I've never noticed this in a person before. When he looks at his wife in other videos, he looks like the way she feels about him - he is sexy, warm, attentive and a mixture of vulnerable and strongly holding space - just like a husband should be. When he looks at his daughter, his whole face is this kind, playful, loving, consistent presence - just like a dad should be. It's like two different people in one. What a beautiful thing to witness and what a lucky pair these two are.
I can totally understand how Ben feels as he told us in the other video. Naiya is just a little child so she doesn't understand and there's nothing to blame her for but it must be difficult as a parent to feel that lack of attention to you. I'm sure it will get better over time, seeing how Ben truly loves her. This is a great family I wish nothing but happiness to the 4 of them
@@lakep7798 i kinda dont feel bad because small children are hardwired to have to be with their mom. when they are 15 its gonna be daddy time till the rest of his life because hes such a cool dad
I wonder if Ben's struggle to get Naiya to connect and bond is the reason he pushed so hard for another baby even though Sida wasn't really on board. I know he said that he is worried that it will be a three person club with him being left out but I can tell he is secretly hoping this new baby will be his chance to have is own club, to be chosen. I hope he is right because the hurt on his face is soul crushing.
I'm pretty sure Ben will be ok with his amazing family. I mean we're talking about a tiny little girl! Geeez give her a few more years. It's so funny how people are assuming or feeling sad and bad for Ben over this dumb reaction that was created by people who don't even know this family! It is fascinating watching and listening to how weird ppl are! Lol
You can see that Ben was trying so hard to connect with Naiya. No matter how hard he tries, or how patient and gentle he is, Naiya just keeps choosing Sidra over him. I think it comes full circle considering the rough relationship Sidra had with her mother, and now to see Naiya choosing Sidra and how close they are. Like things are made right this time for Sidra. It's miraculous how things turn out.
Yeah! I watched te interview of Ben mentioning the duo between them and how sometimes he feels left out. But i do believe Ben will be the best father and Naya is going to love her father.
Well because Sidra is so open .. it was so easy for Naiya to find everything she wants with her mother (her first experience in life) so she feel content belonging with her mother that her father is alienated. Now if her mother wasn't that open, raw, and present this experience would be so different. I had a different experience as my mother had pregnancy depression and she didn't want children and we end up closer to our dads growing up; though we crave her closeness because it was a void never filled. I don't say Ben isn't close or isn't good, it is just needs more of Sidra to encourage Nayia to open up with her dad and give them time to flourish. It is important to bring balance in the world of a clingy child.
CeriCat somedays my kids are all about me and can't leave my side and sometimes they're all about dad. She's way too little for us to judge her intentions or motives.
Claire Erin i dont think its that....i think its the tone ben speaks to her like shes little...and he just seems to not understand....she seems to have the eq of a 20 yr old ..everytime he repears some thing and talks to her slow she triws to lighten the mood and break him out of "dad mode" she wants to connect to him too
I feel so bad seeing that thinly veiled expression of exclusion on Ben’s face, even acknowledging the obvious adoration and love he has for her, which in fact seems to make her favoring her mother hurt all the more. However, I do believe that when baby #2 arrives, Sidra’s switch from wholly focusing on Naiya to focusing moreso on the newborn will even things out in that Naiya will probably seek more interaction and closeness with her father. However, no matter what happens, one of the two children quite likely will take to Ben which should ease that feeling of exclusion. Ben, I absolutely love watching your family and your beautiful relationship with Sidra grow and evolve, every step of said evolution as beautiful as the last. I wish your family all the best! Good vibes and love your way!
You make a very valid point about a second child evening out the attention response, kids will grow competitive for love and admiration. I did feel a bit of pain seeing his open heart, and her preference more towards her mother. That would hurt me personally as a parent.
Man...watching this kind of devastated me :/ You can see that Ben is exhausting himself emotionally by trying to open up a channel of emotional connection with his daughter and she's just not there yet. Even though he's an educated guy that can still be hard to rationalise and still be a very bitter pill to swallow, especially when it's evident how much he adores her and wants to connect with her. I'm sure she'll come around when she's older but dang, this video hurt my heart a bit. And she looks so much like him! Hopefully he'll have a more fulfilling relationship with the second baby
Same here. My heart was breaking watching him try to have even this small conversation with her and all she wanted was her mom. It adds so much more depth to the previous video when he talked about feeling left out.
