    Sorry y'all I'm just now seeing the questions in the live chat. I was using orange floats and red beads for an attractive appearance. They're added to the loops of a bottom rig before the hooks are added.

    Have you ever had or seen a fish pull a rod out of a holder like this? Imagine something that’s so big you find it difficult to even budge with a 9’ heavy action and 50 lb braid. Obviously a rare fish, but wouldn’t want it stealing my rod when I use the restroom.
    My reel holds 800 yards of line so I’m not worried about running out.

    • @CarolinaShoreFishing
      @CarolinaShoreFishing  Год назад +1

      Lot of sharks and rays around that can definitely snatch a rod up off the pier! Always keep your drag loosened or stand by your rods. Seen it happen many times.

      @@CarolinaShoreFishing it was a crazy day when I lost one. No hits gif 2 hours and Rebaited fairly frequently. Rod was definitely out of reach and sailed about 100’.
      Do shark really hit 1” pieces of shrimp on a top and bottom rig? I would think they’d want more?

    • @CarolinaShoreFishing
      @CarolinaShoreFishing  Год назад +1

      It happens. I've lost a rod or two that was out of my reach. If it was a piece if shrimp it's likely a stingray grabbed it but shark will also take a shrimp.

    Were you using just shrimp or did you have something else? Also I noticed you were not out very far on the pier, what was you reason for fishing there?

    • @CarolinaShoreFishing
      @CarolinaShoreFishing  2 года назад

      I only used fresh shrimp. Yes the fish like to hang out in certain areas. Pompano can be found chilling behind the breakers after the sandbars.

      @@CarolinaShoreFishing Thanks for the info. I'm retired here but not too familiar with pier fishing, I didn't know pompano were around in the fall. Do you have a website or u tube site for regular fishing tips?

      @@michaelrigsby5191 get you a season pass .there are lots of retirees on the pier every day. .situation changes daily on the pier and there is lots to learn. Depends on what kind of fish you want to target. We fish for pan fish mostly. My wife loves her fish and grits. So whiting ,pomp and stuff like that is what we usually target. The pier is a great place to fish.

    • @CarolinaShoreFishing
      @CarolinaShoreFishing  2 года назад +1

      Check out this playlist and skip around to the videos showing rigs being tied! The standard would definitely be the bottom rig and Carolina rigs. Catch everything with those. Then there's a video showing how to tie some sabikis for mackerel! Hope this helps!Instructional Fishing Videos: ruclips.net/p/PLcdehyP7MmVE_KlaaYRDCAURH5bzStU_m

    What would you recommend fishing with during mid March on Apache pier?
    Also would you fish toward the surf end or deeper water?
    And lastly, would you fish the south or north side? I’ve heard south.
    Thanks, YET AGAIN!

    • @CarolinaShoreFishing
      @CarolinaShoreFishing  Год назад +1

      I would tend to fish fresh shrimp, sand fleas, and fish bites in that order. I'd start near the surf south side and keep moving as the tide moves back out then work your way back in with the tide. Checkout this video where I implement this movement while flounder fishing! ruclips.net/video/javaluk4fT8/видео.html

      @@CarolinaShoreFishing I have a flea rake, and plenty of fish bites, but they are kinda old. I might need to get some new ones. I tended to do best with shrimp , clam and flea for those.
      Where do you get live shrimp? I know they have nothing but frozen at Apache.
      I was thinking of tossing some small spoons in the surf or other things like gulp grubs, or fishbites grubs. Thoughts? I’ve caught mackerel there on gotcha plugs and Rapala craps, but kinda outta season for that.
      Thanks again!!
