I love this track. The excitement and growing sense of anticipation, the instrumental passage reflecting the journey, the movement of the train and the travellers mind sometimes reflecting back but the thrill of being free, over coming any doubts. I also love the image of him jumping out and running down one of the St Pancras platforms at the end.
So many good songs from this band and so many memories. This song struck a chord as I used St Pancras a lot in the seventies. Always hummed it to myself as I arrived. Sad but true.
Boots 'N' Roots, Leroy, Boom Bang and this one are all equally good tracks from 'Its Only A Movie'. A very underrated British band capable of diverse genre references and musical arrangements. The first 3 tracks I mentioned span Americana, Country, Soul, Jazz and Rock - and it all worked seamlessly.
wow, never thought I'd hear this one again. what a great song. still sounds fresh today. this one and Leroy are the best. rest of the album, still doesn't work for me. but thanks for posting!
Fact is, as I recall, there was a train to St Pancras 'at that time' that didn't stop and took a bit more than an hour. Time to get on one at half ten in the am, be in Kings Rd by lunchtime, buy a bit of gear (Suuth Sea Bubble, for example) and back home by five for tea and the pink 'un. Nice One.
No, because he was only on two albums. No one says the albums before he joined were bad. I think it's because the more commercial direction they went in.
One of the most underrated bands from the progressive british underground of the 70´s... Lovely
Only one world.... A MASTERPIECE!!!!! ONE OF THE FEW GOOD SONGS IN THIS UNDERRATED ALBUM FOR AN UNDERRATED BAND.
My favourite track on this underrated album.

Very great band, and the best song of the album
Love that instrumental passage...
Totally agree 8 years later, best track in my opinion.God bless Chapp etc. Charlie hope all is well in Lesbos.
At last ! Thank you very much for posting this song. One of the best songs on the album ! Can't believe it is nearly thirty years old !!

Great Song.
I remember this from Scott's Hd farm NSW , hippy surfing life , 45+ years ago

just brill
@teaforto1 nearly forty years, sir! Certainly an ace song, always been a strong favourite for me :-)
The piano and hammond organ throughout this great album (and some vocals, especially on "Sweet Desiree", which he wrote,) are by Tony Ashton..
any relation?
@@duncanparsons Well, his wife was named Sandra. It's lovely piano, too.
Family is consistently underrated. I'd put them up with Gentle Giant as terribly overlooked
I play this song at least once a week in the car

Is that a young Tony Blackburn slinging the guns in the still shot there? Bless him for his work ethic if it was thus (LOL).
Who plays piano in the middle eight ? That insistent orchestral build up to the 'steam whistle. Wow.
+Gregor Ritchie That is the late, great Tony Ashton
My favourite track from what is often regarded as a poor album."Poor album my arse!"
its familys weakest album but not a poor album
They lost John Wetton to King Crimson, so it's no surprise if people say it's not such a good album.
