What has age got to do with good taste in music anyway fair play to you 62 and look OCS the band are around since the early 90 s so you would of been in your mid 20s at least or at most very early 30s like 30 31 32 ok . Look only taking the piss . You have great taste in music so no more needs to be said
@@JamieLamb-ft6io Your maths is very good, 63 now (ffs) 🤣 but music is timeless and yep early 30's then, music is my life-blood, couldn't do without it and you're correct age has nothing to do with it and I'd take on anyone in a contest with my Air-guitar 🎸, not much of a singer now as my vocal chords haven't aged as well as my strumming but I'll be a music listening mean machine til my last breath, nice to meet you Jamie. 🎸🎧🎶
Turning 18, Ben Sherman Shirts, friends, freedom and alcohol. The 90s were the best years to be young. Now I’m the tragic 40 + years old man that I despised back then.
Now you know what it was like to be in the sixties we experienced the same thing these guys remind me of the Beatles who actually were their heroes heck he even plays a Hovner Base.
Their problem was their sound was too unfashionable for the cool kids of the 90s. Yes, their music was brilliant, yes it was superior to Blur and Oasis, undoubtedly. But it was dated, so was never going to beat the cooler sounds in the pop charts.
Malcolm Allison great bands great times. Always reminds me of the day Man Utd won the league (again) against Middlesbrough 0-3 on the last day of the season... shit for me cos I'm a Liverpool fan and I'm still going through the pain of drought but at least it's not then winning premier leagues ATM. It hurt but what music at the time. I remember the Blackburn-3 Leeds-4 game live on sky and they played OSC afterwards, what a band at the time. They're a perfect example of memories from the 90's. I'd like to see them make a comeback with the energy and creativity they had back then.
I love OCS. They got me through 90's when no-one else was being original. I still listen to them now along side the greats of the 80's like the one and only stone roses.👍😊
Brilliant song. Nothing fancy. Nothing pretentious. Nothing over the top. Just simple, beautiful music with lyrics that conjure up a thousand thoughts and situations. Love it. Had forgotten how much I liked it.
17 years old, at work and this comes on the tiny radio, I was absolutely stunned and adored it I asked one of the gorgeous lasses, who are they, she instantly knew them I bought the album from that day I listened to the album every single day after work, I borrowed work mates the album some in their mid 40’s at time and they all said same thing, they sound like a band that’s been around forever since 70’s but make it even better and the songs sound like they already should have been wrote late 60’s, 70’s then I bought every album they’ve ever released day was released and the gorgeous lass turned out to be my fiancé for 7 years. If not for fiasco with Blur & Oasis (which I did love though it was music history we don’t get today) these would have been biggest band of the 90’s easy. They are in simple words, utterly incredible it was always the lead and lead guitarists riffs through the songs that inspired me to become professional Guitarist/Pianist, Harmonica, Songwriter, I loved Oasis but it was these who inspired me along with Kula Shaker, Lightning Seeds, who remembers The Seahorses, Charlatans, Cast, The Verve, Lighthouse Family, Suede, Blur, Garbage, Catatonia, The Corrs, The Cranberries, Elastica, Creed, Space, Paul Weller, Travis, The Brand New Heavies, Stereophonics, The Stone Roses, guilty pleasure All Saints and Eternal, George Michael & Mary J Blige, Alanis Morrisette, The Cardigans, we had so so so many different Styles of bands from Alt Rock/Prog Rock/Indie Rock/Heavy Rock to epic Rhythm & Blues to Soul, from likes of happiness on day off work sitting in passenger seat of car with a Bud Ice, listening to Massive Attack, Dario G, Enigma, Enya, we had it all I felt at time it could be pure magic history I also believed music would keep on getting better as every song, every album got better especially with likes of Manic Street Preachers, then Britney and Alicia Keys destroyed music leaving us today with Auto tune and every single song and artist sounding exactly the same, the worst is MTV’s Catfish, they literally pick the cheapest and worst music any generation has had, then your females who sound the same not singing from gut, pit of your stomach and chest how your meant to and let it flow but they scream to no harmonies, no melody, use Auto Tune, they got or right on MTV recently saying the 90’s was music bliss & history the last great decade after 60’s though I love 70’s with Pink Floyd, E.L.O, The Who, The Hollies, The Bee Gees, Paul McCartney, I’d say thank you to all these epic history making artists for shaping my youth & inspiring me, giving me the hunger for the Guitar, never take lessons as Radiohead said in NME in 90’s if you need Guitar lessons just don’t bother, I taught myself & wrote some of the greatest tunes of the 00’s. What a decade, so many amazing untouchable memories.
This was one of the songs played at my young cousins funeral, he himself had a band and was an amazing guitar player. I love to listen to this and remember him
I turned 38 this year, and everytime I hear this song it reminds me of my high school days. They influenced me to learn the guitar. And to become a better person
Takes me back to my early seventies when everything was so care free. Unrestricted speed stair lifts, free incontinence pants and V8 mobility scooter...
One of first bands i seen live over 20 years ago and seen many times since never a bad gig now have tickets to see them again cannot wait roll on August
So good to hear that again after so many years. I used to play that album end to end on cassette every day in the car going to work. A brilliant album. I think I can hear something of the Byrds in this tremendous song.
spot on :D ! Nottingham, class of 97 :). 33 now . oh happy days. It's funny that just the other day I was dancing around the living room with my 1 and 3 year old to this song that i have not heard in 15 years :)
It's weird how music that in the 90's sounded so 60/early 70's (a lot of acts tried in the 90's OCS were the only band that truly sounded like they were from that era) now conjures the 90's unlike anything else for me.
Just re-discovered Moseley Shoals in my 40's.Oh these are such well crafted songs, It's so easy to forget how good music was, and to realise how much pure shite is churned out nowadays !!!!! I cry for this generation.
Most underated band of the Nineties. Still watching them live in the year 2024 and better than ever.
I'm 62 and love Ocean Colour Scene, cracking group ♥️🇬🇧♥️

