Hi Alex, my girlfriend and I are thinking of moving to Malta within the next 2 years so your videos have been very insightful. We’re coming from the US and honestly we thought these prices were pretty reasonable/similar to prices here. Was great to see inside the stores there, thanks so much we love your videos!
Hi Alex. It's Caroline in Ireland. I love, love, love Malta, I was there in the late 80's it was so romantic. Alpro Coconut milk is at my local supermarket for 4.95 euro so more expensive, even though we are the land of agriculture and high tech! Great videos, love your style of presentation. Brilliant!
Shocked how expensive it is there compared to UK I did my shopping in Lidi in Gozo when I visited Malta 2019 price have gone up thanks Alex for the update on cost of living on the beautiful island Malta you call home ✌️🏴❤️🇬🇧✌️
Great! I am watching from Bulgaria and I think about moving to Malta. I was in Germany a few times and I noticed that the prices are the sanme like in Bulgaria, but in euro. which is double. Here I don't see anything like this. The prices are the same like in Bulgaria, but in euro, I mean almost half cheaper then Germany. Very helpful video again!
Great video but you chose one of the most expensive supermarkets... Greens is not far from wellbees at all and offer far better prices such as Avocados instead of 5.35 for 2 they have 4.95 for 6 Almond milk instead of 2.49 as cheap as 1.75 Water instead 6x1.5L for 4.49 there is 6x2.5L for 2.99 Also you went straight to big time agents for property... always something the Maltese avoids. You can look on places like Maltapark and Facebook marketplace and negotiate deals straight from owner (private seller) and get a far better price for an apartment. The way they build new apartments are also laid out very strange and crammed if you don't spend a lot... whereas old apartments such as my own have very high ceilings and far better space. You also went to a very expensive barber. 12 euro for a cut&wash is overpriced. There is a barber near greens that does it for 10 and one in Gzira that does it for 8. Sure you pointed out that you can find a barber for 5 but you still only showed in the video the expensive one. Restaraunts too. You find very cheap bars, pubs and take-out places in Gzira and other areas where you can have a whole meal for as little as 5 euro. It honestly boils down to the fact that you stayed in mostly the Saint Julians area. If you really want to find good prices you need to go out of such a central/tourist area. Stores like Greens and Pavi, barbers you find almost everywhere for cheap, restaraunts in Saint Julians being the most expensive. You seem like a great guy and make great videos however in no way does this showcase the true cost of living in Malta.
Hey hey🙂 first i would like to THANK YOU for taking the time to post such a good comment, thanks for spearing time to do so! I completely agree and understand. At the beginning of the video i mentioned these are the places where i go to shop, i have been here since 2015, and soon im doing a video out of the St Julians/Sliema area, stay tuned for that and im sure you will clap your hands. Oh and btw, im happy you noticed im a good guy not a spoilt brat 😇
I can't believe how much Malta changed. I m in shock. Yes I did hear about many constructions and many immigrants. However, compared to where I live now it's the same cost of living give or take. I miss maltese food such as gbejniet, gbjena and pastizzi.
Malta is getting quite expensive lately, I am Maltese and I can see the difference in prices every few weeks. Property is super priced and groceries are getting expensive too. Also note that you went to Portomaso area mate, where to every 1 euro they charge you 1.20 or 1.50 :) hehe
Thanks for commenting, yes, Malta is expensive, and the cost of living is very high for minimum wage workers, there is always 3 sides of the cost of living in Malta, the one for minimum wage, medium wage and high wage workers, many videos are coming out, this was one of them, side note ... im going to Hamrun in my next video :)
@@AlexinMalta Just seen it now. Yeah Hamrun is pretty cheap and Lidl aswell of course :) Contacting a direct owner to rent / buy a place is always the best option although properties are still highly priced haha considering when you comparing prices with few years ago, just few years back. This one was a good video too :)
Hey Alex, great tour around Malta. However, a quick note, as a single parent, wouldn't you think that the cost of living is way too much? Even as a local here and minimum wage is not enough to get by with teens. What's your opinion on that? As beautiful as this country is, you really have to think about the hard working class too, and still unable to survive on the expenses of rents. I'm not being harsh here, but as a local here for most of my life, I've seen the rise in this country long enough, and it's no longer what it used to be.
hey hey. thanks a lot for taking the time to post your comment which i agree it is pretty much on point. Yes, the cost of living for someone earning minimum wage is very high, and to continue with my comment, stay tuned for the next video that is coming out :)
Oh man, I just found your channel, and this video paints such a beautiful picture of Malta (when u walk around pricey shops, showing the fancy portomaso marina in the background) that I can't believe that we're living in the same country.. 😅 I would love you to show the ugly side of Malta, too (the rubbish on the streets, construction literally EVERYWHERE making noise even on Sundays and public holidays etc) in one of your videos as a counterbalance to these lovely pictures - so that your viewers could see the cons, and not only the pros, before deciding to come here :) anyway, nice content 👍👍👍
What a sweet comment thank you, im glad you liked it. Have a look at this one ruclips.net/video/PO_blo8H1Og/видео.html it is more of the opposite side of this video. Dirt, construction etc is comming in another video :)))
I'm from California and the cleaning products, TP and groceries are quite a bit less! About 20% less. Except beef & chicken about the same. Water bottles seems a bit higher. Beer Garden sandwiches are very cheap compared to $7 - 10 for a good sandwich here. Nice restaurant prices are about the same. I was hoping for lower prices in a nice restaurant. As for housing, there are ridiculously high prices for buying here too. Very small houses are $1mil and up. The rental costs in Malta are A LOT less. I'm paying $2000/mo for a 2 bedroom 1 bath cute house in the downtown area. In Malta, if you get away from Sliema, Valetta etc, there are a lot of apartments and House of Character for half that price or less. It's actually one of the main reasons I'm moving there. Aside from it being a gorgeous island in the Mediterranean, the housing and some food costs are much lower. Great video on real prices! Thanks Alex!
Don't forget here in Malta the minimum wage is still 750€ a month (well not all the job are paid like this, in hospitality ate paid like this or a bit more)so living in Malta it's to expensive compared at 11 years ago 1 bedroom a flat in Bugibba sea front I was paying 260€
I will be coming from Canada and the Pantene shampoo you featured a product to buy is approx the same price when not on sale here. Sale price is around $3.99 Canadian so around $2.79 euros, not too far off.

