About your comment on "Socialist Propaganda"
I encourage you to listen to Noam Chomsky and Professor Richard Wolff (Democracy@work)
      They talk about wage slavery.
      And Yanis Varoufakis from Greece.
I am a Libratarian Socialist that believes in direct democracy, by that I mean I'm completely against Madisonian Democracy that is in practice in the United States and therefore thrust upon most of the world or be crushed by it.
I want democracy in the workplace, this has nothing to do with all powerful state overlords but just every worker in the enterprise has an equal sharehold in the company and takes a monthly vote, the board members has at bare minimum 50% or more of the workers that are changed every month like the rest with only 2 being advertisers or funders of the company so profits over people doesn't become the golden rule.
James Madison one of the to founding members of the United States system of representative democracy. But not representative of the working class or the vast majority of it's people, but of the top 1%. In other words the opulent against the proletariat.
Madison foresaw that the threat of democracy, was going to become more severe over time, "because of the increase in the proportion of those who will labor under all the hardships of life, and secretly sigh for a more equal distribution of it's blessing's"
He warned than equality of sufferage: the "equal laws of sufferage" might in time shift power into their hands (the middle to lower class majority) this is still the constitutional conventions, no agrarian attempts have yet been made in this country, but the symptoms of a leveling spirit have sufficiently appeared in certain quarters to give warning of the future danger.
      • the future danger is the danger of democracy, notice!
The solution that James Madison came up with back in 1787 was:
To ensure that the upper house, which would have the Senate which would have the main power, ought to come from and represent the nation "The more CaPaBlE set of Men, who will sympathize sufficiently with the rights of propterty, and who will protect the Opulent Minority(upper 1% of wealthy elites) from the majority(middle to lower class)"
"And the system that was designed, the voting patterns, the checks and balances, the distribution of powers was arranged for the same end. The idea was essentially that the wealthy would essentially run it"
Madison paraphrased quotes believed the elites would be Noble englightened rulers that would do the right thing by the people.
He quickly realized by 1792 there was something wrong,
James Madison warned that the hamiltonian developmental state was substituting the motive of private interests in place of public duty leading to a real domination of the few under an apparent liberty of the many.
Madison "deplored the daring depravity of the times as the stock jobbers become the pretorian guard of the government, once it's tools and it's tyrants bribed by it's largesses over awhing it with their powers and combinations."
This^ was quotes from Noam Chomsky in case you're interested. It includes actual written quotes from James Madison. You would be shocked at what Walter Lippmann and Edward Bernays has been quoted saying. Including John D Rockefeller - "I want a nation of workers, not thinker's"
I know people run scared when they hear socialism or communism and blend it in their minds with leninism or Maoism or Marxism or Stalinism which weren't actually socialist structures they where state capitalist systems controlled by a state military and dictators.
You have a strong focus on wage slavery, a problem that's in the workplace. Many of whom I mentioned have been fighting for change of these systems comparing capitalist corporation relationships with their workers to that of feudalism with a master and wage slave relationship.
Like Noam Chomsky has pointed out, going back 80+ years the people of many countries believed that wage slavery isn't that far removed from chattel slavery in the sense you are renting yourself to survive and that is true for the vast majority of people in this world.
Abraham Lincoln and the Republican party during his presidency considered renting yourself for companies to be demeaning and a form of wage slavery and they compared it to slavery. Think about it, if you make $200 an hour for a company, they don't pay you what you are worth or what you produce, they pay you 1/10th of what your labor produced assuming you make $20/hr which is far above what most do in the United States which is between $8-$15 for the vast majority of Americans with no benefits, time off, or any control in what happens with the products they produced or the profits of the products their labor created. These workers have no control over their pay, time off, if they will get laid off or if the company is sold with mass layoffs or if the workforce gets benefits. Their company controls, when they eat, if they have breaks and how long, if they can talk and who too, how they can talk, what they wear and what motions their body has to make.
If that resonates with you definitely look up Prof Richard Wolff on Democracy in the workplace.