Dan join the club, I'm soon to rurn 40. I remember listening to this it was my brothers album he got it from Brittania music club, remember them ?
Me too lads, me too
Now you know what it was like to be in the sixties we experienced the same thing these guys remind me of the Beatles who actually were their heroes heck he even plays a Hovner Base.
I id with that bro, 😎
No way
Imagine how much this song would be played on the radio if blur or oasis had released it.
OCS are seriously underrated
TheDvdral I also rate cast aswell
This entire album is a treasure trove of gems. Ah, man, those were the days
Paul Weller did a good version
Ocean Colour Scene had really bad luck because of the Madchester scene and the usual shit in London.
Their problem was their sound was too unfashionable for the cool kids of the 90s. Yes, their music was brilliant, yes it was superior to Blur and Oasis, undoubtedly. But it was dated, so was never going to beat the cooler sounds in the pop charts.
got tears rolling down my face listening to this
Always does it to me, no idea why!! Vibes of a happier time, long since gone maybe.
Am nearly 51 now and this song takes me back over 25 yrs just b4 my daughter, Lauren Louise Ormes was born ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤😊
my favorite band of all time. 16 years old not a care in the world. good music, drink, friends. Happy days. take me back...
Malcolm Allison takes me back to my favourite time this record, 96 just left school what a great period it was musically and socially
Brown eyed girl

Malcolm Allison I know those were the best days. Being young and carefree
I was 16 when this came out also. Best days of my life!
Why do some bands get forgotten unbelievable.. anthems every song
Mosley Shoals is an absolute masterpiece album.
First four songs are classic s.👌👏
Most of the best music of the 90s, like this, had a very sixties vibe, but in a really sincere, heartfelt way.
I love OCS. They got me through 90's when no-one else was being original. I still listen to them now along side the greats of the 80's like the one and only stone roses.👍😊
The time before the internet began. You'll never get these days back. How I wish I would have enjoyed them more than I did!
Brilliant song. Nothing fancy. Nothing pretentious. Nothing over the top. Just simple, beautiful music with lyrics that conjure up a thousand thoughts and situations. Love it. Had forgotten how much I liked it.
Read today's guardian your comment is mentioned 😃
+Adam Collins really? Where and in what context?
+Arnold Layne www.theguardian.com/music/2016/apr/20/ocean-colour-scene-moseley-shoals-the-band-whose-chief-was-being-too-normal
Brilliant song but weller wrote it for them. Still a fucking good tune tho.
The Guardian article brought me here. Thanks, Andy. I had almost forgotten this song.

This comment brought back so many memories of bands I had forgotten about but loved at the time. It was a great time to be a music fan👍
Most bands wish they could write a song as beautiful as this.
Oh how I wish it was still the 90's
Me too, I don't want to be here in 2020.
The best decade!!
Oh mannnn... 😔
We took for granted what he had back then.
One of the greatest songs of the brit pop era. pure class and sounds as fresh today as then
Why in the hell OCS didnt become as big as Oasis is beyond me. One of the most quintessential British bands of the 90's or any era.
This was one of the songs played at my young cousins funeral, he himself had a band and was an amazing guitar player. I love to listen to this and remember him
Lo siento, tenía un gusto exquisito pues es un tema precioso, saludos desde España.

Probably the most underrated band of the 90's
They were very highly rated.

What I'd give to be back in the 90s hearing this absolute tune for the first time 39 years old now
Just a brilliant song off a fantastic album.
Watched these perform 4 days ago, still one of the greatest bands of all time
Takes me back to my early seventies when everything was so care free. Unrestricted speed stair lifts, free incontinence pants and V8 mobility scooter...

Steve Craddock is a British Musical Treasure. Fowler is an excellent wordsmith. We need more OCS
It's weird how music that in the 90's sounded so 60/early 70's (a lot of acts tried in the 90's OCS were the only band that truly sounded like they were from that era) now conjures the 90's unlike anything else for me.
