- Here's a cool compilation clip of some Grumman Duck flights I have taken over the years at Fantasy of Flight. The video appears to be the sequence of a single flight pattern, but is actually pieced together from several flights. Hope you enjoy it.

My Dad was the aviation mechinist's mate on one of these J2F3s on Palmyra Atoll and flew back seat. They were Palmyra's only air defense at the time of the Japabese attack on Pearl Harbor. Bomb on one wing, depth charge on other. Thanks for the great flying footage!
Fantastic! This is what I want to see. No backround music or whatsoever. Just beautiful shots of an amazing plane. You guys understand it! 100% ok.
when Grumman built a plane they seem too last forever thanks Kermit for the video
Loved these ever since I saw Peter O’toole flying one in, “Murphy’s War”. What a great picture that was.
it was a great film. Ahead of its time.
I first saw it on an episode of Black Sheep Squadron and immediately fell in love with it. This plane has SO MUCH character.
Oh so very cool. I grew up not far from Grumman on LI, NY and we saw numerous beasts those guys made.....just outstanding!
Murphy's War (1971) brought me here, nice vid thanks.
I tell ya, Kermit just has all the fun. I would be grinning ear to ear flying that thing. It is so cool. You can do a hell of a lot in that aircraft. It is so versatile. Plus it sounds great.
The touchdowns couldn´t be more like a feather... what an odd but cute design this bird has! Thank you again or sharing these gems with us.
Kermit Weeks, American Gentleman and real Cool Guy.
Thanks
For some unexplained, oddball reason this is one of my favorite aircraft. Thanks for the great, multi-angle videography!
I recommend people to watch the Movie Film "murphys War" staring peter O toole . great coverage of this classic old Girl, Thanks for posting this video Sir Kermit.
If I could own and fly a plane of my choice, it would probably be the Grumman Duck.
One of the unsung heroes of WW2, At times we forget what part they played, I am sad to say I was one of them, bless them all, Thank you for showing this,
So ugly it's beautiful. I've also wondered if Grumman finally eliminated the hand crank by the time they got the contract for the F-14.
Negative, I can confirm that AE1 said that Chief said that Senior Chief said it still had the hand crank!
Looks like 2 planes stuck upon / combined together.... Water take off bit scary!
This reminds me of a movie with Peter O Tool as a kid “Murphy’s War”. He was after a sub.
Mr Murphy the War is Over. He blew up the stuck sub with a torpedo the sub shot and landed on the beach with a old barge and ended up dying too. Went to movie theater ever night for a week to watch it again.
I'm convinced that Kermit Weeks can fly a washing machine with wings
That Beauty sing it own "Clear Prop". Unmistakable
Thanks for all you do. These old birds deserve to have there wings spread.
Radial sounds great
How can someone not like this video??
This has been one of my favorite planes for meny years. I truly hope Kermit continues to keep her in flyable condition.
Such a cool airplane!! I can't wait to see a video giving us an update on all the aircraft you have being restored around the world. Your collection is truly one of the best out there! Keep up the GREAT work Mr. Week's and team!! I can't wait to see more video's from ya. 👍👍
Wunderbares,informatives Video!Danke!!Grüße aus Deutschland
So nostalgic ! My father flew PBY's in WWII. Thanks for making this compilation ! It means a lot.
I remember reading about this plane, then seeing it at the first air show I went to. Transpo 72 at Dulles airport in D.C. What a beauty. Thanks for keeping them flying.
What an awesome bird! And the sound of that engine is amazing. I could listen to that all day.
Been following you for Years sir it's a joy watching you do your thing...🙏🏻🙏🏽🙏🏿
That’s my favourite plane, thanks Kermit. I could imagine lost and downed pilots seeing it approach to rescue them, just like it appears over the line of trees in this great video. Ahhh, I’m saved...!
I saw this plane at transpo 72 at Dulles. Thanks for keeping it flying.
Hey thats Murphys airplane ! always love the Grumman Duck it has so much charisma a big round engine and growls too ! you can do these excellent montages any time Kermit they work really well, the take off on water is really something to watch and younare having a great time flying this lovely old biplane, thanks as always for doing these much appreciated.
Great video. What an awesome plane. I have a soft spot in my heart for Grumman floatplanes.
Good to see the "Duck" up and flying. Wonderful Video Kermit.
This is one of the coolest warbirds of all time and what a cool hobby plane! If I was you i would find one of these!
Awesome. Like something from Tail Spin the cartoon.
I enjoyed the gear retraction, was hoping to see an extension from inside and out of the cockpit. Thanks Mr. W., always a pleasure to watch you fly.
Loved watching this type plane flying in Murphy' War.
Beautiful production. Didn't know there were still any flying examples of this venerable old war bird in the air. Kudos to th
The Duck seems like a pretty agile plane for something so ungainly-looking.