The prices are more expensive than in Germany. Although the average income is about twice as high as in Malta I would estimate. I think the shops in which you are shopping are too expensive. Buying at Lidl would be cheaper (Maybe you can show the prices there). But I think you have enough money so that you do not have to do price comparisons as you mentioned.

Which is the best amongst the both
Thxs love
ABHISHEK
Hey, for that price you need to check San Gwann, Msida or possibly Gzira but not Sliema or St Julians
@@AlexinMalta thxs
The prices are more expensive than in Germany. Although the average income is about twice as high as in Malta I would estimate.
I think the shops in which you are shopping are too expensive. Buying at Lidl would be cheaper (Maybe you can show the prices there).
But I think you have enough money so that you do not have to do price comparisons as you mentioned.
I will just leave this one for you here: ruclips.net/video/PO_blo8H1Og/видео.html i hope you will enjoy it

So people in Malta buys few packs of water bottles for drinking purpose ❓ or else water vending machines also available to use huge water cans to refill ❓Most Awaiting video for me 🥳🥳...... ❤️ From Macedonia 🇮🇳😜
hey hey :) yes we buy water battles, either in packets, or you can get the big dispenser at home. I have seen some refillable dispanser where you can get affordable priced water
@@AlexinMalta I'd much rather have a dispenser of clean water delivered like in 5 gallon (big) bottles. Any idea the cost of that kind of delivery service?
@@authenticitymarketing7229 it will cost €4.50 for 19 ltrs bottle

How sweet of you to pay attention to that request and thanks for sharing your comment about the price ❤️
Thanks Alex to showed up this, I am coming to Malta in December 8 and this is the place I am going to work. And live Portomaso
Very nice vedio bdr. Pls do vedio about apartments available for rent which is suitable for a person who work in malta
wow, it's nice to see the prices of groceries but it seems like the apartments are quite expensive to live in for a single person.
Really depends on the locality. Central (Sliema, St. Julians etc) are A LOT more expensive than the outside villages and regions.
Exactly, places like Marsa, Imsida and Fgura are considerably cheaper.
Useful Alex ..
Thank you Alex for again...a very informative and helpful vlog...Godbless
