I've come to the conclusion, after reading and studying Jerry's myriad lyrics, that he's truly a broken man, who's literally just going through the motions. So much regret, anger, fear, and self-loathing in the man. He's like a modern Solomon. He has (owns) everything, has tried everything, has done everything, but he's still riddled with guilt, fear of aging, fear of death. He still reminisces over his glory days with the band way back when he was "once a chosen son." I worry about him, especially with songs like this mentioning guns pointed at heads and such. 😳
Yeah. This is some dark shit right here, like a lot of their songs. Throughout the verse and chorus you can tell this guy is/has gone through some serious depression. Then the last part of “not going to save you, preform euthanasia”. Holy shit…glad he’s made it so far.
OMG Peter, I absolutely agree. I cannot stop listening to this song... I have been done it for years now. I love the whole song, the bridge is absolutely AMAZING. And the ambient and melodies from there to the end are simply incredible. Such a beautiful composition!!!. This is priceless... It is pure magic, pure art...

Yeah it really would be awesome. It would have been very powerful even more so than it already is. You know that with artificial intelligence they're working on a program that can sync up artists voice with different songs that they have absolutely nothing to do with or even etched the same lyrics, it doesn't matter. For example in the near future you could hear Layne Staley sing Smells like teen spirit and it would sound like he organically recorded a cover version of it and you couldn't tell that it was a.i. That's how good it will be. Right now it has a lot of kinks but won't for long. If this does work out I would love to hear Layne's voice on the entire first Godsmack album...can you imagine Layne singing Keep Away or Voodoo!!!??? That would be so epic I'd probably get so excited that I'd piss myself but a part of me thinks there's something morally wrong with that technology but my greedy consumer self wants it so badly...

My favorite song on this record. That’s very difficult to say because this is one of their best records in my humble opinion.
