Useful information on the methods available for payment at Dublin's public transport.A must watch video especially for students who might have arrived in this marvelous city of Dublin, for the first time...👍
Good details and very informative. The network is not too complicated. It will be good to upgrade systems so we can simply top our credit/debit card. Thanks
if i buy a leap visitor card for 20 ish euros i don't remember exactly for 3 days, where is the limiit of kilometer i can travel? i can jump on any DART or bus and go anywhere? how does it work?
Leap cards are rechargeable cards to make contactless payments for all Dublin’s or Ireland’s public transport. They don’t limit you on kilometres basis. You can travel as far or as much as you want to if you have the balance in the cards . For better understanding I would highly recommend you to watch this entire video dedicated to leap cards alone - All you need to know about a LEAP card | Dublin Ireland ruclips.net/video/MF4kJkcxtlU/видео.html
@@DeeptiKulkarni_ yeah but I understand that leap visitor card are different from leap card "normal" the last one are the one u said about but the visitor card ate bought for a price for a tot of days and are unlimited at least this is what the web say, but I really don't understand this unlimited?!
@@martina_iod Visitor cards are limited by time and not by distance. If you buy a three days visitor card (16 euro) regardless of how far or how much you travel you need not pay anything extra but it will get expired on the third day and you cannot use it any more nor can you recharge. Similarly with 1 day (8 euro) or 7 day (32 euro). The amount is fixed and so is the number of days that it is valid for.
@@DeeptiKulkarni_ Do the visitor leap cards need to be tapped on every bus or luas or dart drive too or just once? Do you need to the tap out on luas or dart (because you won't get any money back anyway)? And thank you so much for your videos.
You will have top up as the 5 euro is just for the card with zero balance. You can top up the card at the time of purchase with additional 5 euros in the conveniences store.
No there is no taping out concept in bus. If you tag on to the door sided validator machine, full fair amount will be deducted regardless of how much distance you travel.
I’m a little confused about using leap card on dart. If we have leap card do we not have to purchase tickets? Just scan the barrier on the way in and then on the way out?
You can pay either by buying tickets or by tapping the leap card. You can buy tickets from the ticket machine that are placed before the barrier gates in station. You can then use the tickets to swipe on the barrier gate to open it or you can use a leap card to tap on the barrier gate.
@@DeeptiKulkarni_ok but you do always need to purchase tickets for the dart? Not just tap leap on way in and then when you get off like the luas? I have leap card and want to know if I can just scan it when getting on and off. Or do I actually need to use the ticket machine?
You have to use a child leap card for children from age 5-15. They have Lower fare rates from an adult leap card. You cannot use the same leap card to pay for more than one person for luas and tram. However for bus you can use the same leap but in this case the driver would issue paper tickets for the other person by deducting money from same leap card.
Your videos are very good. Can you suggest which area of Dublin to stay in that is close to DART and luas stations ( less than 10 min walk) . Would like to go to Howth and Greystone, and also visit Galway/ cliffs via bus. Planning a visit this year. I hope you are able to reply.
If you are going to be taking the Dart and the luas quite frequently during your visit then I suggest try and stay within the city centre probably Dublin 1 must be a convenient location to pick up any public transport.
Thank you for the video. Can regular leap card be used by more than one person if i add enough value in it? We are family of 3. Or each person need to have his/her own card.
How about student leap card where can i buy it from and is there any discount based on it Also what is the benefit of the full fair account while paying.
I will be in Dublín for 3 weeks doing a course in DCU. What do you recomend? The Leap Card or paying the 30 days ticket? The latter is also valid for all public transports? Thanks
Pls buy a student leap card if you are studying. When you get here you can apply for it with your college documents. It has cheaper fares and daily capping. I would never recommend buying individual tickets. Always get a leap card for economical and hassle free travel experience
Adult 3 Day, Adult 7 Day and Adult All Day Dart tickets are no longer available. Customers are advised to use a Leap Card instead. With a Leap Card Adult daily cap is €7.60.
How ever you can purchase monthly tickets and it could be used for both Dart and Luas. Would cost you 115 euro for adults and 57 for students. You cannot buy monthly tickets online and can only purchase them from ticket machines .
