I made a 2 foot diameter of some up-cycled chain-link fence to make a hoop that the feeder sits into. Cardinals and finches get inside but the larger birds just stopped coming around.
The feeder comes factor set to 4 Oz. that should be fine for the larger squirrels. Smaller squirrels you will need to play around. I usually suggest putting the dial half way between the middle and top marker.
Can you focus and talk more about adjustment and the lower red line and allowing for bigger birds, this is long winded and short on information I already love the feeder dont need to b sold on it this is supposed to b a video on how to adjust . The peanut feeder adjustment video is freaking awesome right to the point this how to do it
Thank you for the feedback and suggestions. This video is intended specifically to adjust the Eliminator to prevent black birds (larger birds). If you need more information about adjusting the feeder you can watch the manufacturers instructional video ruclips.net/video/7VhGlqgZVHM/видео.html or read the manual that comes with the feeder. I'm not sure what peanut feeder video you are referring to as I have not made one of these. Perhaps you are confusing this channel with the manufacturers channel? If you find this video long winded I don't recommend watching our other videos which are more informational- than to the point as you describe.
Hi! The Eliminator is available exclusively at Wild Birds Unlimited stores :) You can find your closest store with our store locator tool: www.wbu.com/store-locator/
@@JessieKlein Not a knock off, but it is the same as the green version from Brome. They are the supplier for WBU for that feeder. So same quality, just a different color.
It's an investment for sure but I'd like to offer another way to look at this feeder. We have customers that have had this feeder for 25 years and longer! And with a lifetime warranty you can fix it time and time again. I've personally had two for 10 years and they work great. Even if you only look at a 5 year time frame the feeder is less than a cup of coffee a month (2.5 years if your getting your coffee at Starbucks). All this to save the headaches of squirrels and blackbirds is worth it to me! Lastly, consider how much money you save when the squirrels aren't eating or dumping the food on the ground. This feeder pay dividends!
Weird how I used to be so worried about the starlings, grackles, blackbirds a nd all bully birds..now I'm trying to get rid of all my annoying house sparrows!!
Thanks for your comment! We’ve started a live bird feeder cam and moved over to a different RUclips Channel. We encourage you to check out our new channel and subscribe to see our new content. Since we moved our content over there we have not been responding to comments on our older videos as frequently. Great question. You can offer the No-Mess with millet in this feeder but we strongly recommend a No-Mess without millet for this feeder. The reason being that the millet is the same width as the drainage holes and it tends to clog the feeder. So if you have another option of a No-Mess without millet use that one instead!

What I do is seasonally remove the ring but I always have a tray or cylinder feeder out for cardinals with safflower or nutrasaff to keep them happy.

It's not really something that's offered to attract birds here, but thanks for the suggestion!
Yes you're right these tips won't work for House Sparrows. This video was only to help prevent blackbirds. Sparrows are too light for any of the adjustments. For sparrows you have to try offering foods that don't appeal to them as much. Larger seeds with shells. People will also use halos with some success: projectfeederwatch.wordpress.com/2012/10/09/do-feeder-halos-keep-house-sparrows-at-bay/
They tend to take over and discourage other birds. They can prevent anyone else from feeding and they eat quite a bit. If you want everyone to feed equally there are many feeders that can accommodate that. But this feeder is designed as a problem solver :)
Are we talking about the same bird, blackbirds are ground feeders, now starlings in our grden are the greedy ones, they tend to take over the feeders..
You did a great job explaining everything. Thanks

I find the weather guard, when mounted on the eliminator really helps to discourage some of the larger birds as well.
Yes for sure! They can't get to the food as easy. It's great.
Excellent video!!!! 👏 💐
Thank you! Cheers!

Hello and thank you for the video. What is setting to keep squirrels and black birds but feed Cardinals and wood peckers?

Where can I buy this feeder?
Thanks for the information, the black birds eat all the bird food so fast and I can’t appreciate my smaller birds.

It appears to be a knock off of one of the 'Brome' feeders..
@@JessieKlein Not a knock off, but it is the same as the green version from Brome. They are the supplier for WBU for that feeder. So same quality, just a different color.
So expensive! Going to have to find another alternative!

I know. They can be such a pain! By comparison the blackbirds and starlings are easier to discourage.
Problem is when the ring is removed the weight adjustment is bumped up way to heavy...
You can make adjustments to compensate for the weight of the ring. You just have to play with it a bit!
Can you use no mess and white millet in this feeder?

Is this your new channel? Ontario Bird Feeder Cam- The Most Colourful Birds in 4K
Yes that’s the live cam the channel is ruclips.net/user/kristenmartyn 😊
Will it stop my Cardinals and wood peckers? I love having them in my yard. I just don’t like black birds and crows.

Love both of my Eliminators. Worst every penny.
I couldn't agree more they are my favourite feeders!
Why keep black birds away? To help keep cowbirds away?
Because they tend to take over feeders, eat lots of food and prevent other birds from feeding!
or...just put some apples on your yard, they very much prefer apples over seeds and every bird is fine ;)

I'm trying to keep the sparrows off it. Either way seems to be a loser

Why keep black birds away?
They drain the birdseed in a matter of hours
Why wouldnt you want blackbirds.... just feed all birds.
They tend to take over and discourage other birds. They can prevent anyone else from feeding and they eat quite a bit. If you want everyone to feed equally there are many feeders that can accommodate that. But this feeder is designed as a problem solver :)
You've obviously never seen them in action or have an unlimited birdseed budget.

@@mariatimmins8846 🤔 Here in my area, I'm talking Grackles.
@@antoniobrown3219 ahhh ok, not same in that case, blackbirds here (uk) are quite sweet hopping around the ground.. 🙂
