The Dyrnwyn is what you will need for the North update which is why it is so hard to get.
I'm thinking the same thing.
lightning elemental on the flametal weapons also has a chance of a chain reaction that damages nearby enemies!
Mr. Sparks, the dyrnwyn is a future weapon for their final major update, the Deep North. They just add it up on the ashlands update. (Please note, this is just my theory)
There is a lot they can do here. They can have an underwater biome and maybe somehow a sky biome if not a biome tied to the huge tree we see in the game
I doubt the deep north will be the final major update
It’s been in the game for ages and as a spawn item in the cheats menu
@@Capper_Brathink it’ll be the 1.0 update though right?
@@sethivaltas619 I dont know. Im just saying they can still do a lot of new biomes with whats in the world already
Dyrnwynn - reference to the burning sword in the Prydain book series by Lloyd Alexander. Gonna be the goat weapon in the frozen north
The sword upgraded now has 151 Slash 10 Fire.
Okay but hear me out, its a sword… thats on fire…. Nuff said
Dyrnwyn is foreshadowing the upcoming deep north biome, for sure. Also, I think your judgment of its viability is a bit premature. Fire dmg stacks with itself, so on reapplication, the DoT dmg increases.
So does poison. But lightning is more effective overall in the Ashlands. And like I've told many who seem to think it's going to be op in the north. Cold is not as op in the Ashlands as one would expect.
@@Firespark81 No, poison does NOT stack, it merely resets the timer. Fire, spirit, and frost all stack with themselves and reset the timer. Don't take my word for it; go check it out...
@@Firespark81 I do agree however, lightning does seem to be the best subtype for ashlands.
@@MrSageOlorin The Lightning Berserkir Axes shreds through Morgens. If i'm lucky enough, One parry is enough to kill it while its staggered. AND the chain lightning effect the Thundering Weapons have. Deals with any additional Undead that decide they want to play with Morgen and I
I changed my mind. I didn’t realize it could be upgraded.
Definitely. The regular flametal sword is just as good
Actually the lightning sword DOES do more than just lightning damage. Unlike the Himminafl (Mistlands lightning Atgier) which just does lightning damage, the Lightning imbued flametal weapons have a chance to spawn chain lighting that RIPS through groups of weaker ashlands mobs. Great for fortresses or when you are outnumbered anywhere.
Dyrnwyn is more to be a collectors item, as previously it was used as a cheat sword and only accessible via console commands, It was here from the start of the game so the Devs added it in to the most fitting area for it.
I guess Dyrnwyn will be very usefull in deep north
Level 1 damage is 145 slash & 10 Fire now, great video on how to get it
All i have to saw is FIRE... thats the only reason i want it haha
The dyrnwyn is a nod to Anduril!!
My guess is the fire sword will be a heck of an asset in the next biome and by then we'll have more crafting upgrades. Not a priority but I bet you'll want to have one in 18 months when BrrrCold comes out.
Thanks for the info!
This sword is a preparation to progress into the Deep North ( next biome ) Fire damage there will be huge.
One would think this but cold does not affect as many things in the ashlands as we would expect. So we will just have to wait and see what they have planned.
That lightning chains though! Bzzzzt
I think it’s more so just for a treasure hunt and they brought in an old admin command and made it true 😊. Pretty cool.
I love the Dyrnwyn. So much so, I discovered it a few years ago and spawned it for lighting in my builds. Too cool 🤩
Doesnt make sense to make it crazy powerful as it will be more powerful when we go to the deep north on next big update because its flame
Hard agree. If monster in the north are weak to fire this sword will be "BIS"
As I mentioned in another reply. One would think this but cold does not affect as many things in the ashlands as we would expect. So we will just have to wait and see what they have planned.
it will be useful in deep north
the dynwyn needs a rework, maybe something to do with its secondary attack, like having it summon a meteor or something
Hello Sparky, it's pronounced: "NID-HOG"..... In Norse mythology, Níðhöggr is a dragon who gnaws at a root of the world tree, Yggdrasil. In historical Viking society.
Love the vids, keep it up mate :)
Yes, I agree with you. It’s definitely for the next biome. But that does not help now.
the dwyrnym is probably the go to weapon for the next ice biome. will probably melt mobs in there. they already know that so they made a little fetch quest in order to make it more challenging to get. doesnt seem farfetched
found all 3 parts. still using the mistwalker though. I see no reason to upgrade.
This sword might come in handy in the biomb after, we know that it will be the Deep North.
FireSpark81, Your videos always make me happy, so I subscribed!
I think they changed the damage since you did your video. I'm pretty sure it does 147 at level 1 now.
how nice it would be if could dual wield 2 different 1h weapon
With mods, yes hahahaha
ive found the cave first by mistake when morgan was rolling around braking the walls, thanks now all i need is the rest that is on the table
Something like -20% stamina use on attacks would make it useful - just throwing some ideas out there :)
just give it a more powerful Fire DoT effect, all it needs
Looks like a cool sword, i gotta collect it at some point. But my mele days are over, i am going full magic now with all the new magic gear, 1-7 on my hotbar is all staffs😁 got the hammer on 8, but thinking of making the one that summons skeletons to go there.
1:10 of course they mark only 1 location on my map (I found 7). The worst thing is that I'm worried that for some reason the other 2 fragments haven't appeared on my map because I'm searching about 80% of the ashes and nothing...
Looks pretty sweer!