Lol poor Ben! I can see why he feels left out from this. I was like that with my mom as a young child, but became much closer with my father as I grew old
She’s definitely a mommies girl for now. That may change when the baby comes because Sidra will have to spend more time with the baby. That’s where you come in to help balance things out. One of them will definitely take to you like a duck to water. Your an amazing father and husband keep up the good work.
EXACTLY! Thank you for saying that too! People are so dramatic and only wanting to find flaws it seems, in what appears to be an amazing family all around!
The way his eyes light up everytime she says Daddy...such beautiful moments :) Love this whole family! The bond between a father and daughter might come later, but I can promise you that it can develop to be just as strong as the bond Naiya feels with her mother. :)
so sweet, but I undertand what Ben meant now when he said he felt left out lol! All she did was whisper to Sidra infront of him! haha but the closeness is beautiful and Ben is awesome when she gets older she will be allot more open with him as well!
Don't let all these crazy females influence you! There's nothing to be sad about!!! You can tell this family is SO HAPPY even I they never had any kids! They're intelligent, gorgeous, appear stable and healthy and totally in love! Go Ben!!! I bet he's a very happy guy!!
I love Ben's answer about the super power! In the previous video he talked about her creativity and him talking about her showing others the way she sees the world was so beautiful. He's knows her well and is such a loving father.
It warms my heart when she says, “Daddy.” I hope my future kids have a father like him. I’m too afraid of mine, but my kids need a loving, nurturing father in every part of their lives.
Omg the mom thing really killed me ! I do wonder what drives Naiya to like her mom so much, growing up my sisters and I never had a favorite. I was always daddys girl but respected and loved my mom equally
I 100% understand that heartbreaking moment. Been feeling it for so long I forgot the complexity of that rejection. It’s really difficult to watch! My heart goes out to him!
ive seen kids like this and watched them grow up into cold, rude icey women with zero respect for their parents ...I think this kid has ice cold eyes ...but will respect her mother
Naiya is gorgeous, smart and cool little girl, thanks for sharing her with us for a moment, Ben and Sidra! As for which parent she prefers which seems to have become the main topic of dicsussion here, I would say while it's obvious she is a mommy's girl for now, it's also obvious that she has a strong bond with both parents and most importantly, that both parents have strong bond between themselves. It's a tough balance, but I can see how these two are managing to stay connected and ride it out because, in the end, it's just a phase. Kids grow up and things even out and I would say 2 to 4 is the hardest age, especially for children who are a little clingy. Ben and Sidra, keep spreading the love because it is only love I see in these videos and in the air around you. You three, soon to be four, are truly special!
Aww Ben is such a sweet loving dad... He's doing an excellent job and his daughter will realize & appreciate that so much in a few years. She'll remember everything, nothing that's happening right now is a waste. Naiya is very lucky. All the best to this family ❤
For some reason I think the mom is liking the attention from her daughter and the fact that she is the "favourite" parent and ofcourse I understand that. But as a mother in this position, I would ask my child to spend the time with her dad and that sometimes mommy takes a step back and lets dad be the parent and spend quality time with his daughter.
She clearly loves her Dad but she has a special bond with her mom and she acts just like a hyper, toddler version of her. If she's already a handful now, Ben and Sidra are going to exhausted rustling keeping TWO mini-mes once the baby is born. Things would be REALLY interesting if it's a boy. Maybe then, Ben will have his own special bond with his offspring.
aw ben! I was the same with my mom when I was really little, but for whatever reason I grew closer to my dad as I got older and I'm 22 now and have been a daddys girl since I was about 5! He was also one of my soccer coaches for many years and used to drive me to school every morning, and I cherish those moments so much.
I feel as though the face-to-face seating arrangement didn't quite work out in this particular video. I wonder if the Skin Deep could create a slightly different setting for asking questions of young kids? As always, I love seeing glimpses of this beautiful family as they change and grow
Simone Froley true. It’s easy for kids to feel isolated when sitting alone opposite someone- parent or not- they’ll end up reaching for safety. Safety looked like closeness with her mom...I’m sure there were lots of ppl around recording, doing sound etc which might have made closeness to her mom even more important. Breastfeeding is also something that yields lots of closeness to a mom so depending how long she’s been being breastfed, night also be something that creates the mom-attachment. All of it is normal. Ben was right, she did great. Kids are their own personalities, I’m sure they’ll balance things out ...so much love to them
Agreed. They should have them do an activity together. Like play with playdough, build something, paint something, mix cookie dough, etc. while asking the questions when the kids are so young. Do something like play therapy.
