As an Italian born in Milan some hundred meters from the first Alfa Romeo factory (portello)
grew up in the 60s/70s with the myth of the Alfa Romeos

@@Ti22Vehicleservices Greta video. I am actually in the blessed position of getting a restomod (not Alfaholics) and I am considering carbon vs rebuilding the eaten away steel. A question or two - do you know how they paint carbon fibre? Is painting carbon the same as painting steel (i.e. for the results that you end up with)? The added speed that you get from steel vs fibre can't be much, but I am tempted as hell regarding the whole idea of carbon

Absolutely gorgeous! I love these cars the way Alfa originally made them. What Alfaholics achieves is unbelievably wonderful! I just wish I could afford one!
The only problem is that I can't imagine actually driving it after all this tremendous and beautiful detail work! I guess I need two of these: one to drive and a second one to keep in my living room! LOL!

Really enjoyed this video. I prefer to see you doing things rather than talking about what you have done. It really is good to see Alfaholics doing the presentation the correct way. I used to work for a company building classic cars £400,000 upwards and they were never prepared to this standard.

stunning, I am in awe..again when it comes to an Alfaholics project...lovely colour, perfect job on the paint...this bluette seems to be a tinge different in pigmentation from the one that I used to see, albeit rarely, on vehicles from the time, or am I mistaken?
Man, the color is absolutely perfect on this car. I’d have a hard time driving it just because I would want to look at it so much.
I'm going to buy one of those but only to keep it in the garage and clean it every single day. My OCD will enjoy it a lot
Fabulous video. Audio sounded ok in spite of the strange "filter" noise starting at 2:30 and ending after 4:30. Sounds like the music was somehow superimposed over the mic audio.

Yes, it's not clear coated. Single stage is the right period correct look for this car 👌
Considering that they cost around ten times more than the originals, adjusted for inflation, I would expect some level of improvement yes

What a beauty of a car. Nothing beats car styling of that era. Today, design is either incredibly boring or over the top. Back then it was pure elegance, and the lines just flowed

It's beautifully finished. But those bonnet catches look half arsed and unfinished. I'm sure there's a domed, stainless, turnbuckle type fitting available. Fairly certain I could design, fabricate and polish to a mirror finish a couple of prototypes.

Nice work James, at 3:32 is that little side light part filled with water? The line across it certainly makes it look that way. If so I think I would disappointed to find that on a “brand new” car...
Thanks, yes I see what you mean. Definitely not water! There's a style line moulded into the light that could look like it though 👍
Why is this car so fucking beautiful ?!
With a seven year wait to get your ultimate Alfa Romeo, what will you drive in the meantime? How about a Noble M400 which is only going to cost you around £55 to 60 thousand and will out perform the Alfa in a straight line whilst handling as well as the Italian car. Having driven an old standard left hand drive Alfa GTV, will say that whatever speed you approach a bend, it just goes round it as if on rails.

"2000 hours on the bodywork" he said, when referring specifically to the paint. Is that for real? So at regular mechanic prices that's IRO £100,000... JUST FOR THE PAINTWORK!... I would die to own such an amazingly beautiful car. Seems like that might not be anywhere near enough.
I think that's the whole car, which makes sense for the price (about 200k iirc)

@@Ti22Vehicleservices Not bad at all. They originally weighed about 1000kg, so that's a pretty substantial difference.
I worked on a '63 Lotus Elan, once. Those are only about 680kg, and they are really quick. I'd love to drive one of these.

I can't really get excited about that, much at all. It would seem a bit OTT and a bit of an ornament. Happy to be wrong - but can't imagine it being thrashed around a race track etc.
You'll see one be thrashed around the top gear track on Sunday night!
The cost of this thing. Yikes. Worth every penny though - What's the build time on this from scratch? 12 months? Wouldn't be far off with at least 3 blokes working on it..

Its Bluette (Blue). I have a 1969 GT junior with the same color (original color, but repainted)It does looks green in green enviroment. And a shade of gray when the sun goes down. Amazing color.

If I had the money I would easily buy a 290 or this instead of any modern supercar. No one except Lotus seems to understand nowadays that a light weight and nimble chassis is the way to go.They all have way too much power, completely idiotic. Useless electronics and apps. I need a proper steering rack, manual gearbox and Waze so I see where the speed traps and police are located :)).

@@banmadabon Nooo.....with CF body it is probably $400K. The ALFAholics 290 was over $200k a couple of years ago. This is a cool car but I lean towards a real ALFA GTA or GTAm....will always be worth more as a valuable collector car.

The front grille is obviously a heart, not a kidney! The hood latches are foolish things, they will rattle, should be a more able fastener and no cord obviously. Who wants to stare a piece of wire loop vibrating in the wind the whole drive?
When you apply a cloth to a complex metal surface on the engine, use some variety of rigid applicator behind a carefully folded piece, to get into nooks, or use a stiff bristle brush, changing the contact surface as you go. This wiping with a large balled up wad of cloth is not a real working method. And why no gloves?
There is obvious finger scratch marks at the door pull, visible in the slow pan. The footwell is dirty. "Only half done" explains the video too.
I'm glad somebody else saw the obvious scratch marks by the door handle. In the same area, it looked like some spiderwebbing in the paint. No where close to a "10" on the paint and finish. That said, I'd rather have this car than almost anything else I can think of, and the materials and covering selected for the seats was perfect.
