@zachpercival9464 , it is very difficult to enter this market by car. On the Moscow ring road there is a traffic jam in 6 rows for 20-30 minutes. Although there are only five lanes. Even the global reconstruction of the interchange in this place did not help much.
Not sure whether direct flights are available due to sanctions, but you can buy tickets to Turkey and then cheaply fly to Moscow or wherever you want. To be honest, I'm happy that more guys from USA can visit Russia. You can see our country and other guys too. Maybe someone from cinema-industry, after visit our country, will decide to stop filming Russians as bad guys 😅😅😅😅
This place looks from another world! Nothing like this in the UK. Any marketplaces in UK and London are fairly small. Even wholesale markets look tiny in comparison. What's really good about this place is that it is very very spacious, lots of room for everyone and very big pathways, so the place doesn't get too crowded even though there's 9000 shops!!!!
Such big markets are a legacy of the poor 90's, it's not something to be envied. When the Soviet economy collapsed, goods began to be imported and sold by small wholesalers. Food products were sold in kiosks (and you could buy alcohol and cigarettes in kiosks without showing id, even children could buy). Cheap clothes, small household appliances started to be sold in small markets. Usually shipping containers were placed in rows, goods were loaded into them and a spontaneous market was created. The sellers did not have any cash registers, did not pay taxes, everything was in a gray zone and controlled by organized crime. Then in the 2000s came civilized trade, which Russell now shows in his videos. Now everything is slowly migrating online. And the Sadovod market is the peak of trade development in the 90s. There used to be a big market at the Luzhniki stadium. The man who owned it was a dollar billionaire. Then the mayor's office decided to remove this market (and a few others like it) from the city center and Sadovod market appeared. In general, it is such a monument to the 90s. People who want to buy the cheapest things buy on it. Mostly Turkish and Chinese goods.

Хотя основной криминал пытался зацепиться около станции метро "Люблино". Даже название появилось "Люблезон". Но там было несколько нехороших историй с мигрантами и "Люблезон" почистили, но не до конца. Эхо 90х. Наследие той золотой эпохи когда в России "была свобода и демократия". Черкизон на весь мир гремел. Думаю, что даже на английском можно найти информацию. Турция, арабы, центральная Азия, Кавказ точно про Черкизон знают )))
@@margo7059 Может быть я неправ, но вроде бы и "Черкизон" и "Лужа" принадлежали Тельману Исмаилову, большому другу Лужкова. Их всех примерно в одно время сплавили подальше из центра. Про Черкизон не стал писать, поскольку для иностранца это название ни о чем не говорит. Метро Люблино хорошо знаю много лет, рассказы про страшный криминал в этом районе сильно преувеличены. Уже много лет ничего такого, район как район.

Помните даже марш таджиков был с требованиями их защитить на Люблезоне и рассказами, что полиция бездействует? Ещё какие-то скандалы со съемом жилья в том районе были одно время. В 90 х же там вроде ничего не было, проблемы именно после переезда рынка с Черкизово. Насчёт Исмаилова и "Лужи" не знаю. Но я была на излёте на этих рынках. На "Луже" мне продавцы говорили, что не имеют отношения к Черкизону. И атмосфера, и поведение продавцов очень сильно отличались Да и представить на Луже подземный город со своими коммуникациями я не могу. Но ликвидировали рынки да, примерно в одно время. Лужники как-то спокойно зачистили, а вот с Черкизоном основной вой и был. Может Исмаилов через подставных Лужники держал 🤔

Was in a smaller market like this outside of Moscow - even that was amazing with the quality of the items as compared to what is in the US, absolutely would shop there over 95% of US stores.
I really agree with you. In America, things are of terrible quality. I myself am from Russia, I came to visit, there is one synthetic in stores, the same on Amazon. A huge amount of synthetics and artificial leather.
Some ten years ago, an old well-dressed Korean gentleman approached me on a parking lot in Tagansky district... he asked repeatedly in broken English, "where is the fish? where is the falcon?" Slowly, I understood that he was looking for the old pet market (птичий рынок) that was closed in 2001 and relocated to Sadovod. I carefully gave him and his Russian guide directions ... but suspected that they won't find it. I'm afraid he was lost there forever in between fake Vuittons and shawarma stands...
О да. Я еще застала то время, когда птичий рынок был возле Таганской. Мы с подругой ездили туда посмотреть на животных, для нас это был как бесплатный зоопарк. Там же я взяла с рук блохастого щенка (помесь лабрадора) и привезла домой. Родители согласились и щенок остался дома, наша самая любимая собака Джерри. Он умер в 2010 году 😢