Not sure if anyone else notices this, but something that stuck out to me here is when Naiya speaks, Ben tries to mouth what she is saying. I find this so interesting because my partner is the most attentive listener and absorbs what I say and retains it better than anyone else I’ve personally met, and he also does this with his mouth as well. I wonder if there is some sort of link in this behavior! Absolutely love Ben and Sidra and their little family. So happy to have found their videos!
Love this family. So raw and real and beautiful. Sidra and Ben thank you for making these videos and letting us see your relationship and family grow and change.
He's a great dad! They will have a great relationship, because Ben wants to connect with her and she will see that when she gets older. My dad never even tried to get to know me and now when i'm an adult we barely can talk to each other, mostly because of me- it's like my soul doesn't want him too close and my mind doesn't get why he didn't try harder, why is that now we are strangers... I could ask him,but the answer will not give me a better understanding. So never give up on your children! :)
The comment section is mostly filled with sympathy for the dad, many are even blaming the mom or even the child for the lack of a bond between the child and her dad. I don't think sympathies are in order but the realization that bonds are formed by spending time with that person. When it comes to children that can get tricky since caregivers have to work. That means one or both have to make a monumental effort to spend time with their child (taking care of their needs ect) after a long tiring day and/or very long hours. Previous videos have the mom hesitant on a second child because it takes so much out of her, if responsibilities with the child were shared (which is not often anyone's fault, just circumstance) that wouldn't be the case.
my two grandkids treat me the same way, I feel left out too. I keep telling myself the same thing Ben does is that it will get better when the grow up a little more, but it really hurts right now. It kills me when they push me away and make comments that cuts to the bone. I know they don't know any better. It just hurts.
b where in my comment does it say that I missed any of that? This video is adorable because you can see how much he clearly loves his child, I’m sure he has found certain aspects of it difficult but it is wonderful that he still tries. I think that’s important because not every parent does.
It’s really fascinating to see how much she looks like Ben but acts like/is close to Sidra. I don’t know what their home life looks like, but if Sidra‘s the one who stays at home with her, this bond makes a lot of sense. It’s clear that Naiya and Ben *do* have some games and little inside jokes between them, and I’m sure once she starts going to school and spends more equal time with each of them, she’ll be able to see him as a source of comfort and safety the way she does with Sidra now. Ben, I dunno if you’ll ever read this, but I just want to tell you to keep making yourself available and open to Naiya, because I promise it’ll pay off. I was closer to my mom growing up because she stayed home with me while my dad worked, and I’d still say I’m more comfortable confiding in her than my dad, but I’m sure that wouldn’t have ended up being the case if my dad were more comfortable being emotionally open and available with me. He’s still a wonderful father, and I love him to bits, but watching the way you interact with Naiya makes me wish my dad could’ve done the same with me.
I don’t know, my parents didn’t give me a choice about who I wanted or did not want. I knew both were my primary caregivers. Seems sidra could help out here by not running whenever her daughter demands. She was fine doing the interview with her father.
It's normal for children at this age to be closer to their mother than their father; specially little girls. Don't worry about him, he's doing a fantastic job and she'll definitely see how lucky she is and how much her daddy loves her.
Maybe try to take care of ur daughter alone for 2 daysm and let the mummy rest. It's like the korean show, return of superman, it really helps the dad and child understand each other and get closer
I think Sidra should tell her to pay attention , I understand that she is just a little girl but is just rude , poor Ben is trying to have a conversation there and she keeps making stupid and enoying noises, nobody said nothing so she keeps thinking that her behaivor is acceptable and is not
@@djrn1621 It's a sign of good parenting to tell your child that they're being rude and to pay attention. You don't have to be disrespectful about it but you can say it.
SIDRA BEN AND NAIYA ARE MY FAVORITE! But I hope you can also do it again for Jazmin and Justin. Theyve got this very unconventional relationship which is intersting. And Taiisiri + Edina too!!!
It's sad that she looks just like her dad but doesn't feel that closeness yet I honestly think it's because we as children need our mothers more when we're very young. As we get older father's become more important. I don't think children are aware of a father's role until they are in need of that type of protection or help. Which for many comes in the teen years.
