Actually they do. Sri Lanka recently go bankrupt. Another country that has been bankrupted is Argentina. Debtors can just stop lending them money, and they will be stuck in poverty forever. Unlike when an individual is bankrupt, the person will just live in minimum wages for a few years and their bankrupt status will be resolved.