Did sanctions work? Definitely not! This place is huge. You will probably need a couple of days to discover everything. Personally to big for me. 9500 vendors is a huge amount...damn. While the west take pride in their sanctions, that hurt them more Russia is absolutely thriving in abundance. Cheap as well. This video should leave a bitter taste in some westerners mouth as for those who are informed...this place is much much more than a gas station with nukes. How naive one must be to believe such nonsense. But as they say jealousy makes you nasty. Russia is an example to many countries. Lots of love to that wonderful place. Russia for ever. ❤ 🇷🇺

There is a chance to buy something in twice cheaper than in regular shops. However, I don't like this place due to many migrants who not gentle enough.
This is the best part of it! I started with online-shopping like 15 y.ago (via paper cataloques), but now after covid I prefer to go to the small shops and markets, where you can communicate with a seller.
Living in Moscow i avoid visiting such gloomy places.. But... I've been too many times to Sadovod for some reasons)) By the way, there is a large shopping complex MEGA across the road, which is more pleasant place! Also, there is an exhibition of wooden houses!!

my mom, she is 70 likes to do 2-3 times a year shopping in Sadovod))) She bought curtains there for three apartments. The same quality as in fancy stores but at least 5 times cheaper))) She saved me lots of money on that. she buys stuff for her granddaughters, my kids, there since in departments stores we either sometimes can't find something or our size (they are tall but slim), or it is very expensive, f.e. buch of socks, woolen socks, underwear etc., beautiful brick a bracks for them, stuff for hair)))

Рассел был на Садоводе😂 какая прелесть, была там последней раз в 2017 году. Сейчас так лень куда ездить, лень даже по магазинам ходить. Но после этого видео захотелось туда поехать, тем более что я недалеко живу, в 20 минутах езды на автобусе😂🎉
I have NEVER seen anything like this in the USA. These appear to be wholesale dealers??? That they actually would sell to the public a single item is surprising. I shopped what we call "factory outlets" over 40 years in Pennsylvania but today most are gone. They sold "seconds" to the public. Imperfect goods. Most are gone as the factories are now in other countries. The factory outlets that exist are basically fake. I would definitely like to shop there!!!

WOW! Mega-thanks Russels for this very interesting "window shopping" experience at Sadovod shopping complex! Would be nice to visit Moscow again at long last - I don't believe Sadovod was there 50 years ago (1973) when I travelled on the Transiberian Rway en route to China. Incidentally, Riga Central Market (Tirgus) in Riga, Latvia is said to be Europe's largest shopping complex (sic.!). It includes 5 pavillions converted from Zeppelin hangars, but at 72 300 square metres it pales in comparison with Sadovod's 1 500 000 square metres. Anyway both are certainly worth a visit or more. And in case of Sadovod, best to have a handful of roubles and a couple suitcases handy!

Там продается много фейков, но в то же время там можно купить довольно качественные вещи, правда за качество вы всё равно не заплатите мало. Что хорошо там можно поторговаться и снизить цену, я скажу там надо торговаться, многие продавцы это любят. Как это обычно бывает - спрашиваешь цену, говоришь - это дорого, но не уходишь, тогда продавец начинает снижать цену, что ясно показывает на то, что первая цена была завышенной, так что торгуйтесь иначе можете заплатить гораздо выше чем это стоит на самом деле. Местечко конечно то ещё, но многие даже не подозревают, что покупают в других местах вещи именно с этого рынка, только ещё с наценкой перекупщика
Я смотрю, как много людей суетятся вокруг зарабатывания доллара (рубля). Это самая чистая форма того, как устроена экономика внутри России. Каждый зарабатывает деньги так или иначе.

The market is one of the kind. This place is OK when you're not well-off at all or just don't wanna spend extra money at some glitzy shopping mall. All the stuff is largely made in China, Turkey or Kyrgyzstan. Just double-check the quality and it might be a good deal.

First we go to the fancy store, them stores that cheaper, get the prices and then go to Sadovod, where my 70 y.o. mom does the bargaining. She saved my lots of money. Curtains are absurdly expensive in stores.

