- Can one film save humanity from the pitfalls of modernity? Academy Award-winning screenwriter Charlie Kaufman (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind), explores this question in his stunning debut novel. Antkind is the story of B. Rosenberger Rosenberg, an underappreciated film critic and the only person to have seen what he deems to be a destroyed cinematic masterwork. Believing the film is capable of saving civilization and his career, Rosenberg sets out on an artistic quest to reproduce its genius. Like his fictitious antihero, Kaufman explores the power of imagery, cinema, and visual narrative in transforming the future. Joining Kaufman is Greta Johnsen, host and producer of WBEZ’s Nerdette podcast.

I love that he brings up Memory Police and now it's happening!!!! I wanna see the screenplays he was talking about that no one would let him direct!! Charlie is my favorite guy!!!! I love him so much
Best Kaufman interview I’ve seen. Thanks, Greta.
I’m the biggest Kaufman fan and I’m impressed by the mustache. It was a revelation to learn that he finds joy cooking and dancing with his daughter. I always thought of Charlie as a reclusive writer so it was a great insight into his life. Greta is smart, pretty and a good interviewer. This was an enjoyable watch, thanks.
Charlie Kaufman my all time favorite and important person in my life.
Because Ingo made the movie alone, every character has to be voiced by him. Realizing that cracks me up.
The funniest book I've read in a long time.
Huge props to Greta its brilliant to see Charlie open up like this. I really wish all the best for him as talking about this novel he seems a lot happier than dealing with promoting his films.
i love you Charlie 🥺
Don’t we all
I hope i can ask some of my own questions one day
Rare to see a good and informative dynamic between the interviewer and the interviewee. 👌🏼
And yes Charlie needs to give more credit to himself than he does.....
I simply love this artist and his output.
Thanks for the shout-out for Joe Frank! (at around 10:38)
Charles has an astounding talent for growing facial hair.
The problem with Charlie Kaufman, as I see it, is that not enough people are talking about or to him. Nice to see that changed a little!
I just got this book and can't wait to dig into it. Loved pretty much everything Charlie Kaufman did up until this point so i am guessing Antkind will be a great read!
Great interview!
Greta is a great interviewer, very alert
Delightful interview!
Very interesting. Great author and very good interviewer.
antkind ... cool concept, ty Chuck !
antkind, written by ghost writter Donald Kaufman
Kaufman is such an interesting guy. It's funny to contrast his mood here with his mood during the Tony Gilroy interview lol the ladies like Greta make Charlie super nervous and lesser writers like Gilroy make him super confident LMAO
any spoilers for the book in this interview? I just ordered it
A copy arrives tomorrow. Should I be listening to this yet?
never seen him with this crazy mustache
6:56 and an even MORE similar thing in Hope Leaves the Theater
I’m pretty surprised there were no questions about the the books lampooning of pc culture.
Gretta reminds me of Scarlett Johanson in Lost in Translation
"He's super smart". Yeah, she didn't get the book (or the few chapters she read). Fun interview though!

Greta is too cute 🥺🥺
wow she is besutiful
hipstersguidetomars check it out love u
on Amazon and so not popular kinda absurd future
I've cracked it... Charlie prefers being interviewed by younger, attractive women. The rest of his interviews have been like pulling teeth.
Who doesn’t though
Honestly the Andrew Sean Greer interview was amazing too. The commonality between these 2 interviews is that they’re about Antkind.
Funny mustache
Is that a fake mustache? Lol
She is clearly bigly not into thsi book
No
