I agree wholeheartedly with this father, officer safety is overused and an excuse for cowardly behaviour. There is no training where they say officers stand in front of a suspect car and do commands from there, he also left his patrol car several feet away. He should have pulled behind the vehicle with his patrol vehicle and did the felony stop from there. If the guy flees, now you got a pursuit, if he complies, You are clearly going to need backup because it's only one of you and it could be other people in that car.