In any country people have stupid habit to stop in the middle of walking lane, usually right in front of you. They think, that, except them, nobody else exists in this world 🤷♀️
It’s just that in Russia, for us, the New Year is the most important holiday of the year for which we start at the beginning of November and plan to make purchases until the 30th of December. They simply appear on the markets earlier at the end of October. In a week there will be a lot of people there already buying these Christmas tree decorations, etc. This is an important holiday for us, I think you have understood this after being in Russia for so long. Even in October, we begin to plan what will be on the table and buy food a couple of days before the New Year. We are planning some events or where we will celebrate; many people are renting summer houses with saunas and making lists of friends whom they will invite. People on New Year's Day can visit dozens of friends and events and festivities we run from December 31st to January 7th, you constantly go somewhere with someone and meet with different campaigns. Therefore, in a month or two, many people begin to prepare and the season for buying Christmas trees and decorations with fireworks and firecrackers opens in mid-November.
For true Middle Eastern vibes in Moscow one must go to the Sevastopol hotel near Sevastopolskaya metro station (south of Moscow). This experience helped me a lot when I visited Oman.

Sadovod is not a market or a shopping center. It is primarily a showroom for different vendors. The most of stuff is then shipped to other places over Russia.
But every vendor or stall as things i could walk up to and buy. I can see a lot of was being packaged up for on sale somewhere else. There was still a lot of everyday shoppers there.
Забавный факт: этот рынок на самом деле находится на Сатурне, точнее, видимые кольца Сатурна - это и есть "Садовод" с тысячами магазинов. Во всяком случае, это именно так в сериале "Кибердеревня", 1 сезон, 4 и 5 серии. 😁
I never was there, it's too far from me you know. Moreover, I think if you want to buy there something specific you should kill a whole day for that :) It's just a city inside of a city. Some sellers are literally live there! Alex from Govorovo.
It was about 2 hours for me to get there from Aprelevka. 1 local bus, then 3 metro trains and then the final bus to Sadavod. It's a nice day out though, plus i had a nice lunch in a cafe there as well.

В молодости пыталась покупать одежду на рынках. Чтобы выбрать куртку на Черкизовском, надо было протопать километра 3 и потратить часа 2. Сейчас не хожу в такие места ни за чем. Еще я не люблю и не умею торговаться. Я сначала изучаю ассортимент в интернете, потом иду в ближайший магазин/молл за конкретной вещью. А в таком месте я потеряюсь, устану и мне всучат что-нибудь втридорога.

I've been there with my wife once. I know the place. It's a little hard to film in that place though. We went there in search of nail salon supplies. There even a room where the guy was only door hinges and door handles.
Love Russia! This is an Asian-style market -- a marvelous Asian-style market. Dongdaemun (East Main Gate) Market in Seoul: 30,000 shops. If you ask around a bit, I bet you'll find they have a dawn market (opening anytime from 4 to 6 AM) -- an 'off-retail' shopping time because it's the 'wholesale' market for the entire country where retailera come to get their gear (real 'gear', not the UK euphymism for drugs).
I've only been there twice and one was recently. I’m not a fan of buying clothes where it’s impossible to try them on privately, but I bought a baseball cap from a 47 brand of excellent quality there. it would be cool to meet you there!

i normally dont watch " mall " videos, but this one i could actually walk around in, and from what i saw outside there might be some of the stuff i wanna get.
There is no digital ID cards in Russia (while there is discussions about), so the passport remains the most important document of Russian citizen. Generally issued upon growing to 14 years old. Get replaced for free at 40 years old, and, if I remember it right, at 60. At other occasions (if you loose it or, for example, change your name) you must reissue your passport and pay a toll for the procedure (not much but still). This is why most people prefer to cover their passports for better safe. And you can also carry some small things inside. Driving licence or something alike.

Here in Kansas we can barely keep shops with 10 stores open. Lol.
I have been to similar malls in Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan. Post soviet countries all have similar arrangements

Was in a smaller market like this outside of Moscow - even that was amazing with the quality of the items as compared to what is in the US, absolutely would shop there over 95% of US stores.

I really agree with you. In America, things are of terrible quality. I myself am from Russia, I came to visit, there is one synthetic in stores, the same on Amazon. A huge amount of synthetics and artificial leather.

