    Many lifters struggle with posture and bracing while squatting and that can lead to lack of stability in the spine and hips, as with a pelvic tuck or butt wink. In an attempt to increase efficiency and strength while limiting the risk of injury, it is necessary to understand how the hip and lumbar spine are positioned in a squat and how to brace in order to maintain that position.

    This has been a huge help for me. I still have to really work at it. I have trouble disconnecting the glute tightening from quad tightening for whatever reason. When I get this right, I feel significantly stronger in my squat, and way more stable

    You can't keep your glutes flexed on the way down. Flexing them is what makes you more in line standing. Bending is the opposite.

    I have a quick question. I blew out my achilles trying to be the cool dad doing Taekwondo with my 8 and 6 year old. Some time has passed. I feel good benching, deadlifting, and doing RDLs etc; however, squatting is another matter. I believe my hips are out of alignment and I have weakness due to weight compensation. I feel great pressing from the bottom but getting from the start of the lift to the bottom really aggravates my back. Any ideas or helpful resources I can research that might help? Thank you for your time.

      Maybe try some squat shoes. Your Achilles could be overly tight and be pulling on your calves and hamstrings which could affect your back. Im not sure though, squat with a towel on your heels and see if it helps

    How the hell do you do this on a deadlift? Not sure how to keep the flutes short while bent over.

    @Bromley What do you think of using a pvc pipe to develop proper posture? I find that if I keep my head back over my shoulders, my posture is so much stronger in squatting bigger weights.

    How do you combat staying tight with hips, while keeping the knees behind the toe-line? Is that a hip-flexibiltiy issue? Is it a lower-back or core issue?

    • @gustavtanciulamadsen2928
      @gustavtanciulamadsen2928 4 года назад +4

      Let the knee travel where they need to go, if that is over the toes, then be it. It is not dangerous for your knees to go over your toes.

    Hi love the channel keep this stuff coming, I have a question, I've got my 4 lower lumber disks l2-s1 that are worn and bulging with 3 pressing on nerves and a tear, at times this can be very painful and it has limited my training over the past 2 years, I'm seeing an NHS (UK ) physio and he is telling me not to brace as that is aggrevating my lower back, this sounds wrong to me as I've been led to believe I have to brace to protect my back, could you give me your thoughts please.

    So that's actually the opposite what weightlifters do and what they coach. They prescribe neutral spine aka naturally curved spine

    I actually find it way easier when I arc my back during squats. I know lots of people don't like this, but it honestly feels easier and healthier. I'm also able to maintain the same arc for the whole squat, and it lets me get deeper.

    • @jondwyer9323

      that's fine that you think that but it's physically impossible that APT makes it easier to squat deeper
