- ANTIPOLO CITY, Rizal, Oct. 2, 2024 (SDN) -- Re-electionist Sen. Imee R. Marcos graced the 19th Southern Tagalog Cooperative Congress on Oct. 2-4 here in the city's Ynares Events Place.

Rizal Gov. Nina Ynares, Vice Gov. Reynaldo San Juan, City Mayor Junjun Unares, other local executives, and at least a thousand attendees warmly welcomed the Ilocana solon.
Marcos filed her Certificate of Candidacy or COC in the morning of the same day at the Commission on Elections (Comelec) as seeks re-election and continue her legislative work in the Senate. She is the chair of the Committee on Cooperatives.
Organizers of the three-day event invited her to speak in the event's plenary.
She said Republic Act No. 9520, or the Philippine Cooperative Act of 2008, is under deliberation in the Senate.
"So, we are amending (the Cooperative Act) to relax, add, and strengthen our cooperatives, including their access to capital, wider access to marketing, and give special emphasis to agricultural cooperatives (help in the food crisis)," Marcos assures.
The lady senator also wants cooperatives' tax exemption in increased from Php10 to Php100 million.
Marcos also noted that Southern Tagalog is home to some of the Philippines' billion-pesos worth cooperatives. (/)