Some ten years ago, an old well-dressed Korean gentleman approached me on a parking lot in Tagansky district... he asked repeatedly in broken English, "where is the fish? where is the falcon?" Slowly, I understood that he was looking for the old pet market (птичий рынок) that was closed in 2001 and relocated to Sadovod. I carefully gave him and his Russian guide directions ... but suspected that they won't find it. I'm afraid he was lost there forever in between fake Vuittons and shawarma stands...

О да. Я еще застала то время, когда птичий рынок был возле Таганской. Мы с подругой ездили туда посмотреть на животных, для нас это был как бесплатный зоопарк. Там же я взяла с рук блохастого щенка (помесь лабрадора) и привезла домой. Родители согласились и щенок остался дома, наша самая любимая собака Джерри. Он умер в 2010 году 😢

Did sanctions work? Definitely not! This place is huge. You will probably need a couple of days to discover everything. Personally to big for me. 9500 vendors is a huge amount...damn. While the west take pride in their sanctions, that hurt them more Russia is absolutely thriving in abundance. Cheap as well. This video should leave a bitter taste in some westerners mouth as for those who are informed...this place is much much more than a gas station with nukes. How naive one must be to believe such nonsense. But as they say jealousy makes you nasty. Russia is an example to many countries. Lots of love to that wonderful place. Russia for ever. ❤ 🇷🇺

There is a chance to buy something in twice cheaper than in regular shops.

This is the best part of it! I started with online-shopping like 15 y.ago (via paper cataloques), but now after covid I prefer to go to the small shops and markets, where you can communicate with a seller.
Living in Moscow i avoid visiting such gloomy places.. But... I've been too many times to Sadovod for some reasons))
By the way, there is a large shopping complex MEGA across the road, which is more pleasant place!
Also, there is an exhibition of wooden houses!!

my mom, she is 70 likes to do 2-3 times a year shopping in Sadovod))) She bought curtains there for three apartments. The same quality as in fancy stores but at least 5 times cheaper))) She saved me lots of money on that. she buys stuff for her granddaughters, my kids, there since in departments stores we either sometimes can't find something or our size (they are tall but slim), or it is very expensive, f.e. buch of socks, woolen socks, underwear etc., beautiful brick a bracks for them, stuff for hair)))

Рассел был на Садоводе😂 какая прелесть, была там последней раз в 2017 году. Сейчас так лень куда ездить, лень даже по магазинам ходить. Но после этого видео захотелось туда поехать, тем более что я недалеко живу, в 20 минутах езды на автобусе😂🎉

I have NEVER seen anything like this in the USA. These appear to be wholesale dealers??? That they actually would sell to the public a single item is surprising. I shopped what we call "factory outlets" over 40 years in Pennsylvania but today most are gone. They sold "seconds" to the public. Imperfect goods. Most are gone as the factories are now in other countries. The factory outlets that exist are basically fake. I would definitely like to shop there!!!

WOW! Mega-thanks Russels for this very interesting "window shopping" experience at Sadovod shopping complex! Would be nice to visit Moscow again at long last - I don't believe Sadovod was there 50 years ago (1973) when I travelled on the Transiberian Rway en route to China. Incidentally, Riga Central Market (Tirgus) in Riga, Latvia is said to be Europe's largest shopping complex (sic.!). It includes 5 pavillions converted from Zeppelin hangars, but at 72 300 square metres it pales in comparison with Sadovod's 1 500 000 square metres. Anyway both are certainly worth a visit or more. And in case of Sadovod, best to have a handful of roubles and a couple suitcases handy!
They have huge parking, you can actually park a car closer to gates 😄

Там продается много фейков, но в то же время там можно купить довольно качественные вещи, правда за качество вы всё равно не заплатите мало. Что хорошо там можно поторговаться и снизить цену, я скажу там надо торговаться, многие продавцы это любят. Как это обычно бывает - спрашиваешь цену, говоришь - это дорого, но не уходишь, тогда продавец начинает снижать цену, что ясно показывает на то, что первая цена была завышенной, так что торгуйтесь иначе можете заплатить гораздо выше чем это стоит на самом деле. Местечко конечно то ещё, но многие даже не подозревают, что покупают в других местах вещи именно с этого рынка, только ещё с наценкой перекупщика

The market is one of the kind. This place is OK when you're not well-off at all or just don't wanna spend extra money at some glitzy shopping mall. All the stuff is largely made in China, Turkey or Kyrgyzstan. Just double-check the quality and it might be a good deal.

