Hi KartFab, say can you give me that throttle linkage kit part number. I really like that setup. Does it include that spring for the peddle return? Thanks
+Don Raabe just click on my article link in the description, it has the links for the cable, return spring, and gas pedal. If you go to the brake section after reading the article it will link to the brake pedal return spring, and brake pedal. Its the first link in the description.
I am planning on making one of my own using 20" steel rods as the frame and 30" as the axle. I was wondering if making a box for gear and slots for multiple speeds and the throttle cable going to the back of the engine, I still don't what I'm gonna do for brakes but I got other things sorted. The downside is that I don't have pedal acceleration just a gear stick :) Do you like my idea! It's gonna be single seated so it's more aerodynamic and my brother ain't gonna get a joyride with meh lol
What did you use for the bracket that holds the throttle cable housing in place? My dad and I are building a go kart and can’t find anything that works.
I purchased your plans and built the standard live axle go kart. I replaced the centrifugal clutch with a 30 series torque converter. The wheels seem to spin fine when the kart is raised on jack stands but when I try to ride it, it doesn't seem to be getting enough torque to the wheels to get going. I am using the 60T axle sprocket with the 10T converter sprocket. The tires/wheels(145/80-6) and sprocket are keyed into the axle and I am using locking collars. Any ideas? Thanks
Did you loosen the friction nut on the throttle linkage and the throttle stop bolt? Does your throttle lever extend all the way when you depress the gas pedal?
I love your videos. I bought a very old Go kart for my 8 year old son. I will buy the motor tomorrow and follow your teaching. You are very good at what you do. Thank you. What welder are you using?
I feel like those pedals should be reversed, so the arc is "toward the operator". It also stops your foot from hitting the 'side bar' when you stomp it quickly.
+Don Raabe yeah, the pedals they make are proprietary and aren't some cheaply made parts. Same with the throttle cable. Its all heavy duty, quality stuff that will last for years and years.

I have used bike brake cables for my go kart throttle cable before. They work, but they dont tend to last as long as the real deal, throttle cables (especially the manco ones) are built with much thicker cable and do tend to last a very very long time.
Hey kartfab, when i installed my throttle cable and tested it it was way to hard to press it, i accidently put to much force on it and it snapped. any ideas of why this happened? also i am not using the kit you provide.
I'd start with the throttle arm on the engine. Can you move the lever on its own? There is a friction nut that needs to be loosened. After pulling the lever by hand it should return automatically. Next I'd make sure the go kart throttle cable can move freely within the housing. Once you have all that straightened out, move to the pedal. You might need to buy a decent cable. The cables I use on all my karts are the Manco style and are the best type to use IMO.