She is a girl she never will have the same bond she has with her mom then with the dad even as she gets older. IF it was a boy then yes the father will be more.
Eron 1 Did I ever say that? I stated father's become MORE important. More as in more than they were in their early youth. I never even insinuated that children will love their fathers more or that their father will be more necessary (altogether) to their life. However I don't agree with you in all aspects. I am closer with my father due to who my mother is as a person. Even if I'm a female I will never feel that closeness just because she's a female. I do agree though we have a biological inclination to prefer the parent of our gender.
Yeah that's hard to watch. I definitely feel for Ben..the longing for a connection with his daughter, that's just not there...yet, is undeniably soul crushing. Hope this changes in the future between them.🙏🏽
For everyone saying that Naiya isn't connecting well with her dad, have you seen the video of her with her mom when she was younger? She acted pretty much the same way. I can see how Ben feels out of the loop a bit and how Naiya does seem to be favoring her mom, but you have to understand that this is also an uncomfortable situation for a child. It's a strange setting with lots of strangers and cameras and microphones and none of her toys or anything. Sitting her down in that kind of sterile environment and asking questions at 3.5 isn't going to garner such a great response. I have a feeling that if they tried this at home with one camera, she'd probably be able to focus better.
Ben I’m not sure you’ll see this, but keep trying like I’m sure you will. My husband and I have 5 kids and we go through phases where a kid only wants one of us. It’s hard and hurtful but it does get better.
She's like a cute lil' modern gypsy who seems to bring her daddy out of his shell. They seem to compliment and balance each other well, energetically. Her personality seems similiar to her mother's.
First, I love viewing this family. It is hard to see Ben trying so hard to be included in Naiyas attention and her being so attached to Mommy. This will change as the family grows. You can see bits and pieces of your own family dynamic through them.
I think Ben should use his real voice when talking to his daughter, not that soft baby voice. He comes across like he doesn't really know her. His approach seems similar to an uncle or a family friend who only sees the girl occasionally. Weird.
It's just one situation,a bit stressful one for a kid ( studio, strange people focused on her, parents asking serious questions expecting reasonable answers). She might have answered the same questions, just as we adults would expect it but at home, in the safe environment but here....Hello,It's just a child! She probably loves her daddy just as she loves her mum, in some other circumstances she may need her daddy's presence more. It all depends on the situation and as I said ,this one is just one out of many. And the pig noises ? Great,It's ok,that 's what kids do especially when they're feeling uncertain. She'a child not a "small adult".Have a nice day people👍
I wish mom had encouraged their daughter to listen to dad when he was talking... so she can learn to honor daddy’s turn to talk... and he can receive that attention he deserves, too. Mom let her interrupt him and, although she’s young, you could tell she was with it enough to understand these respectful ways of communicating, she just wasn’t being held accountable.
babies and children naturally cling to the mother early on because they're usually the ones feeding them and taking care of them. So they feel safer with mommy. It's not that she don't like dad but I'm sure he's gone alot more than mommy is.
His eyes light up every time she says "Daddy" and it's just the sweetest thing! You can totally tell just how much he loves her
His voice goes so soft when he's talking to her or Sidra. It's so cute. She's a perfect mix of two amazing people.

I agree, they should have a comfy couch with the parent child sat together.
Such a beautiful family . Such loving people . This video is giving me hope that all of us can have a family like that .
wow my heart hurts.. i hope that his connection with her will become stronger once she gets older
I doubt it
He's a great dad! :)
This is so cute! Family goals
This is everything I didn't know I needed. When Sidra said she was amazed how much Naiya looks like Ben I thought she was exaggerating. This is crazy
my two grandkids treat me the same way, I feel left out too. I keep telling myself the same thing Ben does is that it will get better when the grow up a little more, but it really hurts right now. It kills me when they push me away and make comments that cuts to the bone. I know they don't know any better. It just hurts.
I am sat here with the biggest smile on my face, this is the most adorable video!
you really think so ?
b where in my comment does it say that I missed any of that? This video is adorable because you can see how much he clearly loves his child, I’m sure he has found certain aspects of it difficult but it is wonderful that he still tries. I think that’s important because not every parent does.
Evy Courtney yes.
ben needs bonding/alone time with his daughter
She is so grown up!
Hey Ben, I have been in Naiya’s place before and trust me one day she will be there for you! reciprocating with the same emotional quotient as u.. :)
Omggg! Waited so long for theses videos! Thank you skin deep ❤️❤️
They're going to raise a perfect baby, she was born out of pure love!
