- Introducing the Sanderson Steam Cycle! Named "Jenny", this home built coal fired steam cycle was painstakingly crafted over the last 4 years to look like it could have been built in the 1920's.
A traditional coal fired steam engine on 2 wheels! You've seen nothing like this before.

You ARE an engineer. Some people are simply born to be engineers. That has nothing to do with having diploma's or getting paid for it. Great stuff!
Exactly, they are not made, there born, Edison,Tesla to Job proved that.None went or flunked college.
ya you are right here is a joke , everyone is born to be someone,, everyone is born to be the person they are lol
@@grooveindia9989 Hardihar! Let me guess: That is ancient Indian wisdom, specially handed down to you personally through hundreds and hundreds of generations. :-)
@@markarrington3869 Edison and Jobs are no Engineers, they are Businessmen
blessed by dibnah?
I am a professionally licensed mechanical engineer (P.E.) in the USA. For the record, sir, you ARE an engineer. You’re what we youngsters like to call an “Old-School Engineer”. We also refer to your type as “Real Engineers”, “Traditional Engineers”, and “People Who Get Stuff Done The Way Newton Did.”
👍
He's an analogue engineer
Newton was a scientist not an engineer
I‘m a German mechanical engineer, and I salute for how cool this project came from an idea to a living motorcycle 👍
@@19683 did they even have the term engineer when Newton was around?
Either way Newton got stuff done.
Wow! Absolutely amazing!!! I'm retiring tomorrow from my job as a coal fired power plant boiler operator for 37 years generating electricity. If I may offer some friendly advice,,..You need to run the cleanest water in your boiler. This will cut way down on the scaling of your boiler tubes. If you have an under sink reverse osmosis unit, that water is the best! Also, flashing down your boiler is fine but I think you should wait until temperature and pressure drop down. This will minimize stress caused by differential cooling of the components on the boiler and whole machine. You may also think about "Inerting" your boiler when it wont be fired up for awhile. This consists of using nitrogen gas or c02 to push all the air out of your boiler. This will cut way down on corrosion! Rust has to have oxygen. Close all of your drains and open your uppermost vent on your boiler. Remove your boiler water fill cap and drop a pound or so of dry ice in and put the fill cap back on. If the cap is vented you will have to seal it up somehow. Remember c02 is heavier than air and flows like water. The dry ice will off gas and c02 will begin to fill the low spots and It will push all the air out of your uppermost vent on the boiler. Cheers from the Petrified Forrest in Holbrook Az. U.S.A. Contact me anytime brother! DDDave
This is phenomenal. I'd love to see more in-depth analysis video of this amazing project.

This is literally the meaning of steampunk
No. Not really. At all
@@jamesbizs explain
@@isetta4083 steam punk is brass look this seems like all steel painted black.
More like steam burn.
@@isetta4083 it wasn't steampunk at that time, and is it punk? The music that is use with steam isn't punk.
The Titanic used steam whas is steampunk?
You remind me of Dr Emmet Brown from Back to the Future 3. This is a MASTERPIECE. Worth millions. If you do not want it, it needs to be in the museum. Absolute Legendary Engineer.
if you drive this bike you can go back to the 1820 space time
I grew up around stationary steam engines...my Father was an engine driver at various sawmills......I also ride motor bikes....so this bike really appeals.... you are an incredibly smart man , you could put your hand to anything I'm sure...FANTASTIC.
in 7 years youtube’s going to recommend this video to everyone.
Lmao right
No, it’s happening now. It’s been recommended to me like 13 times now and I finally decided “fine RUclips, I’ll watch it..”
You've played in long term buddy
Well my teacher showed this to us for an assignment-
Only 4 months
Pulls into driveway, attendant comes running over, oh, a bag of coal, two sticks and a gallon of water thanks mate!
Always been fascinated with steam engines. My grandfather, great and great-great grandfather were all stationary steam power plant engineers at one time. This has got to be the best example of a steam powered motor cycle I’ve seen so far. Well done, as is the video documentary as well! Thank you for sharing this, much appreciated.
Hopefully the brakes are crappy ....so it doesn't lock up and slide you onto the nut ripper.....the only other drawback is having to leave the pub a half hour early to get up a head of steam....
it can probably maintain steam pressure and and live embers to relight fire for hours
Nice warm place to stand around for a smoke break.
that 'nut ripper' comment made me laugh
A man so confident with his boiler build, he wedges it between his legs, then still unperturbed he put wheels on each end! I am therefore not surprised he didn't bother with a helmet, but I am shocked he bothered wearing any clothes!! 😉🤣
From one metal-botherer to another.. BRAVO you wonderful lunatic and Compliments of the season to you. 🏆🎄🇬🇧
Sandy, you've haven't changed in all these years. Wish you were on TV as a Fred Dibnah/ Guy Martin kind of programme. Good on you, 👍👨🔧 best of British.
You said a mouthful brother. Europe has always had a love affair with the steam plant, Train, Generator, Pump, Shovel, Boat, Submarine, and now Motorcycle, its an awesome technology and a beautiful representation of Thermodynamics.
I just wish a group of people would seriously take this ancient technology and redevelop it using today materials and advanced knowledge.
I loove your one human power starting motor.
Absolutely amazing. It looks beautiful. It must be a dream to have learned the knowledge and make this wonderful creation. Total respect.
Wow! A Harley Davidson steam glide. 🏍️
I absolutely love this, doing some research on steampunk stuff and this is just what I needed.