Never fully get why some people are uptight angry if you come across in their mind as support a different side. It's strange when you're a person with no strong opinion just trying to learn a subject and someone can jump down your throat base on how you phrase a question in the journey of trying to learn. example as a teen during an election year I was starting to be curious but really had no clue so just asked a question not really knowing much about either side, but the person flipped started to yell their friend was a republican how dare I. So a week later trying to learn about the same thing thought about phrasing the question different asked that person flipped about someone else being democratic and I was offending their family.
Yeah, politics really get people angry and upset LOL Its one of the topics you're not supposed to bring up at a job. A benign comment like don't forget to vote can get peoples panties in a twist a grown person out of nowhere having a tantrum not to speck of politics on the defense like you're threating them.

I build houses and see people with a credit score of 650 buying with 3% down as first time homeowners.
The problem I am running into is cost of raw materials and labor.
It cost about $160 per sf to build in some parts of Virginia. So I can build a 140k house but it will be less than 900 sf.

There is something that I have noticed during the time that I have been a worker for corporations. Back in the 1980s, there was the 'Personnel Department'. Now, the name has been changed to, 'The Department of Human Resources'. In my opinion, the word, personnel, refers to people as persons, as human beings. The term, human resources, refers to us workers as nothing but another commodity. This is but a little thing, but it leads me to wonder, why the change in terminology?

In the age of information, it's become more apparent to myself, an American, that in the pursuit of a free republic, we failed to destroy or differentiate from the imperial, noble and royal hierarchical system we were birthed from. Today, the royal inheritors are just newly named.

@@TomScryleus I think that grimngruesome8988 is very close to the target. I have little knowledge of labor unions, but it seems like unions in the private sector are declining. If this is the case, then this could be a contributing factor in the fat-cats becoming bolder about things like this. What follows is something different, but I would like to send this your way. I work for a worldwide corporation. About 7 years ago they rolled out, what they said would be a whole new structure in the business model. They hired a consulting firm that claimed that they turned the Toyota corporation around and brought them riches with their new system of doing business. We had to attend trainings, had to play games with Legos and rest of the nonsense that goes with this sort of thing. In the end, it did nothing to improve anything. I am not privy to the financial info, but I believe this was a boondoggle that cost my company scores of millions of dollars. Now my company is trying to roll out a new thing like the last, but this one seems even more stupid than the last one. So, are there a lot of corporations out there that are trying these, I'll call them progressive experiments, on their employees?

Switzerland has a level of social democracy we could not fathom. I’m saying “true capitalism” in the sense that it exists on paper. The whole jazz about competition and what not. That word has been polluted (conveniently?) to death. Anarchy means “No ruler”, not “no rules, burn everything”, just NO RULER.
Which goes hand in hand with a few seconds before regarding taxes and government as public workers: the glaring issue is that there is no consent, we can’t as citizens part with our taxes and give it to the one that gives the better and cheaper “State goods and services”.
One of the main differences between a job and slavery is consent… this totally flips the script over making us the forced workers of the state.

@@TomScryleus, I like what you said about the paradox between living in a 'democratic' country and working for a communist-like corporation within that country, but it doesn't take a genius to realize that basically all companies are oppressive. And just wait until you find out about how many toxic chems they put in our food and products .... They're poisoning us and that's only the tip of the iceberg ....
What you've gotten wrong though, is that we live in a democracy. This couldn't be any further from the truth. In America (where probably most of your audience is from), we live in an oligarchy that is desperately trying to convince it's citizens that they still live in a democracy. If you want proof of this look no further than lobbying and political donations from the wealthiest people in America and also look at how fake our elections are and how easy it would be to fake the results of said elections. If you want me to go into more detail about that just ask me to in the comments.
You say that you don't want to start a revolution. Seems like you're afraid of being labeled as an extremist or communist. The thing is, is that revolution is EXACTLY what we need in the West. We live in pretty extreme times and it calls for extreme action. What you should NOT be doing is advocating for cowardly, passive aggressive actions such as quiet quitting. I wrote another diatribe on your quiet quiting video that you posted a few months ago on why quiet quiting is not the way to go. It's posted as a reply to your comment at the top.
I think you have good intentions, brother. You see the evil for what it truly is but you're weak and can't do anything about it except convince people to be passive aggressive like you. I'd recommend going outside and becoming strong and independent. Learn how to hunt, forage and grow your own food. Learn how to camp out in the woods and how to build and fix things. Go out and exercise and get stronger. Stop consuming the poison that they feed us. Once you become strong, healthy and independent, revolution doesn't seem so scary anymore. The government should fear the people, not the other way around.
"Evil always prevails when good men do nothing"
I don't know about you Tom, but I'm not going to just sit around and do nothing.

