Which is why it's a shame that third parties have to fill this incredible void within Power BI. Honestly, if you think about it, take the KPI by Powerviz visual (it's all javascript) and slap it on top of Postgres and an open-source semantic model. Now you legitimately have a Power BI competitor for like $1/month/user. Pretty compelling... I mean, pay $10/user/month or tens of thousands of dollars a year for bad visuals or a couple k per year for good visuals. Just saying...

Think Corporate Pyramid and OPM Financing. Those near the top are very adept at working Other People's Money for their own needs. I see this often in showpiece apps presented in show biz Innovation Centers / Centers of Excellence. If only to allow photographing top execs for Fortune and Business Week puffery.

I usually steer clear of custom reports, but I always value your opinion, so I’m willing to give it a shot!

@777tmack I'm with you, I have generally avoided custom visuals, but this one makes so much sense to me. It has all the flexibility of Deneb without any code. It's one thing to learn versus the endless quirks between core Power BI visuals. I wish Microsoft had this kind of vision, but alas, they seem to be entirely incapable of having a single decent thought when it comes to visualization. Fabric is more important apparently because it does less for fewer people than actually demonstrating thought leadership for things the majority of people care about. It's too bad, really.

    Thanks for this video!
Dark mode is still buggy, after I worked very long on a visual, using conditionsl formatting on every element on different measures, changing a colour to 100% transparent made the whole visual crash.
Only fix was default mode and a restart of computer and redid the visual. (3rd time)
In Miguel’s defence, saw two of his presentations, and a lot of what the community wants from Core visuals he already has some great mockups, but his budget restraints delays those rollouts by years (as per him)

The visual i worked on, was just the background of another visual, the scatterplot. I had to use one visual behind another visual just to dynamically update the colours of the 4 quadrants.

You should revisit that video series and redo the hacks.
      Will be great content