This is without any doubt whatsoever absolutely the coolest thing that I have ever seen- you sir are a bona-fide genius. You should be TEACHING engineering!!!
There are no noises that thing doesn't make and I love it.
Great people!Amazing Video!Respect !
I was 25 when I founded an old book about steam Engine and Locomotive ,7000 files,I coudnd stop read it all,6 hours long..,after I had some orientation Problem outside library...never forgotten ,everything still in my head
I have no idea how steam engines work so i built a badass steam powered motorcyce. Love it!
Gotta love the saddle bags full of coal. Marvelous machine.
The "Musee Mechanique" in San Francisco has a motorcycle named the "Steam Flyer" on display. It was built in 1912...
This is not just a machine but a work if art! Amazing creation, so tastefully executed and correct. That is how a steam bike wouldv've been!
Thank you for the video, it breathtaking.🎉
This is insanely cool
You're a mad genius, good sir! Love your work. Many dream but only a few put in the work to make it come true.
With the prices of gas going up and my inability to find a job that's decent I'm considering getting a bike and making an small steam engine for it, which is way easier said than done, but if I'll achieve anything close to that goal will also be because of this man, that's some amazing work, it's beautiful and a real marvel of engineering even if conceptually "simple"
Желаю Мастеру данного канала доброго здоровья и творческих успехов !
У Вас золотые руки , снимаю шляпу .
It's basically a traction engine with only two wheels. Well made and a fun project!
Exactly, the beauty of steam, they can power anything.
As soon as there's any more footage or analysis of this, I'll be over here like a shot. Beautiful craftsmanship and design.

I would not feel comfortable having so many heavy, steel moving parts near my "goodies".
Yes the bike should be very afraid of my heavy steel parts.
"I would not feel comfortable having so many heavy, steel moving parts near my "goodies"."
And yet you'd be OK with having a container of highly inflammable liquid on top of a hot engine, between your legs and riding it at three figure speeds?… or maybe you don't ride bikes.
Eine absolut coole Kiste! I love Jenny.
"Quick, Robin, to the steam mobile!"
This looks like it could inspire an entire animated series.
just a thought for a version 2, have the exhaust split into to that utilize the steam pressure suction to blast the exhaust fumes clear out both sides, this will considerably improve your forward visibility
Sir this is the best video on RUclips....
I feel blessed so see this.....
1:08 [Made in Yorkshire] That and most everything else made me smile (-:
And sad because there they don't make anything anymore.
I want more in depth, ive been building gas bikes for awhile and recently got into electrics. I want to get a boiler from a hotz steam cleaner and fire it on WVO and other flexible fuel sources this is instrumental as an inspiration. keep up the good work.
I am obsessed about steam locomotives, after watching this steam bike I am crazy about your bike. You are a born engineer. Keep your passion about crazy engineering my friend. Wormth intimacy from India .
A clogged valve and it's a steam rocket. Remember to bring a camera.
But amazing job. What a beauty
Well you say you have no trade but you have skills and good common sense. Nice one.
Great styling! Great job! Super design! Respect!
He must make a movie with this steam bike
Remember the steam bike in the movie Wild,Wild West, with Will Smith? Avanti!!
6:43 Always remember to disarm your steam bomb before putting it away
What really cool is whistle and smoking steam.. xD
Wow, you and your motorcycle are awesome!!
and it can keep your brew warm...marvellous
My only complaint about this video is that they played music while it was running. I wanted to hear what the bike sounded like with no distractions.
It's literally perfect
Please post another video if it running without music
a work of art and a thing of beauty