This is a great place for getting budget/cheap stuff. Obviously not a boutique like GUM on the Red Square:) but definitely serves the purpose where you can buy whatever you need and much cheaper :)

There are separate lines with brands there. Many boutiques and stylists buy stuff there. It's all brand, just without authentication.

In any country people have stupid habit to stop in the middle of walking lane, usually right in front of you. They think, that, except them, nobody else exists in this world 🤷♀️
It’s just that in Russia, for us, the New Year is the most important holiday of the year for which we start at the beginning of November and plan to make purchases until the 30th of December. They simply appear on the markets earlier at the end of October. In a week there will be a lot of people there already buying these Christmas tree decorations, etc. This is an important holiday for us, I think you have understood this after being in Russia for so long. Even in October, we begin to plan what will be on the table and buy food a couple of days before the New Year. We are planning some events or where we will celebrate; many people are renting summer houses with saunas and making lists of friends whom they will invite. People on New Year's Day can visit dozens of friends and events and festivities we run from December 31st to January 7th, you constantly go somewhere with someone and meet with different campaigns. Therefore, in a month or two, many people begin to prepare and the season for buying Christmas trees and decorations with fireworks and firecrackers opens in mid-November.

For true Middle Eastern vibes in Moscow one must go to the Sevastopol hotel near Sevastopolskaya metro station (south of Moscow). This experience helped me a lot when I visited Oman.

Моя мама с подружкой каждые выходные на Черкизон гоняла пройтись как развлекуха, даже без покупок, а потом его перенесли к нам почти домой)) Теперь на маршрутке за 20 минут доехать можно от дома, только теперь тоже на нем бываю раз в 2-3 года, приезжаю именно понастальгировать)
Там ходить сутками можно. И как у Рассела терпения хватило)))

Sadovod is not a market or a shopping center. It is primarily a showroom for different vendors. The most of stuff is then shipped to other places over Russia.
But every vendor or stall as things i could walk up to and buy. I can see a lot of was being packaged up for on sale somewhere else. There was still a lot of everyday shoppers there.

I never was there, it's too far from me you know. Moreover, I think if you want to buy there something specific you should kill a whole day for that :) It's just a city inside of a city. Some sellers are literally live there! Alex from Govorovo.
It was about 2 hours for me to get there from Aprelevka. 1 local bus, then 3 metro trains and then the final bus to Sadavod. It's a nice day out though, plus i had a nice lunch in a cafe there as well.

В молодости пыталась покупать одежду на рынках. Чтобы выбрать куртку на Черкизовском, надо было протопать километра 3 и потратить часа 2. Сейчас не хожу в такие места ни за чем. Еще я не люблю и не умею торговаться.
Я сначала изучаю ассортимент в интернете, потом иду в ближайший магазин/молл за конкретной вещью. А в таком месте я потеряюсь, устану и мне всучат что-нибудь втридорога.

Russell, have you been to the market in Sevastopol shopping center? It's a truly oriental bazaar in the South of Moscow, where each shop is located in a former hotel room, entire 16 stories full of market shops
I've been there with my wife once. I know the place. It's a little hard to film in that place though. We went there in search of nail salon supplies. There even a room where the guy was only door hinges and door handles.

Love Russia! This is an Asian-style market -- a marvelous Asian-style market. Dongdaemun (East Main Gate) Market in Seoul: 30,000 shops. If you ask around a bit, I bet you'll find they have a dawn market (opening anytime from 4 to 6 AM) -- an 'off-retail' shopping time because it's the 'wholesale' market for the entire country where retailera come to get their gear (real 'gear', not the UK euphymism for drugs).

Никогда не видела йогурты в трехлитровых ведрах и сыр маскарпоне в 1 кг весом и килограмовое рафаэло. Как в Алисе в стране чудес оказалась. Подруга из США сказала, что это как в Америке.

Get replaced for free at 40 years old, and, if I remember it right, at 60. At other occasions (if you loose it or, for example, change your name) you must reissue your passport and pay a toll for the procedure (not much but still). This is why most people prefer to cover their passports for better safe. And you can also carry some small things inside. Driving licence or something alike.
