Hi can you please help me connecting those wires into that small litte piece which goes with alarm with 3 wires. ? Does color of wire matter while connecting to alarm ?
I want to add a heat detector into my garage. I can catch the 110V from the ceiling plug. The closest fire alarm inside is a bedroom about 30 feet from the center of the garage. I have a flat roof with no attic. Does the red wire have to be in a series connection, or can I just add it as a parallel connection? Thanks for the video.
You should probably check with an electrician on that one. I have always connected the smoke and heat detectors in parallel with each other. I haven't taken power from one spot and signal from another. Not sure if that is possible or not.
The old one did go back up, and it was the smoke only ones that were installed in the bedrooms. But I needed to take down the smoke and CO one to tie in the 2 new smoke detectors I was adding in the two new bedrooms.
Looks good. I know in the US our smokes are required to be on those new arc fault breakers. Have you used those yet? They do a great job preventing arcing.
I don't believe that ours need to be on an Arc Fault breaker but I could be mistaken. It is required that all general purpose plugs are on Arc Fault Breakers. I believe there are a few exceptions. General purpose lighting circuits for instance do not need to be arc fault protected.
@@ResearchDesignBuild I think it's written where it doesn't say the smoke needs to be but requires it to be on a circuit that requires it, so it's indirect. Either way, I like those breakers.
@@CybekCusal I haven't found anything specifying it. But you are probably right. I tied into an existing circuit for the smoke detectors so they were all linked so I wasn't paying attention to what circuit it was on.

Wish you showed how to connect the wires with that cap.

And did you buy carbon monoxide alarms with them too?
Thanks I need to do this exactly!
Perfect, glad this helped
@@ResearchDesignBuild did you have an HRV in your home and needed to tie into it for your basement bathroom?
@@sushi13141 I do and I did tie in another one. It is pretty easy I could make a quick video on that one for you.
@@ResearchDesignBuild I would love that. I have not been able to find any content on that, just new fan installs. Thank you!
@@sushi13141 I will try to get a video together for you tomorrow on this
I’m gonna subscribe for sure helped me out a lot

What happened to the old ones, you replaced them with only smoke detectors While the old ones were smoke and CO alarms

@@ResearchDesignBuild maybe check what type of circuit is allowed for the smoke detector