Wow, insanely impressive (in every sense), reached me in South-West UK, via the USA !
Completely insane. In the best possible way. I love it.
Imagine trying to wrestle that monster upright again after a fall.
Awesome work. Absolutely love the idea, design and skills that go into creating this piece of engineering/art. I have so much respect for you 👍
A fine engineer in every sense of the word
Gauge: “Lbs per ◽️inch”
Clever. That company charge by the letter? 😊
Not sure but it's the normal legend for such guages on steam engines of all shapes and sizes
@@dasy2k1 Last boiler I worked around had its pressure gauge about 8 feet off the floor. Units just said "PSI" if I remember right.
FYI: that boiler has nothing to do with the fact that I no longer work there 😁
So amazing bike. Great video.
Your delightfully modest presentation is incredibly listenable and informative. That's on top of the amazing achievement of this machine. Kind regards, Bob K
Precious than any bikes of the world...
Fantastic Man! You're a genius!!!
🙏💐🙏
Loved it, great production values too.
I MOST DEFINITELY want to know more!!!
Just awesome stuff! And beautifully filmed. 👍
That exhaust steam pipe fitted centrally in front... if fitted conveniently at backside it will be more safe and convenient for the rider in many reasons... Anyway congratulations...!!!
Cool, simply COOL !!! I would ride that !!!
NICE work!!! Love it!!

This is a great video thank you
I would like to see a longer video of detailed analysis please.
Marvellous, brilliant effort sir!
Making a steam powered generator would be a great idea.
I would like to see a full video please.
You could carry it behind your electric car on a trailer incase you flatten the batteries, just fire up and plug in and off you go again, lol... 😂
@@gorgoniansunfish I'm not a fan of electric cars. It's not the kind of future I'm looking forward to. I like engines, big ones!
Stage two development will be a 50 ft long power station steam turbine with boiler sidecar & a cooling tower, about 1megerwatt will do 0-60 in about 5 seconds, surely a new Guinness record. I can't wait for a detailed video.
Amazing motorbike. I never thought of such type motorbike.
amazing! well done sir!
Really colorful idea.
This is amazing, would love to see more
U r great my favourite is steam enginr u did job
I believe I have met this chap at a bike rally in the early 2000's , Probably Farmyard or Into the Valley . I remember the 1st bike, it was a (Japanese?) diesel genny engine rigged up to a Burman(?) gearbox . Strangely , it has a reverse as well . Max speed was 40mph .
Well done sir ! It's a beauty !
A work of art.
The first cool thing I watched in 2021
Great job 👍
Fred dibnah looking down, laughing and smiling
Coolness to the next level..
One heck of a coal guy!
Crazy ride for sure 👍
The Narrator: "So, what inspired you to build this?"
This guy: "Well, I looked at a regular motorcycle and thought to myself 'How can I make this less practical and more dangerous?'"
Beautiful Machine 😍 😘
I'm pretty sure that in the US operating that thing would require a boiler operator's license. Also, the boiler would have to be built to pressure vessel code standards. Those standards came about through many destructive and deadly explosions over the decades. Hope he's got enough safety factor built into his boiler so he doesn't end up like the steam engineer of the "old 97."
That's the thing. I'm sure he has no idea how close to failure he is. @3:00 it showed red line at 125psi. For just a 10 inch diameter boiler that's almost 2 TONS of tensile force!
Imagine in the old west u see the sheriff riding this bike be like bruh
Excellent !!
“I’m not an engineer”
Well, it hasn’t exploded so, that’s sounds like some good engineering to me
This is sick
This needs to be on Jay Leno's Garage...
Wonderful choice of music! I managed to watch - with the sound off.
this is............art!
That is amazing. I love stream engine 🤩
Amazing. What is the top speed?
I saw a lady riding a steam bike at Driffield show a couple of years ago it was a lot smaller in the whirring bits, painted brown, might have been a Haleson.
