Looks like the writers misinterpreted too because if you look at the way the writers used to promote the 100, it’s all about bellarke. Most of the scripts have cheeky moments between the two as well. If bellarke doesn’t become more than platonic in the last season, I will completely give up on trusting writers/producers.
I'm pretty sure they're following the plot of the books. (Although I wouldnt know because ive never read them) And regardless, its smart because they're keeping us hooked and antisipating the entire time so that the pay off will be worth more to us.

You know I've always wondered why Clarke has never been direct with him or truly confessed her actual love for him to him. Not just using the word "care" which he's continued to use the word "care" more and more over the season's also as well as other people. Only few have actually called them out privately for actually loving the other. However I was just thinking about a lot of the thing's that Clarke has begun to realize in season 7 and we've seen in Clarke's mind in season 6. Everyone she had a romantic relationship with the exception of Nyla all died indirectly because they loved her. And she blames herself for all of their deaths. She is terrified of being in a romantic relationship again with anyone and doesn't believe that she deserves to be happy after all she had done. Justified or for her people or not. She just lost her mom end of season 6 and told Gaia she cannot lose anyone else. She's terrified to love because they all die. And now she believes Bellemy is dead. If she doesn't realize that he's alive soon she will be avenging his death real soon. Add that she andthe other's likely just realized that Octavia, Dioza and Echo all appear to be brainwashed and probably mind wiped. Her knowing about those 4 people. She will likely be on a slaughter spree the first chance she gets unless something changes or happens very quickly.
