Note the DNS record can only have 1 SPF record, but you can have multiple entries in that one record. Just something I ran into. Thank you for this helpful video!
For reference since I ran into this pitfall when trying to add my account to Gmail, the "mail" CNAME DNS record, it should *not* be proxied via Cloudflare (set it to "DNS only"). CloudFlare does not proxy email ports (995, 465, etc), at least not without an enterprise plan.
Thanks for the detailed tutorial! Question, why did you enter the txt with an ip address for the SPF record instead of the one in the email/notepad you have on screen?
Hi, I'm just curious regarding the SPF Records in the email sent by mxroute, the value is different from the one from the dns management, which one should you be using?
@@stratos-tutorials I messaged mxroute and they said we should use the one in the email and to only use the DKIM key in the dns management. The SPF key in the dns management is left there since that panel was made for web hosting but mxroute has turned it into email only.
if you decide to use Cloudways-Rackspace-Email, what are the issues other than price? can you have multiple domains/applications/wordpress installs on a single-server and use rackspace? or is this an issue?
There is no issue and is very easy to create. 1$ every month for every email account. You can have as many apps (WP installations) as your plan can handle and with it you can have as many emails you want for all those installs.
When I try to generate SSL it throws me "Domain is already processing an SSL request. Please allow it to finish before making other changes.". Any ideas? I'm kind of desperate.
First check that the domain in the ssl options is not selected. Only mail and webmail must be. Then try it again. Also sslhopper has an ssl tester. Check there if the ssl is already installed
Anyone have an opinion of getting certified for all this stuff (setting up websites, SSL certs, emails etc). Linux Professional Institute exams cover this?
I want to learn all this stuff SSL certificates and encryption and DNS and Web site deployment/backup but I'd like to do it in a structured way - a lot of people seem to just get their through experience but I am looking for a more academic/qualified route..
e.g. lpi.org exams - how it do learn all this stuff, have you any advise/career path for becoming a web admin (as opposed to network admin - or is that still the main route)
For others benefit - i think if you want to go through the CompTIA Security+ 501 (601 from July 2021) it covers this - not sure you need to go on to CCNA but I found a great Udemy course by Bogdan Stashchuk covering a lot of this ground - really I want to learn about Apache (location blocks?) because want to install Wordpress multisite but different domains, that and the cert generation are a bit tricky for a newbie ;)

Thanks for the info. My email has the same records with the dns so I could not test any different setting.

is there a IP whitelisting capability?

After all those steps, Is it possible to send and receive e-mails created in MXRoute using a gmail free account ?
Yes. You have to enable the forward function from MXRoute to gmail for the incoming and enable the send from smtp in Gmail for outgoing.
@@stratos-tutorials tk you a lot. Do they have imap for Gmail?
Since you're forwarding there is no need for IMAP. But to answer you question I couldn't find any direct answer to enable custom domain IMAP.
Thank you very much. Excellent tutorial. Congratulations!!
