized and vulnerable. And he has some IQ. Guy contains multitudes.

hehe, no, that part wasnt intentional but it does give similar vibes (kudos to you! i didnt even realize 😆) i did put a lot of other thematic parallels of lbh's pmv and this, from the qiu sibling's design, props and the framing. i really wanna say but i think it ruins the magic so i just hope people notices and make conclusions lmaoo 😩😭

1. How on earth was Binghe supposed to complain when it was Shen Jiu who was bullying and tormenting him like every day??? And just so you know, Ming Fan and the other shixiong were simply following their shizun's actions.
2. It's confirmed that Shen Jiu HIMSELF handed that fake manual to Luo Binghe to INTENTIONALLY hinder his cultivation. And besides what struck Shen Jiu's ego and pride was not the faulty manual but Luo Binghe himself. He was envious that this child had everything he could never have and the fact that despite his abuse and torture, Binghe was still fine and even improving.
(Liu Qingge didn't want Binghe as a disciple???? Shen Jiu only took Binghe to spite Liu Qingge??)
3. It was probably because of his frequent visits to the brothel and his favoritism with Yingying that such accusations were linked to Shen Jiu. Well sure you do have a point but then again Shen Jiu kept going there again and again. Many times. And coupled with Liu Qingge's not-very-helpful-help and Shen Jiu's pride to not confess, obviously everyone would think he's doing papapa; afterall, what else could he be doing???? (And honestly, who could blame them??)
4. Idk but this one but without a doubt, Shen Jiu is a sadist (only towards Luo Binghe, I think though). Instead of snapping his head or whatever, I feel like pushing him off the abyss would satisfy him better. Like for him, 'pushing the beast to where he belongs etc etc idk'
Love Shen Jiu but he's not innocent. Same thing goes for pidw Luo Binghe.
But anyways yeah I'll probably dismiss whatever I've written above and will continue to imagine and read happy fics of qijiu, liujiu, even shangjiu and bingjiu 💀 idc as long as shen yuan isn't there and Shen Jiu gets his very much deserved happy ending ☺️☺️😊😊

@@Evidoll yes, while that is true (Shen Yuan and Luo Binghe being unreliable narrators), it's no doubt that Shen Jiu truly was cruel. Afterall, why pour hot tea on a child's head? If it was medicinal tea, why not just give the child normal medicine? Besides Shen Yuan said at that time that envy was clearly written on Shen Jiu's face.
Sure, while we never got Shen Jiu's pov during those times, you can't deny, having a young disciple Luo Binghe tormented and do all manual labor while Shen Jiu simply watched and even kept Luo Binghe's only friend Ning Yingying away? That's not abuse? How is that helping?
Even if those were roundabout ways to help Binghe or whatever, Luo Binghe had every right to take revenge on Shen Jiu. Maybe said ways of revenge was too extreme, but either way, I would have honestly want to take revenge had I been in his shoes.

Shen Jiu is the "Scum Villain", the original owner of the body Shen yuan transmigrated into. His story line is in one of the extras of the novel.