They need to upgrade the swords damage, rn It isn't really worth getting besides the fact it looks cool
I assume that since the next biome is going to be the high north, which is most likely going to be ice themed, that the monsters there will be weak against fire.
I assume maxed out mistwalker will be fairly dominant given that it has frost and spirit dmg bonuses
i really was hoping for a upgrade fore the black marble hammer cuz thats my fave one
Honestly the Dywnwyn most like became craftable this update because Its been in the game since Day 1 it just hasnt been craftable. And making it craftable with the Ashlands makes the most sense. Fire biome - Fire sword.
you should be able to craft a 2 handed version of it doing 200 damage, 10 fire damage, and at max lv 220 damage and 50 fire damage.
The 1 handed version should do base lvl 1 150 damage and 10 fire damage and at max lv, 170 damage and 30 fire damage
Some weapons are just there to brag about having them.
And yet you can spawn them in
They put in mistwalker for a reason prob one of the better weps to start out in ashlands. im stitting here thinking jade mace would be best? blunt and cc? how are people feeling about it i play with a few people and we have been mulling over what would be best to build. Honestly i think it depends on the enemy and if you bring multiple weps, for myself bow, mace shield and a 2h all with multiple effects would be best i think but ive also heard some people say magic is clutch. I think it would be cool after we get the deep north and ocean bio to add a 10th boss thats like a sky monster that circles the root tree. I love this game and i cant wait to see what they have for us next!
I just switched to mage yeah it's not as strong and can be one shotted but with the new wind cape my death rate dropped significantly I can solo run again now and survive
How did you get the Blackforge to +5? Should only be +4 with the Blackforge cooler, metal cutter, and gem cutter
you're missing the vice, it takes mechanical springs
@@MattC2300 Thank you!
would've been nicer to add in a unique armor set as well that makes the ashlands a walk in the park allowing us to walk on lava :P
Dyrnwyn seems to have longer reach than other swords. Is it really so?
Its more complicated and harder to get rather than the other where you can just craft them so i would also assume that it should do something special, they should buff it like a ramping up dmg as long as you are hitting the same target or faster attacking speed or infinite stacking burning damage as long as you aer hitting enemies with the sword. That sword is kinda lame but atleast it looks cool
I also think the Dyrnwyn isn't epic enough. They should have made the fire damage more special, or maybe make the enemy under the burning effect explode on death. Or maybe add fire resistance on the sword (or lava resistance).
So you can only get one drynwyn in a world?
Thanks FireSpark, thinking exactly the same. There should really be something more special to it, like more Fire Damage, or adding AoE damage or using less stamina or something else like that…
So much effort for a Sword that just isn't that good..
120 slash and 10 fire damage as a base? Against everything thats made of fire?
Where as Nidhogg just has 135 Slash? Feels like alot of effort for something to put on a wall..
SURE it will be good for the Deep North whenever they release that in 2 years or whatever, but it'll quickly get replaced by THAT biomes weapons
Frostner was relevant for quite some time
How's this going to jive with multiplayer..
are mistlands weapon finally can be maxxed out?
yes they can be maxed out with the upgrades you get in the ashlands
They buff the proc rate from 15 to 20%
Should drop magma at tue feet of the target
Yus
so how do we get the third part ?
the same as the first one. once i found the rune in the putrid cave i went to the location it showed. that location had another rune leading to the next piece. at the second alter was another rune leading to the boss cave. each location has a piece
@@reapinglegend6644 ah i see.
I found the first altar in the wilds by coincidence.
Thanks.
I agree, for how insanely difficult dyrnwyn was to collect, and make, it's pretty bad, or maybe it's bugged? And stuck at lvl 2?
hopefully there will be more content to allow upgrading of the dyrnwyn and i also hope more biomes for exemple an under-water biome, sky biome revolving around yggdrasil roots, heck there might be a way to have a void biome who knows. sick game, can't wait to play valheim again in the next days.
Dyrnwyn was recently buffed
This video and the info in it was pulled from last patch
Did this on Thursday on my vanilla World and ran into the hilt first and didn't find it confusing at all .. maybe play the game and not cheat your way around the world as actually playing the game promotes more thinking and situational awareness. Compared to God mode .... also all stats where changed Friday morning so your info is already outdated before your video even aired .
Dyrwyn pronounce is perfect
Niddhog as well, its pronunced "Need hog"
No sure why you added the sound effects, but ill be finding someone else for valheim videos.
So far I'm finding whole ashlands update rather disappointing. It feels like, in full kit, you're running around the plains without armor where most things can 2 shot you from over 200 health and many things can just one-shot you. Overhanging cliff difficulty curves aren't challenging - they are boring because everything is such a painful grind. The difficulty plus the death penalty are going to be too much for all but the most obsessed players IMO. Mistlands was on the edge of this issue, Ashlands steps well over the line and it's where 99.9% of the players will stop playing the game if they leave it as it stands. I have the same beef with the current bosses - they aren't "hard" - they're a grind.
Yeah the bosses are pretty boring. I do like bonemass as whilst he's hard initially, you learn that you can easily bait out attacks and most of the fight is swinging two full combos and then dodging. Or cleaning up adds. The Queen is a literal chore though, especially when playing solo and as melee.
It is one of the farthest biomes for a reason
Does the fire sword at least give off light like a torch? That would make it a decent utility pick if you wanted to go farm some dark areas like burial chambers
Yes, a little better than a torch.