I don’t know, my parents didn’t give me a choice about who I wanted or did not want. I knew both were my primary caregivers. Seems sidra could help out here by not running whenever her daughter demands. She was fine doing the interview with her father.
Oh GODDD! They are all so beautiful 😍😍😍😍😍
Is Sidra coddling her too much? I mean I don't know, just wondering if that could be why she is so obsessed with mom.
It's normal for children at this age to be closer to their mother than their father; specially little girls. Don't worry about him, he's doing a fantastic job and she'll definitely see how lucky she is and how much her daddy loves her.
Beautiful family. The little girl just melt my heart she's soo beautiful and adorable. She's the cutest thing every I can't Aah.
I love how cute this is and how he speaks
Aww he looks so devastated poor guy. It will get better.
oh my heart ❤️
“When you tell me how you feel, it make an me happy.”Says practically no father ever
well I dont know how I got here...but I love this channel...
Maybe try to take care of ur daughter alone for 2 daysm and let the mummy rest. It's like the korean show, return of superman, it really helps the dad and child understand each other and get closer
omg naiya getting so big!!!😭😍 i love this family
If this is the kind of people we'll be stuck with in the future guys, do not worry, we'll be ok. It's gonna be ok.
something tells me its the mothers fault he feels left out xP "i want mommy now"? has he ever even been left alone with her?
This made me sad
I'm so happy for them
I think Sidra should tell her to pay attention , I understand that she is just a little girl but is just rude , poor Ben is trying to have a conversation there and she keeps making stupid and enoying noises, nobody said nothing so she keeps thinking that her behaivor is acceptable and is not
Ok callmmmm down your response is very disrespectful and rude she’s 3....
Well if anyone would be talking to me the way he does i would also be annoyed and make pig noises...
@@djrn1621 It's a sign of good parenting to tell your child that they're being rude and to pay attention. You don't have to be disrespectful about it but you can say it.
Agree. Especially when she put her finger in her nose. Uhh, let's not sweety!
I couldnt agree more.....shes not receiving any discipline...just doing as she pleases and her rudeness is not being corrected , nor probably ever is
SIDRA BEN AND NAIYA ARE MY FAVORITE! But I hope you can also do it again for Jazmin and Justin. Theyve got this very unconventional relationship which is intersting. And Taiisiri + Edina too!!!
😂😂😂😂😂 - man, this kid makes me laugh, smile, everything.
I do agree though we have a biological inclination to prefer the parent of our gender.
he is and looks warm....the child looks and acts icey cold
Yeah that's hard to watch. I definitely feel for Ben..the longing for a connection with his daughter, that's just not there...yet, is undeniably soul crushing. Hope this changes in the future between them.🙏🏽
It will get better, Ben! And, she reads so well for a 3 years old...
I have a feeling that if they tried this at home with one camera, she'd probably be able to focus better.
oh my gosh shes so adorable
She’s so cute but spoiled
shes very spoiled...and has extremely cold , empty of feeling, eyes
Awww 🥺 this is so sweet 🥲
Ben I’m not sure you’ll see this, but keep trying like I’m sure you will. My husband and I have 5 kids and we go through phases where a kid only wants one of us. It’s hard and hurtful but it does get better.
I love these videos so much!!! ♡♡♡♡♡
My heart literally breaks for him
omgg so excited to watch this, i love this family xxx
Awww she looks just like him!
She’s growing up so much!!!
This family is so cute!
Oh my god I feel so sad and sorry for the father!
I think Ben should use his real voice when talking to his daughter, not that soft baby voice. He comes across like he doesn't really know her. His approach seems similar to an uncle or a family friend who only sees the girl occasionally. Weird.
I was trying to convey this exact point earlier. Trying too hard. And she can tell.
I subscribed because of this family! I love them
Awww this is so cute❤️❣️💋💗
Hes sweet,and loveing and kind
Cuteness OVERLOAD!
God bless your family😘
babies and children naturally cling to the mother early on because they're usually the ones feeding them and taking care of them. So they feel safer with mommy. It's not that she don't like dad but I'm sure he's gone alot more than mommy is.
Beautiful family 💕
I kind of feel sad for Ben Tbh, but Naiya is a child so I hope things work out perfectly for them ♥️♥️♥️ I love their family
Ugh I love him