Love Grumman, love biplanes, love boats , love ducks everything I love in one machine
"That's the duck, pretty cool", no sir.....very cool!
Fantastic designed airplane.
beautifully filmed!
Wow! Birds at 5.30 in. That was a close call! Nice video Kermit!
Doing what a duck 🦆 is supposed to do fly and play in the drink. Thumbs up 👍🏻
Love these old warbirds. Soon the F-4 Phantom will become a warbird
Great video of a great airplane.
If it floats like a duck and sounds like a duck and looks like a duck...then it must be a duck? One outta three is mostly bad. Well, it's no big deal - like water on a ducks back.
Great video sequence Kermit - thanks for sharing this remarkable bird with us! Quack!
Outstanding Kermit.......what huge fun my friend.
Who'd think that an illegitimate offspring of a washing machine and a flatiron would handle like Gloster "Gladiator" !
Thank you for your efforts to bring your love of historic aircraft to the public, after the Collins group loss I’m hoping the FAA will not drastically change the requirement to keep vintage aircraft flying and the ability for the public to share the thrill of being airborne in a piece of history.
Love the Fantasy of Flight time-machine. My dad flew these things; said on an ugly scale it was just under the PB4Y-2 but he loved flying it. His personal favorite was the PBY.
Man, that looks dicey landing on a lake, I can himagine on open sea...
Reminds me of the movie Murphy’s War starring the great Peter O’Toole.
Kermit's War, One man's fight against derelict planes
Cool movie
I sought out a digital copy of that movie a couple years ago. Tallman showed his true mastery in some of the most dramatic seaplane footage ever captured. An aviation masterpiece!
Murphys war,great movie,great plane,great actor..
Grummans patented Armstrong landing gear retraction system
I had a great visit to your facility. Got to take a great flight in a PT-17 Stearman while I was there. I had a great time and I highly recommend the trip if anyone wants to fly a piece of history. It may be strange but of all the aircraft in your collection the duck is in my two or three "would love to fly list". As for early memories, I guess I remember the cameo's made by a Duck in the Black Sheep Squadron TV show along with Murphy's War.
Awesome flight thanks for taking me along.
Man this plane is SO COOL!! AWESOME VIDEO! Like always :)
Beautiful bird, thanks for sharing.
Thanks for the ride kermie 👍🏼👍🏼🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
Nicely done! Meat and potatoes...
That was kool. Thank you for sharing Kermit.
Learn something all the time, did not know the landing gear was hand cranked.
Not the only AC in the Navy inventory of that time with hand cranked landing gear. F3F Wildcat also
every time I see this I remember watching baa baa black sheep and Midway with my dad. brings back good memories. thanks!
x6ftundx: Same here, I remember more then a few rescue missions involving the DUCK, with those College Boys! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸💪🏻💪🏿💪
Amazing aircraft. I want one.
I flew in P3c for 8 years...would love a flight in the Duck!
Amazing and beautiful!
It's like new. Too bad we can't rebuild the fine men that flew these. My Dads generation. RIP dad and all the guys like him!
*That was fun.*
Wow he was so close to a bird strike!
One of my favourite planes!!
私は水上機が大好き。
アメリカ軍の中では、このダックとキングフィッシャーがいい。
何とも言えない味がある。
Beautiful and rare bird😍 Thank you.
"Lord Love A Duck" and me too. My FAV airplane! I like the sound of the 9 cylinders on the Wright R1820. They are much more visceral than the smoother 14 cylinders of a P&W R1830.
It's more beautiful to me than any jet will ever be.
Beautiful seaplane fun to watch wish I could ride in it 👍🤓
a great video!
Awesome flight 👍
Living the dream Kermie
I love that aircraft it always reminds me of Peter O' Tool flying a Grumman Duck in Murphy's War, that was a close shave @ 5.30 with those birds.
Watch "Murphy's War" 1971 for great Frank Tallman Duck flying.
Very very cool....thanks!
What an truly awesome plane, I love this generation of biplane.
Great video!
“Quack quack” Lol!
There was one in a museum at John Wayne Airport in the early 60's. I visited this place several times as a kid. I also saw one do a air show routine at the
Reno air races around the early 70's.
Makes me wonder if Kermit's Duck is the same one......
Love the tail cam!
Great! You might enjoy this then . . . ruclips.net/video/l2dK8RhGf0o/видео.html
What a really Cool plane , Never seen one 👍🤪👍
Love the Duck!🤗
There is a great book called "Frozen In Time" by Mitchell Zuckoff. It tells the story of a search for WW2 Grumman Duck lost on the Greenland ice in a rescue mission back then. Thing was buried under the ice intact!
5:41 - A CONSTELLATION!
What a cool aircraft dont think i ever seen one before.
only 6 words. "I wish I had your life'" What s beautiful plane. Better yet, being able to fly it whenever you want.

Never have seen the duck in the water and I was surprised how much of the float was in the water at taxi.
I thought it was going to sink!