The pandemic is a great example of how people want to outsource their thinking, and close ranks on dissenting yet logical voices to have it mentally comfortable. This is the inherent problem for all democratic and inequality problems in the developed world. Politics are this because we are. And most of the people who do think, don't bother. It's better just to leverage knowledge to shield us from the consequences. Only when it gets bad enough things will happen. Like we're seeing in Sweden now, 25 years to late.

my problem with that too is there quite literally isn't a system besides full-fledged anarchy that doesn't have a group of people in charge, even if everyone votes and its majority rules, the majority are then the group with the power over the minority, in order to have any system you have to have leaders of some kind, the best you can do is create ones that have proper checks and balances in place. And if you are going to live with other people around, whether it be one other person or a million, you all have to agree to live in some kind of system so that conflicts can be resolved. We are human, we are flawed, every system will be flawed, and everyone will have a conflict with someone at some point, we just have to do the best we can and evolve the systems we live in to work for us.

First off, let me say that I mostly agree with you and I only have a few areas of disagreement but that's okay. There's not one person in this world that I'm in 100% agreement with. One thing that I do agree with you on is when you said that even good politicians become bad if they remain in office long enough. There's a lot of truth in that and there are a couple of old sayings that apply:
    1. "Politicians are like diapers. They need to be changed often and for the same reason."
    2. "Power corrupts and absolute power corrupts absolutely."
As far as wage slavery is concerned, I agree with you which is why I recently started following your channel. However, please note that there are other types of slavery such as debt slavery that people fall into and believe are "normal". It is good that many of these topics are discussed on channels like this one so that awareness is achieved. It is going to take some time to undo the slavery mentality as it is firmly ingrained in our society and has been for hundreds if not thousands of years. No one wants to believe that they (and their families) have been deceived for most, if not all, of their lives. It's a bitter pill to swallow and not everyone will choose to do it.
Lastly, on the subject of good and evil, please be aware that both actually exist and are not limited to certain groups. ALL groups have both good and evil within them just as we as individuals have good and evil inside of us. We all make choices every minute of every day as to which path we are going to follow and our choices have consequences, both good and bad.

As always, it's a treat to listen and see your video. I appreciate your wisdom and insight. For this video, you made effective use of concrete examples in your personal life to elucidate, broaden an understanding of social constructs (capitalism and socialism), and clarify your position regarding some subscribers/viewers' objections to your stance on this ideological spectrum. Speaking of voting and democracy, I think it's a pragmatic issue of voting for the lesser of the two evils on several occasions. On another note, you trenchantly mentioned the fact that in real life, the presidential candidates are selected by elite groups and that you raised doubt that anyone can really run for president in a democratic country, in practice rather than in theoretical framework.
This intelligent and luminous observation is a striking parallel to Animal Farm written by George Orwell, in spite of a clear difference between socialism (mentioned in your video) and communism as depicted in the novel. In this novel, Mr Jones, the owner of Manor Farm, represents the capitalist class who ruthlessly exploits the labor of workers. Some animals such as Clover (a mare), Boxer (a horse) and the sheep represent the working class. Napoleon (a pig) represents Stalin, the communist Russian leader. Unfortunately, both Mr Jones and Napoleon have inflicted considerable physical and mental torment to animals on the farm.
The ending of the novel is haunting and painful: "Boxer worked harder than ever...... In nothing that he did or said was there any sign that his strength was not what it had been. It was only his appearance that was a little altered.... Sometimes on the slope leading to the top of the quarry, when he braced his muscles against the weight of some vast boulder, it seemed that nothing kept him on his feet except the will to continue. The once-powerful Boxer will soon fall, never to regain his health."
Tom, thank you for sharing your thoughtful, compassionate, and noble vision for humanity: "I want people to have more time for family and self development." You are wise beyond your years and you have a beautiful soul. All the best to you.

