- Once upon a time, in a peaceful meadow, there was a clever rabbit named Ruby. Ruby was known for her quick thinking and resourcefulness. One day, as she hopped through the meadow, she came across a hungry fox named Felix who was lying in wait. Felix, who had been unsuccessfully trying to catch Ruby for days, saw her and licked his lips. “Ah, Ruby, I’ve finally got you! I’m going to have you for dinner.”
Ruby, sensing danger, thought quickly and said, “Oh, Felix, you don’t want to eat me just yet. I’ve heard about a delicious feast at the other end of the meadow. If you let me go, I can lead you to it.”
Felix’s eyes widened with interest. “Really? What kind of feast?”
Ruby replied, “It’s a grand feast with all kinds of tasty treats. But we need to hurry, or we’ll miss it.”
Felix was intrigued and decided to let Ruby lead the way. As they made their way through the meadow, Ruby led Felix to a large, deep hole covered with branches and leaves. She said, “The feast is just down this hole. You need to jump in quickly to get to it.”
Felix, eager for the feast, leaped into the hole. However, the hole was just a clever trap Ruby had set up. Felix fell in and found himself stuck, unable to get out. Ruby, safe on the edge of the hole, said, “Felix, there was no feast. I used my wits to save myself from being eaten. If you ever want to catch me again, you’ll have to be much cleverer!”
Ruby hopped away, leaving Felix grumbling in the hole. Felix learned that sometimes brains are more important than brawn, and Ruby’s quick thinking saved her from becoming dinner.
