The recent Final Report of the Truth and Reconciliation Commission on Canada’s residential schools for indigenous children has exposed a disturbing history of abuse that has scarred generations of indigenous communities. The Commission called on Canadians to address these past injustices in furtherance of reconciliation and healing. What is the path ahead from oppression to empowerment? What role does spirituality play in this transformation? What are some of the contributions that indigenous people can make to the future of Canada?
Thank you for sharing this discussion. As stated in the conclusion, this history of genocide meant profound suffering to generations of human beings. Thankful the Association bears witness and that we can learn from the hearts and mouths of ones who live it.