I would love to have several people I know watch this video with an open mind (and open ears). The comparison of the Corporation having total control of everything as opposed to what people think is a democracy is eye opening. I work in healthcare. We have to wear certain clothes, and are restricted in numerous ways. Cannot be creative or deviate. I hate this, but I do like what I do (MRI). This is a bit difficult to do when the government keeps giving multinationals a free ride while small businesses are under a heavy red tape & tax load. Where I live most of the small local businesses have been killed off like this. One also can't really compete with multinationals. Businesses locally as well as nationally lobby and fund politicians, so when those get into power they get the government contracts and favorable laws. This kind of stuff even happens in science, you don't get funding for anything that negatively impacts profits or the ruling ideology. The more power, influence and money you have the more wealth you can make, often simply by keeping your competition down & buying favors giving yourself and edge in the game. My brother has a small company, they work night and day, he has gained a lot of weight, lost some hair and they are barely able to stay afloat. Politicians do not work for "the people who vote", they work for whoever funds their campaign. I know, because the business I used to work for had shady deals with the local social democrat party. We gave them money and help and when they got into power, we got all the contracts. Its how this works on a very large scale as well, most people are just not aware.

I’m not a communist, but I do believe in the concept of wage slavery. I don’t think there’s necessarily anything wrong with an employee working for an employer, as long as they have freedom of choice, but under capitalism as it exists, the only choice is work or starve. Employees aren’t truly free unless they have the ability to say no. That’s why I believe in the concept of universal basic income. People shouldn’t have to work in order to live. People should be provided with a basic standard of living, and if they want to go beyond that, that’s when work comes into play. I honestly don’t believe socialism would necessarily solve the problem of wage slavery. Instead of working under the tyranny of a capitalist, employees would be working under the tyranny of a collective. Socialism fails to take into account that many people don’t wish to fit into either paradigm. That’s why I believe in a mixture of different economic systems. Any economic system can be oppressive if it is followed too dogmatically.

The people who want socialism are the people that want to get rich working in a company, but that won't happen in a socialist society. The only way that a 20hr work week would work, is if everyone in the world only worked 20hrs a week however you would have to accept half or less of the products and services.

    • @TomScryleus
      @TomScryleus  3 месяца назад

      3 part answer:
01 well, if you currently go down to 20 hours in your current job, you will make half, and that won't be enough to cover the bills, unless you figure out a way to live half as cheap.
02 the alternative is to find a way to make the same amount of money or more while working 20 hours or less. The way to do that would be being a specialist at something, meaning your hourly rate would be twice as high.
03 the third option is to find a wage to scale your earnings, by creating income generating assets. Say write books, or make videos that generate passive income.

The biggest protector and defender of capitalism is not the capitalist class, it is the working class.

Your last statement is very true. It is the prisoners who are defending the prison in which they do not even realize they are locked.
Look at those who work in law enforcement…they are the biggest idiots out there. They think that they have become a part of something that will offer their own protection, but they are only the pawns, the minions, and the flying monkeys doing the bidding of the wicked witch (their own local government).
Then think about all those who ‘serve’ in the military. It does not matter which country they have given their allegiance to, they are all ultimately serving the enemy of all mankind.

I think chomsky said that people are divided in two groups. The first group, about 30% think for themselves, start their own business, rebell, express dissent etc. the other group, the 70% don't question the status quo. as long as someone tells them what to do and think, they will protect it.
